  • "What a cracking cottage!"

Arrived to find fresh flowers, biscuits, chocolates, wine and milk waiting for us. The cottage is lovely and spacious, clean and fully equipped. The garden is totally enclosed which was great knowing we could let our dog out safely. The hot tub is fab - and not overlooked. The food in the pub next door is delicious and they happily let us take the food and drinks back to the cottage to enjoy. Would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate in booking this cottage again.

  • "This is our second stay at the cottage and it didn’t disappoint."

The cottage is beautiful, hot tub is fantastic and the local walks are beautiful. The enclosed garden is a must for my two mischievous doggies. I would absolutely definitely recommend staying here. 10/10

  • "Warm and welcoming, owners very helpful."

Nice to be left flowers, fresh eggs, bottle of wine, biscuits and chocolates for arrival. Plentiful supply of wood for the fire. More delivered when asked for. The adjoining pub Sutton Arms is a must visit, fantastic food and service. Steak and Lobster was to die for. A lovely relaxing family break for New Year

About the location

Osmotherley 4 miles; Stokesley 6 miles; Northallerton 8 miles.

Swainby is a village in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire. Swainby is located at the north-western corner of the North York Moors National Park. The characteristics of the village and the surrounding area consist of traditional Yorkshire dry stone walls, hills, sheep, heather and moorland. The village is close to the ruins of Whorlton Castle. In the 19th century the housing of miners who worked the nearby hills for ironstone and jet led to an expansion of the village. Swainby contains two public houses, The Blacksmiths Arms and The Black Horse.
