“I loved Puffin Lodge, it was super clean, warm and cosy and homely decor.”

A lovely relaxing break, it was great to be able to sit and read in the sunshine on the south facing deck even in March. I liked that it was not on the main road so was quiet. The only things I 'missed' were salt & pepper, and cooking oil - I cooked in the lodge instead of going out to eat (due to coronavirus, everywhere was shut) and maybe some tin foil? ...

I will definately go back as I loved the lodge, and the location, the beach is about a 10/15 minute walk away. Thank you for letting me stay in your lovely Lodge.

The property

Puffin Lodge is a beautiful, well-equipped holiday cottage in a superb location – the decor and furnishings are lovely and based on seaside and nautical themes in a soft, neutral pallet of blues, greys and creams with accents of duck egg blue.

The property is thoughtfully equipped for a perfect holiday. The living area is a good size and open plan comprising a sitting room looking out onto the decking, with comfortable seating, a Smart TV, integrated DVD and a wood burning stove.

Folding doors reveal a lovely south facing decked area with table and chairs.

The cottage also has games, DVDs, books and magazines and even a set of boules for guests to enjoy. The dining area has a table and chairs to comfortably seat four people.

The immaculate kitchen is well-equipped with appliances including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washer/dryer.

There is an ironing board and iron too. There are two bedrooms, both having plenty of storage and each including a hair dryer.

There is a good size master bedroom suite with a comfortable 5′ king size bed.

The bedroom is very charming and has a TV, dresser and wardrobe.

There is an en-suite wet room, with a walk-in shower area, WC and hand wash basin. The pretty twin bedroom has two single beds – which are zip-and-link if you prefer to have a large, 5′ bed – plus a TV, wardrobe and bedside table.

It has a smart en-suite shower room with a shower cubicle, WC and hand wash basin.

Both bedrooms have black out blinds. The property has a lawned area to the front as well as the raised decking which has pillars and ropes to add to the seaside theme – it’s an idyllic spot to take in the Yorkshire sea air, sitting back and sipping your morning cup of tea or coffee as the day begins. There is parking to the rear. Puffin Lodge is on one level so suitable for those with limited mobility.

About the location

THE BAY - FILEY

Filey 3 miles; Scarborough 10 miles; Bridlington 8 miles.

Located on one of the most naturally beautiful stretches of the Yorkshire Coast, the Bay Filey is fronted by six miles of golden, sandy beach and is an exclusive development of traditional styled holiday cottages, off the A165 Filey to Bridlington road. Filey is a popular choice and is reminiscent of childhood holidays – an elegant and tranquil seaside town boasting a beautiful, award-winning beach, charming shops and plenty of activities for all the family. Filey Beach, with miles of golden, sandy beach nearby – recently voted the UK’s Best Beach in 2018 – there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted. Or try your hand at water sports such as sailing or surfing or just settle down in a deck chair with a good book and enjoy the sunshine. The Coble Landing is lined with boats and kiosks selling coffee, tea, seaside snacks and even those ever-popular bacon sandwiches, The Coble Landing is a must to enjoy the views before a walk along the spacious promenade, dotted with coastal themed sculptures. Discover the Fily Brigg, where you can walk to the tip of this narrow rock peninsular during low tide and maybe see a seal, sunbathing on the rocks. The cliff top above The Brigg forms part of the Country Park, which is popular with picnickers, birdwatchers and hang-gliders and is the start of The Wolds Way. Filey Museum is a past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696, and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive. Dalby Forest is an excellent choice for cyclists, where they can enjoy a challenge at Dalby Forest, or perhaps follow some of the Tour De Yorkshire route and tackle the famous Cote De Harwood Dale or just pedal village to village along the idyllic country roads of the nearby Wolds and admire the views made famous by leading artist David Hockney. Bird lovers will love the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the 250,000 guillemots, gannets and puffins who flock there to raise their young between April and August. It is a haven for birds and animals, including an important colony of great-crested newts and has an interesting Visitor Centre. Scarborough is 20 minutes north of Filey where theatre goers can enjoy the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn plays plus Scarborough Open Air Theatre attracts many world-class artists – recent concerts have included Britney Spears, The Beach Boys, Little Mix and Tom Jones!
