The property

Nestled in The Bay, Filey, a pretty development of traditional holiday homes, lies STAKS Cottage, an attractive terrace house perfect for a family holiday to North Yorkshire.

Offering a well-presented décor, free roadside parking, and easy links to the nearby bustling towns of Filey and Scarborough, this lovely dwelling is the ideal base for exploring the wonders of North Yorkshire.

Stepping into property, the light and airy open-plan living space greets you with aplomb, offering a neutral décor with an abundance of natural light coming through the patio doors.

Here you will find a kitchen perfect for concocting delicious meals to fuel the group's activities for the day, including a gas hob and electric oven.

From here, dine as a family at the white and wooden dining table; fitting with the overall theme of the property, the dining area provides a space for you to catch up on the day and enjoy a board game with your loved ones.

Completing the living space is sitting area home to two plush sofas you can look forward to sinking into after an adventurous day at the beach, before flicking on the TV and unwinding for the evening.

As the night rolls in, head upstairs to the first floor, where you will find two tastefully decorated bedrooms where you can rest your head ahead of another fun-filled day out.

The cottage hosts a double bedroom with a TV and lovely bright décor, and a twin room, fit with white furnishings and two plush single beds, ideal for children or friends sharing.

Indulge in a bubble bath and a good book after a day of exploring the local area; the bathroom is home to a bath, shower over, a basin and a WC where the group can freshen up between activities, and you will also find a handy ground-floor cloakroom.

Back on the ground floor, take advantage of the outdoor space at the property, home to dining seating so you can take your dinner al fresco in the evenings, or even just savour your morning coffee before the rest of the group rises.

There are plenty of local eateries if you don't fancy cooking one evening such as The John Paul Jones, which is right on the doorstep of the abode and offers a scrumptious pub-grub style menu.

Also within walking distance is The Lakehouse Restaurant which is host to gorgeous seating areas both inside and outside, surrounded by greenery and perfect for those travelling with younger members due to the on-site playground.

Avid walkers and cyclists will relish in the exquisite shoreside walks in the area, notably the Cleveland Way National Trail, a 109 mile walking route through North Yorkshire finest landscapes.

Slightly further afield, you can make your way up coast to the lively seaside town of Scarborough to enjoy their excellent range of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés and the wonderful SEA LIFE aquarium, or venture down the coast to the pretty town of Bridlington and spend an afternoon at Bridlington Animal Park, fun for all the family.

While you are staying at the cottage, venture out to the nearby beach for a exciting day at the seaside; thrill seekers can try their hand at kayaking and coasteering with the help of Bay Watersports, or perhaps have a day of building sandcastles and swimming before picking up the essentials from the local shop and heading to your home away from home for dinner.

Located on one of the most naturally beautiful stretches of the Yorkshire Coast, the Bay Filey is fronted by six miles of golden, sandy beach and is an exclusive development of traditional styled holiday cottages, off the A165 Filey to Bridlington road. Filey is a popular choice and is reminiscent of childhood holidays – an elegant and tranquil seaside town boasting a beautiful, award-winning beach, charming shops and plenty of activities for all the family. Filey Beach, with miles of golden, sandy beach nearby – recently voted the UK’s Best Beach in 2018 – there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted. Or try your hand at water sports such as sailing or surfing or just settle down in a deck chair with a good book and enjoy the sunshine. The Coble Landing is lined with boats and kiosks selling coffee, tea, seaside snacks and even those ever-popular bacon sandwiches, The Coble Landing is a must to enjoy the views before a walk along the spacious promenade, dotted with coastal themed sculptures. Discover the Fily Brigg, where you can walk to the tip of this narrow rock peninsular during low tide and maybe see a seal, sunbathing on the rocks. The cliff top above The Brigg forms part of the Country Park, which is popular with picnickers, birdwatchers and hang-gliders and is the start of The Wolds Way. Filey Museum is a past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696, and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive. Dalby Forest is an excellent choice for cyclists, where they can enjoy a challenge at Dalby Forest, or perhaps follow some of the Tour De Yorkshire route and tackle the famous Cote De Harwood Dale or just pedal village to village along the idyllic country roads of the nearby Wolds and admire the views made famous by leading artist David Hockney. Bird lovers will love the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the 250,000 guillemots, gannets and puffins who flock there to raise their young between April and August. It is a haven for birds and animals, including an important colony of great-crested newts and has an interesting Visitor Centre. Scarborough is 20 minutes north of Filey where theatre goers can enjoy the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn plays plus Scarborough Open Air Theatre attracts many world-class artists – recent concerts have included Britney Spears, The Beach Boys, Little Mix and Tom Jones!
