  • "Second time at this lovely, spacious and really well equipped apartment."

Power shower and jacuzzi bath are excellent as is the WiFi. It's so well placed for access to the town( around the corner) , the beach ( across the park) and access to cliff walks etc . Parking is free on side streets . Filey is just lovely in any event and this apartment is ideally situated to make the best of it without having to drive and park etc.

  • "The apartment inside was fine, warm , comfortable and as expected , it had all we needed , fabulous location and would recommend but good be improved with the following updates."

The outside area needs attention (weekly in my opinion), it needs sweeping weekly( not done in along time ) , patio area needs tidying up and good be so much prettier to sit in & look at , windows outside need cleaning desperately and paint work cleaning down at least once a month. The information on the apartment needs looking at ASAP , much of it is out of date and goes back at least 10 years or more, needs organising into files so its easy to find ,read. We tried to contact the owners got no reply & Sykes too , the lady was helpful & we got standard email back to confirm our/ query call , but again no reply from owners or follow up from Sykes whilst we were there. There is list of people to contact in one of the files , we tried 2 numbers & left messages no one got back to us . The 3rd lady did answer but she was shocked to find out her number was still listed as she no longer works for these people , she also told me that the other numbers i had tried did not either. ( so out of date ) . Wifi code on back of router but its so tiny to read , why not just include in Welcome Pack so its easy to read and on hand . Finally the info on rubbish removal is so poor , listed on 2 stickers and stuck on the local info file . Recycle ?? told to use the council waste bins across the road , no info on glass bottles . Was really disappointed in this as i like to do my bit

  • "What a very attractive property, nicely furnished, quite spacious and ideally located on the Crescent."

I can't fault the apartment and it really made for a lovely stay in Filey. Kitchen was very well fitted out and the location is in close proximity to the shops and restaurants.

  • "Very spacious apartment, well equipped, but the sofa is very uncomfortable and swallowed you rather than supported you when sitting or lounging, the living room was big enough for 2 3 seater sofas instead of one sofa and two uncomfortable bucket seats."

The mattress too needs replacing, it was old and also had little support, the 2 silly hanging light fittings in the bedroom are dangerous and anyone over 5.9 has to duck, my husband is 6' and took a chunk out of his head on the one near the wardrobe! As for the cleanliness the bedding, towels and bathroom's were very clean but the floors including the kitchen had only been swept/hoovered and not mopped, so I had to do it, I also had to de mould and scrub the shower head which was awful, I read someone else's comment on this very thing last August and it hadn't been addressed, cif mould remover works a treat and you just spray and leave (if the cleaner is reading this) I found a pair of pants in the washing machine and also had to clean the washing machine dispenser drawer which was gunged up with fabric softener and mould, also not my job, there was a pair of dirty nickers behind a cushion in the bedroom! The freezer was dirty and had food from the previous occupants left in it. These are jobs the cleaners should check before the next people come to stay. Also the dusting had been done in a hurry and not all surfaces had been dusted! All in all the property is in a great location, the owners needs to address the problems mentioned, as dogs are allowed the kitchen door would be better being a stable door so the bottom half could be closed while the top half let's some air in as all the windows were painted shut and do not open!!! (Fire hazard) with the greedy prices for next year more than doubling these problems need addressing now, so at the present moment I wouldn't stay again or recommend, we've stayed in Sykes cottages before and had issues with cleanliness or lack of, this needs sorting get some better cleaners that about doing their jobs properly!

The only downside was not being able to find anywhere to park or unload the car.

It is brilliantly positioned for access to all the town shops literally within 300metres and supermarket within half a mile. So close that I didn't use the car which was parked free next to the he apartment The apartment is large, open , very comfortable. spotless and we'll equipped. Really lovely place. Watch your noggin on the bedroom lights if your 6'4".! Filey is glorious . The beach, gardens and cliff walks are all instantly accessible from this apartment. ...and they are all immaculately maintained. Enjoyed it so much I've booked it again

  • "The apartment is very well appointed offering fabulous decor, with a comfortable and homely feel."

Together with its position around middle of the bay and across the road a very well kept park before a drop to the see front offering wonderful views, As a couple just in out retirement this gave us the opportunity for long walks and great facilities close to hand. They apartment being dog friendly we enjoyed our stay so much we have rebooked for next year

  • "On surface apartment looked ok but on further inspection the maintenance and cleanliness left a lot to be desired."

The most annoying part was wardrobes which stored bed linen were filthy with layers of dust and twin room windows and ledge covered in mildew and dead flies as was the blind! Considering we are in midst of pandemic I think this is appalling. We were unable to open bedroom windows to replenish air and therefore room was constantly stuffy! Shower hose was thick of black gunge! Kettle thick layers of limescale and dish drainer disgusting which I was tempted to throw out! It was a shame because it has a fantastic location very central to all amenities but overall needs a very thorough deep clean! Needless to say we will not be returning and instead collected details of other properties in the area as well loved Filey!

About the location

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
