“A wonderful house- comfy, clean and warm.”
The family are very welcoming and friendly and there is a booklet that tells you everything you need to know about the cottage and the area. A lovely place that I would highly recommend. There is no signal in the area and although there is WiFi, it’s so weak that we never managed to actaully use it during our stay so it’s great if you want to get off the grid for a while and just enjoy the countryside.
“Fabulous place In a lovely location, Mappleton beach fantastic for dog walking, will definitely be going again”
“It was our first time using Sykes Cottages so wasn't sure what to expect so was very pleasantly surprised that as we pulled up into the courtyard nearly one hour early we met Simon who introduced us to the cottage and everything inside the Cottage and a rough idea how things like the heating system worked etc!”
He gave us a tour of the cottage and then left us to settle in .. We really enjoyed our restful, peaceful holiday in a really lovely cottage which www both needed. Thank you Sykes and Simon for our much needed holiday nothing was too much trouble for Simon.
“Stables Cottage is a wonderful bolthole; I went alone (with my dog), and was made to feel very welcome by the owner, Simon.”
He's around if you need anything, but not at all intrusive. The location is very peaceful and quite isolated -- not for those looking for nightlife, but if you want an escape from everything this is the place to go! The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm, and well-equipped (no private patio though, or outdoor seating), with beautiful gardens to take the dog for a bedtime stroll. Mappleton beach is 15 minutes away, and there are lots of good, quiet walks within easy driving distance. I would definitely return!
“Simon was very welcoming and friendly.”
The cottage was lovely, warm and clean and had everything you needed and more! Had a lovely 5 days stay with our 2 dogs. Thank you Simon we will see you again
“Only thing to note is there is no freezer.”
Not an issue but just to say I overlooked that fact when reading the cottage description. The setting of the cottage is beautiful and the owner is really friendly welcoming and helpful.
“Lovely cottage Simon very helpful and friendly will visit again”
“It was very comfortable inside but there was nowhere to sit outside in the evening sun and a long way from any public open space.”
It was very difficult to find, needs more detailed instructions from all possible directions.
“We arrived rather later than planned and the welcome we received was fabulous.”
What a lovely person Simon North is! The cottage is very roomy for two people and the cleanliness second to none. There was tea/coffee and milk ready and waiting for us along with some essentials like washing up liquid, drying cloth and all those things I always seem to forget when at a self catering location. The bathroom is large with a bath and shower over and towels provided (which again is not always provided at self catering locations). The bedroom has a comfortable double bed, along with a wardrobe, bedside tables and a dressing table. Lovely wooden floors throughout except for the bathroom and kitchen which have white tiled floors. The lounge has a leather double settee, along with an armchair and coffee table, and is equipped with WiFi, TV, and log burner. You can't go wrong renting this cottage, it has everything you need and is in a super location for travelling up and down the coast. The nearest beach - which our border collies thoroughly enjoyed - is Mappleton Beach (around 6 miles away and takes 10 minutes to get there), but there are further beaches such as Hornsea (great little café where you can sit out the back with dogs) and Fraisthorpe (nice and sandy). Loads of walks and cycle rides in the area along with plenty of historical locations.
“A beautiful setting with chickens wandering around.”
. Simon was very helpful and friendly. A lovely holiday.
“The cottage was very nice, clean and welcoming.”
The only negative was the 2 seater sofa which was not big enough to relax on
“Easy to find.”
Very clean and comfortable, lots of hot water and central heating (just what was required on a very cold snowy week). Plenty parking space. Proprietor was very helpful.
