  • "Was a lovely stay but the heating wouldn’t work the volume on the tv ..."

Was a lovely stay but the heating wouldn’t work the volume on the tv wouldn’t turn up on an evening and the shower wasn’t very warm but other than that it was a lovely stay and a loveley little cottage

Hello Stacey Been there with my family this week end to check the issues that you raised to find that The heating worked perfectly once I turned the temperature up on the thermostat The shower takes a little longer for the water to pull from the boiler when the thermostats is down low but worked perfectly fine, these issues can sometimes be overlooked so we have written in the useful comments book about all the problems that could occur and hopefully guide you to getting them to your satisfaction.with regards to the volume on the remote controls It did work for us but we changed the batteries just in case there was a further problem I can clearly say that your issues raised have been resolved but thank you for notifying me so I am able to act upon them and ensure are all working perfectly fine. We would have been more than happy to guide you personally with these issues through Sykes over the telephone but hopefully you visit us again in the near future and hope these issues haven’t put you off our beautiful cosy cottage we are here to help you in anyway we can and ensure you have a great holiday Paul&Nikki Property Owner

  • "Second visit to this well maintained cottage, gladthe baby gate has gone -trip hazard."

Can you now reduce the number of air fresheners and pot pourri bowls, for hay fever sufferers, the electric ones are very bad.

  • "There is an issue in that there are no dustbins to put in your rubbish and recycling, so we had to use a neighbours- with their permission of course."

    Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

  • "The cottage was extremely conveniently placed for visiting a variety of places around the area including Flamborough Lighthouse, North and South Landing, Thornwick Bay, Sewerby, Bridlington and RSPB Bempton - all of these literally just a few miles away as well as Filey a little further afield."

The cottage was warm and comfortable with most things we needed. The bed was very comfy, the shower hot and the to easy to operate. The village with shops, pubs and cafes is just a short walk. If you are self-catering like us take along things like salt, pepper, cooking oil and, as there was only one dishwasher tablet left for us, those too. All in all a very good cottage to stay in.

Very well looked after. Child security gate dangerous for us older visitors. Table and chairs outside would be great. Overall excellently located cottage catering for all your needs.

  • "As an asthma sufferer I was horrified by the number of different smellies."

every surface had potpourri or reed diffusers and then electric air fresheners. These can cause an attack. Overall the cottage was lovely but a few less ornaments would mean the coffee and bedside tables can be used for books, drinks etc their purpose. Congrats on the bed comfier than any we have slept in except our own.

Good evening Thank you for your feedback,I am sorry to read that our smellies have affected your asthma this was not our intention to make you feel uncomfortable . We appreciate you bringing this to our attention,we do like to bring a homely and fresh smelling feel to our cottage but we will certainly look into making improvements. So pleased the bed was to your satisfaction. We wish you all the best and hope you will visit us again in the near future kind regards Nikki and Paul Property Owner

  • "Such a lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

There's so much more to the cottage than is listed.... modern fixtures and fittings, all seemed pretty new and sparkling, the kitchen tap is incredible! The most comfortable beds I've ever slept on; Alexas both upstairs and down; smart TVs (1 downstairs, 1 in master bedroom); don't know what the towels had been washed in but they smelt amazing and were so soft! Cuddly toys in the bunk bed room a thoughtful touch; sleek, modern electric fire which we just used with the light as heat wasn't needed but it made it so cosy; even 2 foot rest beanbags to put your feet up at the end of a day beach exploring. It's like the owners have thought of everything, even an automatic dispensing hand sanitizer!! We loved it, thank you

A wonderful retreat for a couple or small family, Castaways is a wonderful place to call home while exploring the natural splendour and attractions of East Yorkshire.

After a day of rambling, look forward to unwinding in the open-plan living space, settling down upon sofa as the electric fire gently warms you, with a flat-screen TV for entertainment.

Set the dining table with crockery and cutlery while the chef of the group gets to work in the kitchen, offering plenty of amenities to encourage home-cooking.

About the location

FLAMBOROUGH

Bridlington 4 miles; Filey 7 miles; Scarborough 18 miles.

The pretty village of Flamborough occupies a superb setting, perched on a picturesque peninsula on the East Coast of Yorkshire, 4 miles from Bridlington. Housing traditional fishermen's cottages and a small selection of welcoming pubs and restaurants, Flamborough also has much to offer the rambler, historian and birdwatcher. There are spectacular cliffs, which form an eight mile stretch of Heritage coastline, and at Flamborough Head, stand two historic lighthouses, one of which is the oldest one in Britain, built in 1674. To the north of the village, the magnificent 400 feet high cliffs are home to one of the largest colonies of nesting sea birds in England. Discover the puffins at Bempton, follow the fascinating natural trails at South Landing and the wooded ravine at Danes Dyke, or explore the smugglers’ caves at North Landing. Enjoy a spot of fishing or a boat trip to explore the sea caves. Flamborough Head is a wonderful place for anyone who enjoys beautiful coastal scenery and bracing sea air.

Note: Charging of electric vehicles is not permitted as there is no designated charging point and this would pose a safety hazard across the path.
