    G. Wash Machine, Tumble Dryer, Dish Wash machine, enormous supply of crockery, cutlery and glassware, Freesat, DVD, plentiful supply of Childrens toys, board games, books, magazines, the list goes on. Janet, the owner, provided a welcome pack of local Whitby cake, biscuits, milk, tea, coffee. Wash up liquid, dish wash sponge, toilet rolls provided, sufficient for first few days of our stay. The cottage has a south facing enclosed garden with pleasant views. Outdoor seating, table and chairs provided. The dining area is huge with an extendable table and was easily able to accomodate 12 relatives visiting on the final day of our stay. The cottage possesses 4 good size bedrooms, though access to one of them is by way of steep steps and perhaps would be more suitable for a teenager. It's a very 'clean' cottage, having 3 toilets, shower, bath, and 3 hand basins! Once out of the cottage, turn right and enjoy a short walk to the ford, passing A J Brown's (Author of books about the North Riding) Hotel on the left. Turn left out of the cottage and either walk to 'Aidensfield' AKA Goathland, or walk down to Beck Hole. After visiting Beck Hole, if you want, extend your walk to the Mallyan Spout waterfall. Our thanks to the owner for providing such lovely accommodation and making our stay in the North Riding an extremely comfortable one.

At the bottom of the village lies the station for the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. Here you can catch a train to Whitby or Pickering and relax as the train winds its way through the moors.
