  • "We’ve just returned from a lovely weekend stay at Lavender Cottage."

The cottage was ideally located for our needs set in a gorgeous secluded location but also giving us easy access to local towns, the coast and the friends we were visiting. The cottage is beautifully decorated, super warm and comfortable, but also dog friendly with hard, easy to clean flooring and internally plenty of space for our two large dogs. Outside is a delightful, large well fenced garden which is securely gated at the front. This feeling of security to us, is invaluable for being able to safely let our dogs out while fighting to get wellies on!

Nicky the owner rang us to see what time we were arriving. As we were going to be there well after dark, Nicky kindly left lights and heating on for our arrival. The lovely welcome pack was much appreciated. Lavender cottage was immaculate. We had everything we needed. I loved that the christmas decorations were up. My two little dogs loved the garden to run around in. Thank you nicky for a lovely stay.

It’s nice and quite away from any planned events so keeps our dogs nice and calm. The cottage is immaculately clean, nice and cosy with a pleasant gift hamper on arrival, the garden is big enough and secure for the dogs to have a good run around. Plenty of nice walks close by and destinations a short drive away. Nicky and Gary are perfect hosts, just a message or call and they’re there to help. We will definitely be staying here again.

Peaceful and tranquil with only the sound of birds and the horses in the fields, absolutely perfect in every way. Lots of lovely walks,we felt we were the only ones for miles it was so quiet. The cottage is absolutely spotless and all equipment is provided. The dog loved the garden and spent her time looking for rabbits and warning off the horses across the road. The cottage is in the depth of the country and is approached from all directions by single track roads. These don’t worry my husband so we enjoyed exploring the local area and pubs.

The property felt so welcoming as soon as we walked in, such a luxury finish, warm and spotlessly clean, with a much appreciated welcome pack of wine, teabags and cake ! The bathroom is so lovely and relaxing we thoroughly enjoyed our bath and shower time after a day out walking. Kitchen area is fully equipped, spot on with a washing machine and dishwasher also if needed. TV with lots of channels and a cupboard full of dvd,s to choose from. Lighting the wood burner added a lovely touch for a cosy evening. The garden is huge , my goodness it goes on forever our dogs loved it so much. So many snowdrops, and spring flowers popping up everywhere, so beautiful. The variety of birds visiting the garden feed station constantly was a pleasure to see. The cottage is located in a very peaceful area , set back on a through road but we hardly noticed the odd vehicle passing. During our few days stay, we had a long walk along the The Hudson Way disused rail way track which runs along the back of the cottage. We also spent time in Market Weighton, Hornsea and the Humber Bridge Country park. Such a pleasure to stay here , Nicky has obviously put a great deal of thought and effort into providing the most amazing place for a holiday home. Thanks

The garden and security of it is what impressed us the most. Due to us having a dog this was important so we could relax as being a winter vacation it was dark much of time. All the facilities were excellent and clean. Only minor points the bed was not to our liking but this is always going to be a 50/50 when you are on vaccination. Also the 2 seater sofa was not to our liking when watching TV but again preference. We had a nice holiday and would definitely consider booking again definitely in the summer. We loved the birds visit at feeding station and brought joy to our mornings. Thanks for letting us stay at your lovely lavender cottage.

The property was really clean and comfortable and completely as described - not always the case we have found over the years. The garden was fabulous- very much enjoyed by our Labrador and great to be able to let him wander in and out. We felt that this really was a dog friendly cottage - secure garden, tiled floors, no unnecessary clutter. We have stayed elsewhere with the dog only to find the garden wasn’t secure or it was filled with ornaments just waiting for that wagging tail!! Everything worked and the WiFi was good and quick. The owners were very friendly but we had complete privacy. We have travelled to Yorkshire many times but never to the Wolds and we loved the area. Loads to do and Beverley was great - lots to see and incredibly friendly with lots of dog- friendly options. The local town is only down the road so whilst this is in a very quiet countryside location nothing is very far away. We can’t recommend this cottage and the area highly enough and will definitely be back.

The main plus for us was the size of the garden and how secure it was. Even our mischevious frenchie couldn't find a way to escape so was happy to leave the french doors open from the living room for them to roam freely. Both our dogs very much enjoyed and made most of the big garden all week and our kids loved it too. The cottage was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. The only thing we would have liked, our personal preference really would have been a comfy sofa for us all to cuddle upto on an evening. As comfy as the chairs and sofa was, they weren't relaxing enough where you could really unwind, spread out and lay about on whilst watching a movie as a family. Other than that we loved it!

Riley ( the border collie) has a super power for finding balls and this garden was his playground. 8 balls he found in total and was such a happy boy with all the outdoor space and wildlife. Hope the next pup that visits enjoys finding them also. The welcome basket was a beautiful gesture from the owners and Riley enjoyed his treats too. Set off a quiet country road with its own gated entrance with private parking right outside the property. The garden is huge, great for dogs to explore. The property is all on the ground floor and is immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard. The living room is a good size with a lovely log burner. Wifi worked well during our stay as we brought our firestick to stream Netflix. The living room has a lovely patio door with views of the beautiful garden. The bathroom was gorgeous with a powerful shower and stylish bath. The main bedroom was on the small side but had adequate storage. The second bedroom was a decent size though. Its all open plan ie. the kitchen/dining room and living room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the owners live next door and were so friendly and helpful but left you to your privacy. If you had any issues or requests they were quick to respond and were very accomodating. They were really welcoming and provided a beautiful hamper on arrival. I would not hesitate to stay at this beautiful cottage again and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful break away in the Yorkshire Countryside. A car is essential here really as there didn't appear to be a supermarket in walking distance. The nearest being a short drive. • "This cottage is absolutely beautiful, the pictures don’t show this place off to its full potential."

We were absolutely delighted when we opened the front door & saw what was going to be our home for the week. ( owners left the most amazing welcome hamper too best we have ever had too so Thankyou to the owners for that.) Now for us personally there are 3 “must haves” that we need & look for when choosing a property to visit. First : log burner :- lavender cottage has a fantastic log burner, the owners even left some firewood to get us going which meant we could enjoy the fire immediately ✔️ Second : A secure garden ( as we have 2 little dogs ) the garden was bigger than I expected, it was 100% secure & is so even for the tiniest of dogs , there is no escaping from this garden at all.✔️ Now last but not least on our must haves is WIFI. Yes I know most people try to switch off when they go away, but for us wifi is important as we have a fire stick & use this for watching films & tv. We also both have our own businesses so switching off completely is a no no. sometimes we have to work a little bit too & with remote locations wifi is needed. ✔️ Ok so our visit to Lavender Cottage was incredible & exactly what we wanted from our stay. Beds very comfy ✔️ Bath ✔️ Shower ✔️ Log burner ✔️ Secure garden ✔️ Wifi ✔️ Towels & bedlinen provided ✔️ Welcome hamper ✔️ & so much more. ✔️ Lavender Cottage is in a great location , we had some amazing dog walks & saw so many fabulous places. Although set in a remote location, the shops are only a ten min drive away where you can get absolutely everything you may need. Specific Feedback now for the Garden for dog owners:- where do we start here, well our two dogs Poppy & Daisy absolutely loved the garden, they spent many many hours morning noon & night running around the flower beds , in & out of the small trees, chasing each other like 2 super excited puppy dogs. We got lots of pics & videos of them playing it will be something I cherish forever.

And one you fear advertising it as such in case you cannot get booked in to return! Yes, it was THAT good. The location of the cottage is of the very highest order- right in the country but near enough to towns with full facilities. If peace, silence and tranquility are your bag then this is the place for you. To sit in that huge garden with literally only the noise of the birds and buzzing bees was such an escape from our suburban normailty. When you arrive each time after a visit out and open the car door to be greeted by that quiet and sense of sheer peace really drew a sigh of relief and contentment. In all my cottage visits I have never experienced one as peaceful as this..its like the real world is miles and miles away. So much so that we never even had the tv on, a radio on, or listened to the news! Why spoil this haven of calm? To cap it all, the weather was beautiful the whole week and our outside visits so enjoyable. In truth both of us were more than happy when we got back to the cottage though lol. The owner Nicki is SO nice to talk to...just so very considerate and concerned only for your enjoyment. But the cottage itself I cannot speak highly enough of- you just have to go to see what I mean, photos never do places like this any justice. So yes, I fully recommend it , and yes, we will surely be back. This should be the very template of excellence that a country cottage could aspire to. The place was spotless and welcoming the owners had left us a bottle of fizz and a welcome hamper. We took our dog with us and he also had a dog pack which included a bed, bowls, towel and treats. The log burner was a real plus. The bathroom is amazing with the roll top bath and walk in shower which has two shower heads. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location yet just a stones throw from the amenities at Market Weighton.
