10 of us had the pleasure of staying in this fabulous holiday home to celebrate a significant family birthday. The kitchen is equipped with every utensil and convenience you could ever need and well stocked with crockery and cutlery. The Games room is simply brilliant and we all had such a memorable weekend. Small touches with even beach equipment and dog toys in the garage made it such a home from home. A memorable weekend and we definitely would love to go back. The owner is so friendly and helpful, my messages always answered promptly and nothing seemed too much bother. Thank you.

  • "Lovely spacious and comfortable home."

The property was very well equipped and beautifully clean. We visited with six adults, eight kids and a dog and all felt that we had plenty of room to socialise or have some quiet time if needed! Kids loved the games room and the dorm style attic room was extremely popular. Lovely location with easy access to the beach, Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Reighton House."

We were a party of 13 family members ranging in age from 72 to 1 year old. The house was very comfortable indeed , very warm, welcoming and well supplied with all equipment and furnishings, great heating, wi-fi, spacious and well equipped bedrooms, and modern and efficient bathrooms. We loved the garden and the barbecue and made good use of the games room. We were really pleased to be able to seat 12 with ease for a family celebration in the games room when we converted the pool table to a dining table. On site parking for 4 cars was easy. We heartily recommend this house as a lovely property, well-maintained, spacious and very comfortable.

The football table legs were broken & unable to play on it properly. All the pool cues had no or damaged tips so was largely unplayable. The fridge in kitchen was inadequate & door didn’t close properly. We purchased a cork screw as one in house was broken. There was no electric beater. We couldn’t understand why the main router was switched off but the wireless extenders had been left on.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry about the issues which arose, We have now replaced the fridge freezer with a new as you said it would not close properly, regarding the pool cues and table, i wish you would of reported the problem & we would of sorted this out straight away. We do have a hand blender but unfortunately not a electric beater. apart from these issues i hope you enjoyed your stay regards Property Owner

The garden was lovely. Some of the furniture was a little bit old and tired. No problem with the neighbour, as previous holiday makers had. We found the area to be quiet nearby with easy access to lovely beaches, further afield Scarborough and Filey were also nice but very busy.

  • ""Diamond in the rough" - Generally the house is lovely."

The house is very generous in space but more so in the bedrooms than the living areas. It's in a great location, handy for Filey beach and close enough to Scarborough to make it a lot cheaper that similar houses accommodating a large party. The garden is a great space, getting loads of sun in the summer months. Probably a better house for adults than parties with kids. Firstly, we'd like to state we would have booked this house for 2022 but it was already booked up. At first site it is a really impressive property, but after staying there a while we realised it needs more spent on it to be the luxury accommodation which it claims. It sleeps 15 but we found it very difficult to self cater with a mixed group of 10 people - 6 adults, 4 kids aged 1 - 6. The kitchen is OK, but didn't have the appliances to cope with our group, never mind one of 15 which it can sleep. It is well stocked with pans, crockery etc, but a lot has seen better days, especially the frying pans - non-stick doesn't last forever. The dishwasher is too small internally/doesn't have moveable shelves. You could not stack the plates normally without them stopping the spray rotors working. Lighting could also be better. There is an AGA which we only used for plate warming, so replace that with units and new ovens, at least 2 full size built in ovens. The existing one is a NEFF double oven, but the seal was coming away on the lower larger oven and it took almost half the time again to cook food. Needs changing. There isn't enough fridge and freezer space for a full house. It has a separate fridge and freezer in the utility, but make them full height as plenty of space to do so. Even getting shops delivered every other day, we struggled with the fridge space. Fridge-freezer in kitchen needs a defrost. They need to look at the mattresses. At least two in the 4 berth bedroom in the roof need replacing and generally they were not the best quality. Tech NEEDS an upgrade. Broadband is terrible!!! Simply doesn't work. We struggled to stream music, never mind a film for the kids when the rain set in. Can't remember when I last saw a TV using a SCART lead ;-) - 20 years ago? The main living room is a great size but would benefit from some more large lamps for the evening. We brought them down from the bedrooms, otherwise, just the harsh main light. Playroom would also benefit from this. We did have an issue with some bedding which was sorted out really quickly, but we also thought the cleaning of the bathrooms needed to be better. The garden is a great space. It would be great if the gates were lockable - particularly the one to the road. In short, I would say this house could be fantastic, but it needs more money spent on it. Perhaps with 15 beds it is overstretching itself. The kitchen in particular would struggle to cope for a party wanting to fully self-cater.

. The house is a.lovely clean and comfy place to enjoy your hols , the garden was good for the kids with the wall keeping them safe, we had meals out side most days , We went to the beach kids loved the sea , also. Cought the bus to the animal and.bird garden which was a great day out , we took a picnic most days , Only down side was the lady next door screaming and shouting at the Tesco delivery driver when he brought our grocery order , he was a bit shaken up with her she sounded scary . Anyway she said he was on her land . Which turned out it’s a right of way , which we pointed out to her a few days later when the dilivery man was due again , I got in touch with Graham and he was so helpful , anyway this lady didn’t spoil our holiday , so if you stay there just ignore her (l think she likes the sound of her own voice ) we will definitely go again in the future ,

  • "We had a lovely weekend at Reighton House."

The beds were comfy, bedrooms warm and cosy and there were hundreds of toilets! Being an old house it was a bit breezy near the sitting room window and the front door. But we had plenty to keep us warm. The games room was great fun and converted beautifully into a dining room! We had a lovely stay. As we had only booked two nights we had to leave at 10 which was a bit of a rush so ideally we would have preferred a later check out but we understood why it had to be 10. Thank you.

Ideal for family gatherings / special family occasions. Everything that is needed is there. Bedrooms / Beds reasonable. Bathroom / Showering facilities good. My only criticism was the TV in the lounge. I believe the TV volume was poor. Even at highest volume (100) it was difficult to hear. Overall very good.

  • "The house has clearly deteriorated since the photos were taken and I was disappointed with certain aspects, For example the sofas were old and the seat cushions kept falling off."

Some of the bed linen needs to be replaced and the shower tray in bedroom 3, where we stayed, was not clean. We had to put all our rubbish in black bin bags and put these in a large wheely bin. This was not difficult but the issue is that I hope the contents of the bags are recycled at some point down the line as there was glass, plastic and paper in the bags. There was a major uncomfortable incident on Saturday morning regarding the adjacent farm next door and I will telephone later to explain what happened.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
