  • "A lovely, comfortable, clean and well equipped property."

The television didn’t work and the toilet seat needed refitting but neither affected our stay. We didn’t have any difficulties parking. We would definitely return.

  • "We stayed in Riverside Chapel with our two teenage children last week and had a wonderful holiday in Great Ayton."

The house was beautifully decorated and a had really luxurious and comfortable feeling about it. It was a great location, within walking distance from Roseberry Topping and some really nice pubs and cafes. We recommend The Poor House for pizza, which is 5 minutes walk from the house, as well as The Royal Oak, which is just next to the village Green. Our two really appreciated the table tennis room and we had some great matches as a family! A thoroughly enjoyable stay. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

  • "Furniture and kitchen equipment was of a very good standard."

All rooms very clean and a very nice welcome pack provided. Beds were very comfortable. Only thing stopping us giving five stars was the size of the lounge. As we were only three adults there was enough room for us to watch tv in the evening (Euros!) but as the accommodation is for six cannot see how they would all fit in. If the table tennis room could be converted it would be perfect. Great location for getting out to coast etc. Good places to eat locally. We did all "miss" the steep step at the front door after we had unpacked. Unexpected and perhaps could be added to property description.

  • "Riverside Chapel is light and airy, tastefully decorated and very well equipped."

With 3 bedrooms it would be ideal for an active family. Located at the quieter end of Great Ayton High Street it is still close to several restaurants, pubs and shops and is an ideal starting point for exploring the many attractions of the North Yorkshire Moors.

  • "Very well furnished and a very good spec."

Excellent location with free parking nearby. Comfortable lounge which may be too small for larger families , it was fine for us though. Added bonus of a table tennis table in the garage. We burnt a few calories playing a game or two. Initial problem with heating which was quickly sorted by the very friendly owners. After this , the place heated up well and we were nice and cosy.

Parking was ok only had issue when arriving back later one evening.

  • "Lovely well decorated converted chapel, everything you need for a weeks stay."

Parking was a bit problematic, but local works to the bridge did create less parking space within the area. Great Ayton offered lots of local walks, so great if you have a dog and a nice ice cream from Suggitts. Lots of places to eat, Fletchers farm a must for breakfast! The food at the local pub the Buck, very nice. All places were well priced. Will definitely return.

Thank you very much for you valued feedback and we are glad you enjoyed the delights of Great Ayton. Unfortunately, the road works are essential as the bridge was subsiding. Hopefully, the road will be much different on your return to Riverside Chapel. Property Owner

Furnished to an excellent standard, Riverside Chapel is a fabulous abode for a family or group of six looking to stay in this part of North Yorkshire.

Upon arrival you are greeted by an off-road parking space where you can leave your car as you unload your belongings.

Allow the chef in your party to take over the kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and freezer, so there’s plenty on hand to assist with home-cooking.

Just off the kitchen is a games room, complete with table tennis so you can while away the hours on a rainy day, along with a washing machine and tumble dryer for keeping on top of the laundry.

Kick back in the sitting room and catch up on your favourite TV shows, or simply reflect on the day’s adventures.

As you look to settle down, enjoy a soothing bath before choosing between the three bedrooms to catch some rest, including a king-size, four-poster double with en-suite shower room and a twin room, each neutrally presented with ample storage space.

From the door you can easily access the delights of the Great Ayton, a bustling village that is steeped in history, aided by its connections to Captain Cook.

Visit the museum that used to serve as his schoolroom, savour a pint at a local pub or enjoy a relaxed picnic by the river.

About the location

GREAT AYTON

Stokesley 3 miles; Guisborough 7 miles; Middlesbrough 8 miles.

The attractive village of Great Ayton lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Great Ayton is famous for being the boyhood home of Captain Cook, and is also mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village consists of a mixture of pretty stone cottages and some new development housing. Great Ayton has two village greens, with a river running alongside, making it a popular picnic spot in the summer months. To the north of the village, the view is dominated by Roseberry Topping, a 330-metre hill. In the village are a good range of shops and inns, which, together with restaurants and cafes, cater well for holidaymakers. There is also the old school, now converted into the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum. Around the village are several interesting walks, and Great Ayton makes a great base for walkers wishing to explore the stunning countryside. A good base for market towns, the lovely countryside and, just a short drive, the East Coast.
