  • “Lovely large spaciou prooerty in a great setting.”

Owners really friendly and helpful. Milk, butter and eggs in the fridge upon arrival along with a lovely cake. Plus tea, coffee and sugar. Big garden with peacocks wandering and the local hares popping in and playing. Lots to do in surrounding area, York and Scarborough not far away. Lovely walks around. Would highly recommend and will be going back.

The property

Settled on a working farm in the North Yorkshire village of Sherburn, High Mill Cottage is a large family holiday home, perfect for a family gathering.

Within easy reach of both the coast and the rolling countryside of the North York Moors, High Mill Cottage is a great base for adventures across the Ryedale district.

As you enter the property you'll find a handy cloakroom and utility room to the left, complete with a washing machine to keep your clothes fresh throughout your stay.

Continue through into the spacious open-plan living space, beginning with an impressive kitchen boasting a large range cooker and an American-style fridge/freezer.

Cook up a storm in here before serving up a feast at the dining table, with plush seating for the group to retire to following your meal to carry on the conversation, or walk across the slate floors to the patio doors to let a warm breeze enter in summer.

Plan a film night one evening hosted in the main sitting room, with a woodburning stove in here to add a cosy ambiance and more soft seating to relax on.

Head upstairs to the family bathroom to feel refreshed following a day of adventures, with a bath and separate walk-in shower, before settling down in your bedroom of choice.

Discover three first-floor bedrooms, including two king-size rooms and a twin room, while a further set of stairs brings you to the master bedroom on the second-floor, with lovely countryside views to wake up to from the king-size bed, and an en-suite bathroom to enjoy.

The local amenities of Sherburn are just half a mile away, with local shops and a well-established pub providing all the essentials for a great self-catered stay, while the market town and Yorkshire's Food Capital, Malton, lies just a 20-minute drive away.

Browse the fabulous artisan food shops of Malton with lots to choose from at Talbot Yard Food Court and the monthly food market, or visit during one of the several events hosted in Malton like The Malton Gin Festival, Meadowfest Music Festival and Beertown.

A fun-filled family day out can be enjoyed closer to home at The Great Ryedale Maze which is just round the corner from High Mill Cottage, or head to Flamingo Land Resort for rollercoasters, rides and a zoo.

Venture over to the coast to Filey for a walk along Filey Brigg for epic scenery of Filey Bay and out to the North Sea, with Filey Beach home to a vast expanse of sand to relax on or explore for rockpools!

The town of Scarborough has plenty to entertain too, with its medieval castle standing atop the headland, affording breath-taking views, two beaches, Peasholm Park and wealth of beachfront amusements and eateries.

The North York Moors National Park is bursting with beautiful walking and cycling routes as well as exciting attractions like Go Ape Dalby.

Enjoy a fabulous family break to North Yorkshire from High Mill Cottage.
