"Very nice clean property in lovely location."
This was my second visit And always a pleasure to stay here. The owls at night were calling to each other really nice to hear. Thank you Rob
"Our 2 week stay was perfect in every way."
The hosts were friendly helpful and on hand if we needed but not obtrusive. The farm and surrounding land is excellent for walking our dog who thoroughly enjoyed running free in the fields. The cottage is extremely well stocked and instructions & guidance is some of the best we have seen. We know the area very well as we are locals (in between house moves) so we really loved being able to relax in this wonderful setting at a stressful time for us. The cottage was very spacious for the 2 of us , had a lovely cosy open fire, 2 bathrooms and a second bedroom which we used to store our interim belongings, would have stayed an extra week but unsurprisingly the cottage is fully booked, would highly recommend
"Summer field cottage is warm and cosy."
It is ideal for visiting so many places in north yorkshire.it is always clean and has everything you need.the stairs would be steep for any one with walking difficulties.we have visited three times and would recommend it.
"We found the cottage snug and cheerful on wild, wet November days and nights."
The batterie de cuisine is admirably complete, clearly stocked by someone who realises that holidaymakers really do sometimes want to cook! Sufficient knives, chopping boards, big enough saucepans etc. Good-sized rooms throughout. When we had a temporary problem with the hot water, Fiona responded very quickly and came round to reset the controls. I will mention here (NOT an issue with the cottage, but with the email I received from Sykes) that the directions for finding Summerfield website are unnecessarily complicated. Luckily I contacted Fiona in advance, and she gave me crystal clear, accurate and simple directions.
"We had a lovely time at Summerfield Cottage."
The garden was really secure for our dog, the views were amazing. Everything was clean and comfortable. We met the owner once and she was really helpful, advising us about short cuts to get on the Moors. Fabulous! Would definitely recommend
"The cottage was beautiful and the location for sightseeing was superb as there was so much to see and do in the area."
Everything we needed was supplied. The owners were so friendly and helpful and we would like to especially thank them for assisting us to locate the cottage. Judy & Dan
"A late booking to take advantage of the early Sept sun, so we enjoyed glorious weather throughout our stay."
The cottage is located in beautiful countryside and ideally placed to explore the east coastline an hour away or lots of lovely places closer by. Our dog enjoyed the pretty self enclosed garden, as did we. Friendly and welcoming owners next door should you need them, but not at all intrusive. Perfect cottage for a relaxing break.
"We loved our stay at the cottage it’s the third time we have been there and it was as lovely as ever, peace and quiet nice enclosed garden for our dog to run around in,will be coming back."
"The ambience of this holiday cottage is really relaxing."
If you’re looking for ultra-modern it might not be for you, but if you want rural slower-paced life, watching animals and birds, this would be ideal. This was our second visit. The kids demanded to return because there is great tyre swing in the farm yard, and two friendly outdoor farm cats. This year there were also chickens that enthusiastically sought us out for bird seeds and oats. The cottage is really conveniently located for days out under twenty minutes’ drive away: Riveaulx Terrace, Riveaulx Abbey, Byland Abbey, Helmsley Castle, Helmsley Walled Garden, Nunnington Hall, North York Moors Railway and more. We would warmly recommend the National Birds of Prey Centre in Duncombe Park.
"This is a lovely, comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage with good wi-fi connection."
It is in a good location for exploring the surrounding countryside.
"A comfortable cottage with everything you need."
Situated in a beautiful area surrounded by fields, along with the sheep cows and hens enabling a tranquil stay. The cats are inquisitive and love a fuss. The owners are next door, they are friendly and very helpful but not at all intrusive, the perfect hosts. A great place to stay to unwind with lots to do in the area and somewhere for everyone a little further afield.
"We had a very enjoyable stay, and the property was in a lovely location."
The Cottage was very comfortable, and all the appliances worked well for us. We would be very happy to have another holiday there. I found the stairs a bit steep, but my mobility is not the best, and most people would manage them fine. My wife did have a fall on the first evening, as there was a unexpected step down as soon as you enter the twin bedroom - she was a bit bruised, but soon recovered. Many thanks to Fiona.
"Lovely place to stay."
Made really welcome by the family who own the farmhouse.
"We had a lovely few days restful holiday - cut a bit short at either end due to our little dog who wasnt very well."
Such a comfortable cottage and Fiona and Ryan the owners are lovely people. It was our second visit and while we didn't go as far as we would have liked this time we enjoyed walks around Nunnington Hall and shopped at Morrisons in Malton. Thank you for the Free Range eggs Fiona they had exceptional flavour.Would thoroughly recommend this cottage - it is home from home and there is everything there that you might need for your stay.
"A really nice place to stay."
Our five year old was delighted to see the sheep and chickens and to help feed the pigs. Fiona and her family were really welcoming, and we also had plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay again if we're in the area.
"Very comfortable cottage with everything we needed."
Views were lovely with lots of garden birds. Rare tree sparrows came to our feeder along with many others which we really enjoyed. Whole area and villages very beautiful.
"A fantastic cottage and managed to light the fire without mishap."
Lived up to expectations.
"Enjoyed our second stay at summer field cottage."
It is always clean, warm and welcoming. We hope to return again as there is so much to see in the area.
"Ideal quiet location and easy to get to many places in the surrounding district."
Lovely outdoor seating area in the garden, comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen. Would definitely recommend.
"Was this property perfect?"
No, the kitchen was a bit cramped, the upstairs shower room a bit narrow, and we couldn’t find enough tall glasses in the cupboard. But did we love it and would be come again? Yes, absolutely. It was such a relaxing place with a pleasant sheltered garden. Best of all were the things that weren’t in the listing. There was some play equipment in the yard and the boys absolutely loved the tyre swing. There were some very friendly fluffy cats around to stroke. And there is a small quiet airfield close by and one of the pilots showed off his skills doing loop the loops and dives. Lots to do close by. The kids enjoyed the adventure play area at Castle Howard the best. Had a lovely time here.
Cottage is beginning to look a little tired, and is quite sparse however it didn't distract our stay. It would have been good to have a welcome note, or booklet to explain the favourite spots, or must-do visits in the area - there is so many hidden gems so it would be good to share the local knowledge. The two farm cats are very friendly and greeted us most mornings and evening!
"Beautiful little cottage perfect for a family get-away."
The place was lovely and clean, well equipped with tranquil views of the countryside. Ideal location for visiting both the Yorkshire moors and the dales. Hosts welcoming. A great find, we hope to be back!
"Shame the description online differed to what was actually available."
Garden furniture was insufficient for 4 people, and when requested more seating, we were offered 2 plastic chairs. No eggs were available although the description said collect your own eggs for breakfast, no sight of any chickens or a reason why. We had a few people approaching us at the cottage about loose sheep and also a user of the adjacent caravan and camping site trying to contact the owners, who were not available during the day.
"Just got back from a wonderful stay at Summerfield cottage."
Beautiful area and just a few minutes drive to Harome & Helmsley. The cottage is lovely with everything you need, as we were blessed with gorgeous weather a little more outdoor furniture is all I would ask for. Lovely and relaxing stay and so quiet. Would certainly recommend.
"HAD A LOVELY TIME COTTAGE WAS VERY HOMELY."
.OWNERS VERY WELCOMING.EVERYTHING CATERED FOR ALL OUR NEEDS..THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY STAY..
"Lovely comfortable cottage in beautiful quiet location."
Plenty of places to visit and activities to do. Highlights were Helmsley, Rievaulx Abbey, the coast especially Whitby (best fish and chips at the Fisherman’s Wife) and Bempton Cliffs, walking on the moors and visiting RHS Harlow Carr.
"We had a wonderful stay at this cosy cottage."
Lovely views from all the rooms and a very warm welcome. We would love to stay here again.
"Summer field Cottage was a perfect get-away."
This was a first holiday since Covid. The cottage was a home from home. Everything you needed. The cottage was clean and comfortable an in a great location. We got to explore Yorkshire and had the perfect base to return to. The beds were so comfortable! The owners were friendly day and even gave us eggs and let us visit the new born lambs. Would have no hesitation to return and ro recommend.
"Lovely quaint little cottage, very homely with a wood burning fire."
"The cottage was in a beautiful location and had everything we needed."
Our hosts made us feel very welcome. There is a lot to explore in the area and we would definitely return.
"Cosy and very comfortable, we enjoyed our stay."
A good base for getting our and about but also lovely to come back to. Appreciated privacy and quiet, views from windows and whole range of kitchen amenities. Excellent wi-fi meant managed to do some remote work as well. Thank you for welcome fire pack and cake.
"Lovely, old, stone cottage in beautiful location, 5-10minute drive to the town of Helmsley."
We were welcomed with a sticky ginger cake left for us in the kitchen upon our arrival. The cottage was comfortable with a really well-equipped kitchen, including In the pantry an iron & board, mop & bucket, sweeping brush & dust-pan, vacuum cleaner & recycling boxes & plenty of cleaning products & cloths & washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets. Nice touches & saves having to bring or buy those additional items. The property was clean and we had everything we needed. The owners left equipment & logs for a fire for the first night, which was nice. We didn't light a fire though because we didn't spend much time in the cottage. Really enjoyed our stay & would definitely book again.
"Had a lovely stay the cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable."
Although it was winter we still had good views out of the window and enjoyed watching the chickens and sheep. The property was connected to the owners but very private with its own garden. I would love to return in the summer and spend more time in the area as lots of small friendly towns around
"Absolutely brilliant stay, in the middle of nowhere with only sheep next door and a friendly chicken for company."
We really enjoyed the peacefulness and had a great time just relaxing. We would love to go back I didn't want to leave the tranquil surroundings to come back to normality.
"Very clean, very peaceful."
Lovely log fire , great location for exploring nearby , will hopefully stay again.
"We hope to book the cottage again."
We were egg-static about the welcome half-dozen and the double mattress is the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The wi-fi was great too and the teenager was able to do his uni tutorials on Zoom. It was lovely to see The Grapes thriving in Slingsby and catch up with many local relations and friends. Jon and Josh
"We had a lovely peaceful holiday thank you would recommend this cottage - it was very comfortable and everything you needed was there."
Would stay there again if in the area
"Lovely area very quiet."
Cottage was very nice all updated to modern standard .would stay again if in area
"The owners are friendly and welcoming."
The cottage is warm and comfortable. It is a little bit away from the village and no footpaths directly from the farm, However, we enjoyed our stay, it was quiet and relaxing and we enjoyed exploring the area.
"A really lovely as advertised cottage."
We would definitely visit again. The owners also went above and beyond to support us when we needed local information etc. My 5 year old loved it. Thank you
"The cottage was lovely ."
Clean and comfortable. A lovely kitchen to cook in with modern facilities . lovely location too and excellent for local attractions and cycling in the area. Very quiet and peaceful for a restful holiday. John
"We have just returned from a lovely week at Summerfield Farm Cottage."
The location was perfect for us as it was peaceful but not too far from walking/places to see and a shop in Kirkbymoorside. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed and they clearly consider Covid cleaning between stays. My only slight negative comments would be that some rooms are starting to look like they could do with a lick of paint and also maybe a clearer signage of the main farmhouse as the few quiet caravans that were there kept getting mixed up and trying to come pay us for their plot! This wouldn’t put us off staying here again though.
"Great location for exploring the North Yorkshire moors and coast, the house is a bit old fashioned but is clean and warm, the stairs are a bit steep and the bathroom is tagged onto the property in a cold extention, however there is a second shower room upstairs which is OK."
The master bedroom could do with blackout curtains, we were woken each day at 5AM by the sun.
"Lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings."
Also has an enclosed garden with table and chairs, great views, huge trees.
"Summerfield cottage was lovely, very comfortable and clean."
Perhaps the best equipped kitchen in any cottage we’ve stayed in, even though we didn’t do any cooking. Fiona was very helpful and the eggs are just delicious!
"All very good Fiona was very helpful overall we had a great time"
"Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this delightful part of Yorkshire, the cottage was excellent, warm, plenty of hot water, good facilities, kitchen a bit tight for two people moving around."
Lovely position, really quiet and views over the countryside, Helmsley very interesting town.
"Spacious and comfortable."
Warm and for want of better word cosy
"We had a great holiday , because of the Covid 19 restrictions the owner had to remove the usual local information leaflets/maps etc so we had to do our own research online although the owner was very helpful with pointing out places to eat locally ."
"The hosts did a great job at very short notice to accommodate us and were really helpful when we were there."
A lovely little find!
"We had a lovely time at Summerfield Farm Cottage near Helmsley."
It was warm, cosy and clean with good cooking facilities and really comfortable beds. The owners were very welcoming and respectful and provided gorgeous fresh eggs on arrival. We had booked to go in spring but when Covid hit I cancelled the booking and rebooked for later. Sykes were very good with communications, refund and rebooking and all information was clear. Thank you!
"Cottage was lovely, really had everything you needed."
Lovely outdoor space ideal for our small dog as secure all round. Great swing which the kids enjoyed and seeing the pigs. Lovely touch with the fresh eggs left for us. Clean and comfortable. Beautiful area our first time of exploring, so much to do as long as you have the car as cottage out in the countryside. Beautifully quiet and peaceful a real get away. Great Covid secure plan and instructions. Definitely be returning.
"A beautiful, peaceful setting."
gorgeous views from every window! Lots of places to go walking in the area. The garden is great for relaxing at the end of the day. We enjoyed exploring round the farm and meeting up with the animals. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and had all the kitchen equipment we needed. In these COVID times I would recommend organising a grocery delivery from one of the supermarkets based in Malton. The family were welcoming (loved the banana bread) friendly and available when we needed to ask anything but also gave us our privacy. We enjoyed a fantastic week.
