  • "Shetland cottage is very comfortable, extremely clean and well equipped."

It is set in an ideal position for visiting York. Alison the owner is friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive at the same time. A welcome pack is a nice touch. We would certainly recommend this property.

  • "A beautiful location with easy and secure parking."

The cottage is even better than the photos. It has everything you might need plus a whole lot more: The owners and neighbours are friendly and helpful without being intrusive, just the right balance. It is spotlessly clean and has a comfortable, cosy & characterful lounge to relax in and a well equipped kitchen. It has a huge comfy bed and plenty of storage. We loved the skylights, and the choices in different lighting throughout made it even more comfy. The welcome gifts of bread, milk etc and being able to enjoy a nice hot drink on arrival were most welcome and useful after our long drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely crisp early morning, autumn walks along the adjacent picturesque bridle paths; the bird song, nature, sheep and cattle were an absolute joy. Easy to get to the centre of York plus good local shops, restaurants & take-aways etc. We were staying here with an assistance dog whilst working in York. We will definitely be back for a leisure stay, this was too idilic a cottage not to. Absolutely perfect!

  • "Fabulous holiday cottage for our autumn half term break."

Excellent links into York (bus stop outside) or up into the moors and surrounding area. So much to do locally. Lovely cottage, well equipped (would be made even better by a real log burner and smart tv, but this didn’t impact on our holiday!), and lovely friendly host. We would thoroughly recommend and will be back.

  • "Loved the idea of being just outside the hub of the city but only a ten minute bus ride with bus stop minutes from cottage."

Lovely walks nearby. The cottage had everything we needed and the beautiful large garden available if we wished. The bridal path by side of garden takes you across a field, through a churchyard and to a good pub with excellent food. Alison the owner was on hand if we needed anything without being intrusive. If visiting York again would certainly stay again.

We had a lovely stay and getting into York centre was so easy with a fast and frequent bus service with the stop an easy walk away. Great Indian restaurant 10 mins walk up the road and a lovely walk over the fields behind the property to a nice pub over the river. Much appreciated welcome pack, will definitely book again next time we visit York.

We couldn’t praise it enough, the cottage was spotless and so pretty. The owner was really lovely, she came straight round to greet us when we couldn’t figure out how to use the fire oops :) The bed was so so so comfy!! It had everything we needed, we even got teabags, coffee, etc. It’s a perfect location; close to the town and it has a beautiful restaurant right around the corner. If you don’t visit the Shetland then you are missing out!

  • "Can not wait to go back, the barn was a home from home everything you could think of was there."

Tea and coffee waiting for us and fresh flowers in the bedroom a really nice touch, it was lovely and warm which was great as the weather was not the best, the electric stove made the living room feel really welcoming just by using the light element. The barn was immaculate and all the cleaning supplies where left for us to use including washing powder and dishwasher tables. Really can not rate this place high enough, I have already recommended it to my friends and family and we will be back soon.

.. stylish, warm, clean and comfortable. Alison made us feel very welcome, and at ease. The homemade bread, milk and tea bags were very welcoming after our long drive. Was a delight to stay at. The hosts gave me a wonderful warm welcome, and treated me more like family than someone just there for a holiday. I will definitely be coming back for another vacation and that is a promise. The pictures do not give it justice, it is far better. Well proportioned rooms (The bedroom is massive). Very nice kitchen, using the space well including dishwasher. Bathroom was the right size for 2 people. With a lovely lounge with dining area settee Sky tv, and a great log effect fire, even just on without any heat made the lounge looked lovely at night looked like a real fire. The cottage was nice and warm. Lastly Car parking space opposite your front door. York only a few minutes away by car, with plenty of places to visit in York and the surrounding area. Retail park only a short distance away. A big 10 out of 10 from myself
