    Mr Martin

“This was mine and my boyfriends first break away and our first time in York!”

We couldn’t praise it enough, the cottage was spotless and so pretty. The owner was really lovely, she came straight round to greet us when we couldn’t figure out how to use the fire oops :) The bed was so so so comfy!! It had everything we needed, we even got teabags, coffee, etc. It’s a perfect location; close to the town and it has a beautiful restaurant right around the corner. If you don’t visit the Shetland then you are missing out!

The property

York centre 3 miles.

The Shetland sits as part of a barn conversion, gorgeously restored and situated on the outskirts of the magnificent city of York.

With a spectacular city at your fingertips, this is the perfect base for a romantic retreat.

Upon entering the property, you will be instantly greeted by the immaculate interior, a contemporary fully-equipped kitchen sits adjacent to a quirky dining table set perfectly for a delicious meal for two.

Wander into the sitting area where you will stumble upon an attractive brick fireplace as well as a Sky TV; curl up with your other half and unwind in this charming layout.

A pristine bathroom lies just off of the living area, boasting an all-white suite and being enhanced by high-vaulted ceilings.

Finally, discover the tastefully decorated bedroom, also with a vaulted ceiling and rustic wooden beams, a king-size bed is wonderfully cosy so you can re-fuel before another day of exploring this fine area.

The centre of York is 3 miles from the property; this remarkable city is bursting with striking architecture and quaint cobbled streets hosting charming shops, pubs and cafés.

There is also much to do with a number of museums, York races and the well-known Jorvik Viking Centre.

For a dose of fresh country air, both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors National Parks are easily reachable and offer some astounding scenery with a network of idyllic walking and cycling paths.

A lovely cottage for exploring the area.

The city of York needs no recommendation, for it teems with interest for the holidaymaker: the Minster, its medieval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums(including the famous National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum), and the internationally-renowned Jorvik Viking Centre and its "time trip" experience. Summer and winter, there is something to fascinate the whole family. Explore York’s quaint streets and hidden corners, or take an excursion further afield to the Dales, Moors or the coastal resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey.
