The house is a little tired, the showers had fixed heads so you couldn't lower them, annoying if you don't want wet hair, also hot water tripped on Friday meaning no showers that morning as huge water tank took hours to reheat. There were air fresheners all over the place causing respiratory symptoms in two of our party, took us a couple of days to make the connection and once we relocated them to the bar-b-q our symptoms settled, we did put them back in the house prior to leaving. Also bit of a nuisance not being able to park on the drive as booklet requests constant access to rear yard for access to electric car charger, meaning vehicles have to be wedged under a tree at the front and passengers have to get out before this procedure.

The property

Helmsley 0.5 miles.

A spacious accommodation, resting on the edge of Helmsley, with heart-warming features and a sense of comfort that continues room to room.

The whole family can make themselves at home, with two lounge areas housing charm-filled woodburners and plenty of seating to ensure you can relax in style.

For a change of scenery, the conservatory is wrapped in views of the garden and makes an excellent spot to dine with your loved ones after the sun sets.

Close by, the kitchen features a breakfast bar, where you can enjoy those warm cups of tea in the morning hours, and a utility area with cloakroom completes the ground floor.

If you can steer yourselves away from it all, the four bedrooms are located upstairs, each presented to a lovely standard, leaving you spoilt for choice when it comes to a good nights sleep.

Conveniently, a shower room, a cloakroom and a fully fitted bathroom lie close by, so everyone has somewhere to get ready ahead of those exciting adventures.

To experience the fresh air, wander outside to the garden, accessed via patio doors from the lounge, or the conservatory.

Here you can choose from a selection of seating and take in the beautiful location at your own leisure.

There is more to see in Hemsley, home to its own 12th century castle, an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer months.

With wonderful walks on the doorstep you can explore the pretty villages that surround the area, and less than an hour's drive south, lies York.

Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, are not too far away, proving this to be a delightful base for sightseeing all-year round.

About the location

HELMSLEY

Kirkbymoorside 6 miles; Thirsk 14 miles; Pickering 13 miles; York 26 miles.

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.
