"Coranation Cottage is very handy for getting to the shops resturants in the centre of Helmsley."
The only drawback is the lack of parking on site but there are usually spaces just a short walk away. Everything nice and clean, beds very comfy.David the owner is next door and had left milk & biscuits for us which was a nice touch. Hope to return in the near future .
"Great cottage and location, furniture a bit tired"
"Coronation Cottage is small but has everything you need for a holiday."
Brilliant location, right in the centre of the village but private and quiet with a small outside seating area.
"This cottage was in general need of cleaning with cobwebs in every room and a smell of foist coming from furniture in living room."
Generally disappointing although the location couldn't be better
"Lovely cottage but the furniture was so old and in need of replacing nowhere to ..."
Lovely cottage but the furniture was so old and in need of replacing nowhere to sit in comfort it was very noisy through the night with the banging and cracking from the roof David was a great host with offers of help daily the fresh milk and biscuits for our arrival was a very nice touch
"Lovely cottage, quiet but a stones throw away to the town with plenty of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops."
The cottage was clean, cosy, comfortable and well equipped.
"This cottage was a little dated, it could have had a really good clean, there were cobwebs in the majority of the rooms, the television was so old it neither had BB1 or BBC2 otherwise we had a delightful stay."
"We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage."
The Cottage was well equipped and had everything to make a perfect getaway. Helmsley is a gem and the cottage was right in the centre but tucked away in a quiet location. Perfect.
"Great place , in a fab village."
Lots of great cafes, pubs & shops close by. The WiFi is very sketchy & not reliable, if you want to work at this cottage don’t rely on the WiFi.
"Very well located rignt in the centre of Helmsley."
Private and quiet.Owner very obliging and knowledgable about the area.
"The cottage was lovely very clean and comfortable."
The cottage is in a central location but also very quiet. A very warm welcome from David . It was lovely to be able to have a cup of tea on arrival as milk tea and coffee were left for us. Thank you
"Coronation cottage is a very cosy cottage in an excellent location, right in the middle of Helmsley, close to shops, pubs and cafes."
Very comfortable, with excellent facilities. Thoroughly recommend Helmsley for a fabulous holiday- it’s an excellent base from which to explore the Yorkshire Moors.
"Coronation Cottage fulfilled our hopes, being quiet, well located for exploring an unfamiliar region, comfortable bedding (more so than than the sofas), and well equipped kitchen."
It had been cleaned well and some essentials left in the kitchen which were appreciated. The village offers a full complement of shopping opportunities, but it is unfortunate that the A170 road runs straight through. Lack of direct parking access was readily resolved. The slightly temperamnetal wifi signal posed occasional problems, but then our Somerset village has even worse signals! A strong request would be for the interesting information about the cottage to be made available in printed/typed form.
"David was very helpful helped settle us in lots of information left as guidance for us"
"Lovely little cottage in a good location in an attractive village."
Although there is no parking at the cottage there is an area for a quick load or unload before having to park in nearby streets. Very warm and cosy. Might be worth noting that attractions around the area do not open until end of March for those intending to visit local museums etc. Lots of eating out options in the village; we liked the Royal Oak in the square, good food and good choice of real ales. Some lovely walks around the area, would recommend
"Lovely cosy cottage with access to everything in Helmsley Very clean and peaceful"

The holiday and cottage was great the only downside was the lack of a parking space for the car so this meant you had to find a parking space in a near by road
In a superb location. Would certainly use again. Lots of extras. Just like being at home! Only downside was the key collection details. This could certainly be better organised.
"Great cottage in a brilliant situation."
Owner very helpful and the little extras e.g. water, milk and biscuits were nice.
"WiFi would be nice in this modern world."
"Lovely cosy cottage in an excellent location."
We would book again if visiting Hemsley.
"Excellent location in the centre of Helmsley."
Charming quiet little cottage. Very clean. The owner lives c!ose by and was most helpful about the surrounding area and local eateries. Best fish and chips ever only a few yards from the door. Thoroughly recommended.
"Good base to explore North Yorkshire."
Close to the centre of the town but very quiet.
"We had a lovely weekend."
A brilliant cottage hidden away in a secluded spot but in the heart of Helmsley. It was very comfortable and clean with lots of lovely touches to make it feel like a home away from home. The owner was friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be recommending the cottage to our friends and family.
"We particularly like the location of Coronation Cottage, the wood burner and the decor and size of the property."
Plus the owner was nearby and very friendly without being intrusive.
"In a central though quiet location in the heart of Helmsley, a lovely vibrant town with great shops and pubs."
The local micro brewery serves some of the best beer I have ever tasted. A cosy cottage with excellent wet room and comfy beds.
"Liked the location and cleanliness, overall a beautiful cottage."
"Helmsley is a beautiful location."
Coronation Cottage is located right in the heart of the quaint little town but once inside you would never know! It was quiet and peaceful and very homely. It was lovely to hear the robins in the garden and I am sure in summer the garden would be beautiful! I would definitely stay there again!
"A very cosy cottage with a lovely log burner for a winter stay."
Quiet surroundings despite being very close to the centre of Helmsley.
"We loved the location, privacy, surrounding countryside and local attractions."
"The location of the cottage was excellent, in the centre of the town but away from noise."
It was ideally situated for visiting places of interest; we visited Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Abbey as well as Helmsley Castle. All well worth a visit. We would certainly recommend this cottage to others and if in Helmsley again would certainly stay here. The owner came and introduced himself to my friends husband which we thought was a very nice touch he'd also left milk and biscuits and also a bottle of water for each of us (never had this anywhere else.Thank you)

About the location
Kirkbymoorside 6 miles; Thirsk 14 miles; Pickering 13 miles; York 26 miles.
Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.
