  • "Great location and lovely property."

We really enjoyed our stay. A few suggestions you may wish to consider: 1) The shower is great. However, the temperature control is challenging to turn down. The knob is very stiff and hard to turn. I would suggest contacting a plumber to resolve incase someone scalds themselves. 2) The two fridges under the stairs were useful. However, the main fridge had been turned to the maximum, which we did not notice. This unfortunately froze much of our food and we had to throw away our salads, cucumber, peppers, lettuce & tomatoes. And some ham. Please check the settings before letting. 3) A few more utensils in the kitchen would be helpful, specifically some backing trays and oven dishes. It was challenging to do a roast dinner with what was available Other than this we had a great stay and loved the location and the hot tub

  • "Really nice property in a very charming village."

House has a number of attractive period features. It is spacious, well furnished, clean and very pleasant to stay in. There are two large settees in the living room which were extremely comfortable. The bedrooms were excellent as was the bathroom. Kitchen was excellent with good quality electrical goods. Really nice dining room table. Only real downside is that there is only one toilet but that wasn't a particular problem for us, even though we had 4 adults in our party. Heating was very good but the water temperature in the shower was a little hot but just about manageable. Overall a top quality property which I very much recommend.

! It was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The hot tub was a great addition for us after long days walking. The location allowed us to strike out to a different place every day and we would not hesitate to book again

Rural location but lots of dog walking routes. Also had a nice meal at the local dog friendly pub.

Good facilities. The welcome pack, log fire and abundance of logs was very welcome for the cold March we stayed. Lots of good walks and attractions nearby. Quad nation in Tadcaster was really good fun. Hot tub got lots of use

  • "Brilliant from start to finish, the description of the cottage is sport on apart from how large and comfortable it is."

The owner had a Christmas tree up on are arrival and lovely biscuits, excellent touch. The pub nearby 5 doors along was very friendly with great owners and staff first class beers and entertainment we had a visit from Morris dances. The butcher next door was lovely great bloke my dog loves him, thanks for the bones. We ate in every night with great meats from the butcher or takeaways from the nearby village. Spot on one of the best. Only tip could you please purchase a stair gate to stop the dog getting upstairs. Thank you

  • "My family and I stayed for a week in November ."

The property itself is perfect , clean spacious and characterful. We used the hot tub all but one night and loved it . The village is also lovely . The only downsides was the pub was closed until Thursday (this could be due to the time of year ) and owners advised against the only restaurant in the village .

  • "Wonderful stay!"

Super quaint town, the whole family LOVED the hot tub and wood brining fireplace! Great family stay, just be mindful that there is no tub for very little ones. Close to York and took a day trip out to Whitby which was lovely as well!

Would use again if in the area again. Hot tub is a fab bonus. The only thing is the garden is very small.

  • "This really is a great holiday property."

We booked to celebrate a special birthday with the family. The property has plenty of space, was very clean and organised, and the whole party loved it. The beds were really comfortable, great TV and WiFi (if that's important to you) and kitchen was well stocked (loved the plenty of classy mugs). The hot tub was lovely and hot and very clean. The village is friendly with 2 quiet pubs - preferred the Golden Lion. I would highly rate this cottage, and given the opportunity would happily visit again.

  • "We enjoyed our holiday at the Old Post Office, fantastic!"

It was clean, quiet, good location, everything you needed and as I messaged the owner; it was a home away from home. Good location to a number of sites and the people made it that extra special. Only suggestion would be a WC downstairs but this would just be for convenience. Thanks again.

  • "The holiday home was fantastic, comfortable, light, clean and well prepared."

Getting through to Sykes Cottages on the phone on the few occasions we needed to was awful - waiting time far too long. Called to ask if there was an iron at the property and was asked a series of questions including name address where booked dates etc... simple query should have a simple answer - operator was far too officious. Please, you really don't need to confirm an identity to answer a simple question. The 6 rating is for Sykes Cottages experience not the holiday home.

  • "The only negative comment we had is the fact we were unable to use the hot tub on the first night due to it just being cleaned so the water was cold."

If we were forewarned about this we would have changed our plans in order to get maximum benefit of our stay.
