There's a nice children's play area on site. The cottage is well located for Beverley. There's no washing machine, farm animals or log burner as advertised on their website. The reception is open from 9am-5PM with no out of hours support. So when we had a leak from the bathroom into the kitchen there was nobody to contact. This meant we were unable to use the kitchen lights in the evening and had to clear up the mess ourselves. The leak was fixed the following day. The Wifi is very poor with an intermittent signal as there's no modem located in the cottage itself but nearby. When we asked about it, the broadband suppliers were given our number and called us to fix it when we had no access to the modem/router!

“The house was really nice and welcoming.”

Really loved the large open kitchen / dinIng / sitting area. Oven and fridge were a little small but we managed. Bedrooms were really large and had plenty of hanging and drawer space. Outside would have been lovely for nice warm evenings. Really loved the settings, again had it been summer we would have loved the walks close by. There was a few things that we think could improve the overall house: 1. Shower in each room, even just an over the bath shower would be sufficient. 2. Floorboard upstairs were so noisy when you walked on them, woke everyone up if someone got up! 3. One of the couches has to be replaced. The damage causes “bits” to come off and it’s just awful. The blanket used to cover up the damage to the couch looked nice but if you sat on it with dark colored clothes you got fluff all over your clothes! And the blanket slides off easily. You really should consider spending a few $$$ to get a new couch as comments like these will put people off booking the house which overall is a very nice house, in a very nice location.

“Stayed in The Grainery recently and, although there were positive aspects to the location and ‘cottage’, there were several that diminished our enjoyment.”

Having stayed at many holiday cottages, we had anticipated some form of ‘welcome pack’. Four cheap tea bags; four sachets of cheap coffee and four sachets of sugar don’t really constitute a welcome pack. No milk; small pack of biscuits. No breadboard; no salt; a door lock that was very stiff and, on one occasion took five minutes to open. Not a lot of fun in pouring rain. No outside light at night; a curtain covering the inner side of the main door which repeatedly unhung itself! Insufficient hooks basically. However... the two most significant issues were the upstairs floorboards which creaked and squeaked with even the slightest pressure. Impossible to walk on in the evening or overnight without disturbing others. Of the three of us who stayed for the week; only one of us found their bed to be comfortable. I even considered arranging pillows on the floor to try and get a decent sleep. One of the ‘leather’ sofas downstairs was covered with a blanket - perfect for those who want to end up sliding onto the floor. The reason it was covered, I think, is because it was in such poor condition with one arm being patched due to wear and the rest of the sofa had the outer surface peeling off leaving small black bits on clothes and floor. (See Picture) The layout and space of the accommodation is good and I could imagine a family having a good time there - once the issues are resolved. Plenty of space to walk a dog and let kids run around. There’s a small playground and a petting zoo for little ones. The site ‘shop’ is pretty sparsely stocked - you’ll need to head to Beverley for pretty much anything other than milk or Typhoo tea bags. Would I return? In all honesty, no.

“The Grainery is very spacious and easily accommodated 4 adults and 2 small children, with lots of room to run around inside and outside too.”

We had everything we needed to be comfortable, though it would have been nice to have proper shower facilities in the downstairs bedroom's bathroom. Be prepared for squeaky floorboards upstairs! The courtyard is pretty and well laid out for privacy and the playground was well maintained too. We enjoyed seeing the animals and being able to borrow boules to play with. The park was also very quiet and staff very helpful.
