We really enjoyed our stay, Avon Croft was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm on arrival. It had everything we needed, including a couple of dog bowls which were really appreciated as we had forgotten to pack ours! The kingsize bed was really comfortable, as was the living room furniture. The kitchen had everything you could wish for and more, and it was great to have access to Sky TV and other apps, as well as the firestick in the main bedroom for when the weather wasn't great. We did the cinder path walks to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay, two of my favourite places. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year. Thank you for allowing us and our two dogs to stay in this wonderful cottage. Katherine

  • "Lovely cottage, great location and very comfortable."

All the appliances you’ll need and a very nice owner. We had an issue with the door lock and it was fixed within 2 hours. The only disappointment was the cleanliness. All x3 Sofas were absolutely covered in white dog hairs and it took us 45 minutes with a vacuum cleaner to get them off. On removing the seat cushions we were horrified to see how dirty it was underneath. I don’t blame the owner for this but mainly the filthy people who were in the cottage before us (clearly a small dog was allowed to climb all over the furniture) with little respect for other people’s property. I appreciate this is a dog friendly cottage but we cleaned up any mess caused by our Labrador and he certainly isn’t allowed on furniture. The rest of the blame goes to the cleaning services provider, whose standards of cleanliness is very different to ours. Apart from that, it’s a beautiful place to stay and I’d definitely recommend it.

  • "Our Family had a brilliant stay at Avon Croft (6 Adults, 1 baby 6 month old and 2 dogs)."

The first thing that we noticed walking through the door is how clean and well decorated it was. It was well maintained and the rooms were well equipped and comfortable. We were a little worried when we booked that it was on a busy road and that would be noisy. I can say that wasn't a problem and you would hardly notice the road. I would only give one piece of advice and that is if you are bringing a baby and going to use the fold up cot supplied. It is very difficult to lock in the right position. We initially thought it was broken but no it's just very tight to lock in the usable position. Also if you have a small baby a crib blanket is not big enough to cover the larger cot mattress. These are just things worth knowing if you are bring a baby. Personally I can't fault either the cottage or the owners communication. We had a great Holiday so Thank you to all.

It is ideally placed for both Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. We walked to both places via the " Cinder Track" and was easy walking. It was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of both places back to the quiet village of Hawsker. There was 6 in our party and there was plenty of room to relax in the cottage. Malcolm and Judy

Location perfect for our walking and Hare & Hounds highly recommended for eating out. Little suggestions re maintenance, the radiator needs bleeding in largest bedroom, only gets lukewarm with heating on high. Couple of light bulbs need replacing. A lidded waste bin would be preferable in the kitchen, especially for guests with toddlers or dogs! The extractor fan in the kitchen does bang a lot with the wind. Otherwise, our stay was very pleasurable, communication with owner was friendly and helpful and we are re-booking for next year.

Fantastic location, Hare & Hounds pub in the village serves wonderful food. Easy to get to everywhere from the cottage whether it be on foot, car or bus. Ample parking for two cars. Everything you need in the house. Must apologise as we loaded the dishwasher but forgot to put it on before we left. I would recommend anyone to stay here, lovely and warm in the winter and lots of space. I would recommend getting the path cleaned as it is quite slippy in the damp weather but that was our only recommendation not complaint.

Thank you for such lovely feedback, we'll get the path cleaned straight away. We always welcome feedback so we can make sure everyone has a lovely stay. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our time here."

The cottage was immaculate and had everything available that you could possibly think of. I was glad that we took throws with us to cover the lovely furniture. Our dogs didn’t attempt to sit on the sofas but you can never be sure of what animals might try out of their own home! The garden was fantastic for the dogs first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Our bed was beautifully comfortable and we found that the bathroom shower was more powerful than the one in the en-suite. The village was quiet with lovely walks. We found a gem for eating. A short way up the hill in the village is a small, immaculate, quiet caravan park. There you will find the Coast Cafe bar. The owners used to run a restaurant and you can tell. The food is simply amazing - the best we had anywhere. With Whitby a spit away and such a friendly, accommodating owner of Avon Croft Cottage, this is surely a 10/10 stay for anyone.

The 3 miles into Robin Hoods Bay along the cinder track was easy to cycle with gentle gradients possible even for 5 year-old legs. If your children decide they don't fancy the walk back, there is a bus stopping 100 yds from the house going to Whitby one way and Robin Hoods Bay the other.
