  • "Great stay, fabulous house with everything you need."

Seconds from the beech which is a dream if you take dogs. Would suggest the welcome book is left out so that it can be seen. It would have helped us on the first day. That said there were no issues and the four days we stayed were like home from home. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you xx

  • "Lovely holiday home lots of space for adults and children and the dogs."

Our party consisted of 6 adults 4 children and 2 dogs who all had a fab weekend away. 2 living spaces meant that the children had their own space. Everything you could want in the cupboards down to baking. Beds are lovely and firm and the house is wonderfully situated. We will be booking again

Just perfect for our party of 8. Celebrating 2 x 15 year olds birthdays. Anything you could need had been supplied, the house was so clean and warm. Loads of books and board games to keep every age happy. Loads of room for the kids to play games in one room and the adults have some quiet time in another.Great location for the beach and town. Awsome.

  • "This house ticked all the boxes for us - 6 adults/4 children and 2 dogs!"

! Proximity to the beach was fantastic! The house was very spacious (bigger than we thought) with plenty of room downstairs for us all - all open plan too, (so no-one felt isolated when cooking in the kitchen) but with a separate quiet room for grandad. Bedrooms were roomy and the children especially liked the attic playroom/bedroom. We’d give this house 10/10 and would definitely book again!

Its in a really convenient area - close to town and the beach. And we were lucky enough to watch the Boxing Day sea swim! The photos really don’t do it justice though.

On the whole a great property with some items in need of a bit of TLC, a result of Covid reducing income perhaps. Easily accommodated 2 families with 5 adults, 2 small children and dog.

House a lot bigger than pictures showed, about 1 minute walk to the beach ,everything you needed for a great holiday, just a few bad points : no instructions on how to use appliances(always handy) tv in front room unable to watch as very poor signal and would'nt tune in(front room never used) back garden in a very overgrown state(bushes needed pruning and grass growing through astro turf, also bits of broken paving slabs and slates about(not suitable for small children) front and back doors took an age to open, keys seemed to get stuck, once these sorted, would be a perfect holiday

... but the window seals in the upstairs bedroom need replacing (as does the front door) so bad was the wind moaning through the upstairs windows that nobody could sleep in that room unless the window was open, which is not good when a gale is blowing!

There was plenty of room for everbody to spread out. 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 nice bathrooms plus an extra guest toilet downstairs. We liked the fact that there are two living rooms plus the playroom and 3 TVs. The kitchen is big and very well equipped and the dining table is big enough for 10 people. The views towards the sea are breathtaking and it takes exactly 45 seconds to walk to the beach. Absolutely fantastic! We will definitely come back!

Just a few room for improvement eg - the showers were not easy to control the temperature as was the central heating timer. The oven was excellent except for the grill within it - not easy to operate The washing machine - excellent as was the drying rack and ironing board and iron. Beds - very comfortable. TV in the front lounge - not always an easy watch - jumped while watching. Kitchen - very well appointed - with crockery, utensils etc.

Just awesome! We would have liked to rent it for another 3 nights but Sykes makes it impossible to do so ...Sykes only allowed to book a whole other week ! Where as the owner might be more then happy to rent the place out for an extra 3 days and NOT charge for a whole week! This happened before and I find it NOT accomodating enough from the side of Sykes Cottages!

On arrival the house was ready for us, with the pleasant surprise of a welcome pack in the fridge, including a bottle of wine. All the rooms were well appointed and a very good size, with plenty of room for our party of 8, 4 Adults and 4 Children. The two Bathrooms were very roomy with good facilities. Kitchen / Diner, again everything that was required. With two Sitting rooms, easy to have a child free zone , if required. A nice outside sitting area at the rear of the property, especially appreciated with all the good weather we had. All in all a property we would recommend and would return to .

  • "The house was lovely, warm and welcoming with bags of space."

It is very close to the sea and the shops of Bridlington but very quiet. Parking two larger cars on the drive takes some ingenuity but there was lots of parking in the road. Our party consisted of lovers of the outdoors and it is ideal for Bempton Cliffs, Flamborough Head and Filey. We were too early in the season for Burton Agnes or Sledmere Houses but Sowerby is lovely and a pleasant stroll away along the cliffs. We were lucky with the weather which always helps but overall we would all (6 adults) award this an excellent ten out of ten for our week away.
