"Such a lovely spacious cottage."
Well equipped, includes everything you could want from home - home comforts to everyday essentials, The patio garden is small but big enough and equipped (with tables and chairs)for comfortable eating or just sitting relaxing and is enclosed for those wanting to bring their furry friend. The cottage also has a large conservatory with plenty family board games and books. Included in this property are lots of information about places to visit. The cottage is also in a great location with plenty places for walks. Definitely recommend this cottage Absolutely fantastic the owner has gone out of her way to make it perfect.
Hi Diane. Thankyou so much for your kind review; it's very much appreciated. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay, and hope you had a safe journey home. Thanks again Jacky Property Owner
"We thought that this was a great little cottage, the property was ideal for exploring the area around Whitby and the North York Moors."
Great location. The conservatory was unusable because of the hot weather, but I can hardly complain about the weather.
"Really lovely cottage, we're lucky to have found it."
Thank you so much for your kind review. It's very much apprciated. I am so glad you liked it. Best regards Jacky Property Owner
"Really spacious, well equipped property in a quiet location off the main road through the village."
Perfect for walking from the door to the coast path and handy for Runswick Bay and Staithes. The property’s information file is very well put together. I would definitely book this again.
Hi Joan Thankyou so much for your kind feedback. It is very much appreciated. Best regards Jacky Property Owner
"Hard to fault."
Everything you could wish for in a holiday let. A great base to explore the moors, market towns, quaint villages and obviously the coast. One of the best-equipped kitchens we've had the pleasure of using - no need for the sharp kitchen knife (unused) I always take along as in my experience most places don't have one.
Hi Colin. Thank you so much for your kind feedback. It's very much appreciated. Best regards Jacky Property Owner
"Don't think the pictures actually show this cottage off as well as they could."
Very comfortable and great location very useful to be near campsite where there is a walk through to a lane for potty walks for dog. Close to beaches and facilities very much enjoyed our stay.
Hi Sara, thankyou for your review. I've recently had the cottage re photographed so it may show the cottage more accurately. It was however a dull day - which is a real shame. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
"Barn Cottage is a lovely home from home."
The only thing that it would benefit from is dark curtains at each bedroom window, as it is so light with the white blinds only. Hinderwell is my favourite holiday village.
Hi Angela Many thanks for your feed back. I will bare in mine your comments regarding curtains. Thanks again Jacky Property Owner
The attention to detail for example steak knives. There was nothing that wasn't catered for. So clean and cosy. We even had a welcome gift which was appreciated.
Hi Julia. Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I'm so pleased you liked our cottage, and hope you had a really great week! Property Owner
"We could not use conservatory door due to the lock not working."
We did report it to the owner and it appears to be an on going problem. We noticed that a valve cover was missing by front door which could be a problem if a child fell on it. The standard of bedding in main bedroom was poor and stained, we also mentioned this to owner. These faults above did not spoil our holiday we loved the place and location. I just feel it would help future occupants.
Thank you for your valued feedback. I am sure that you would agree that when we spoke I was horrified to hear about marks on the sheets. I did offer, to the point of insistance, that we change them straight away, however, I was told that there was absolutely no need to, and it wasnt a problem. We have NEVER had any reports of ANY marks on the sheets at any other time. The conservatory door is a problem in hot weather due to it being south facing. The internal doors do however secure the property, and the conservatory door does lock once the full heat of the day has reduced. We are tyring our very best to get this resolved ASAP. New bedding has arrived to replace any older sets. Property Owner
"Our fourth or fifth stay and booked for 2024."

"Just returned home from a lovely week at Barn Cottage, beautiful cottage set in a lovely quiet village, the cottage has everything you need and is a real home from home, The cottage is ideally situated for walks and various places along the coast to visit."
Being March when we visited the weather was changeable but this didn,t spoil our stay as it was nice to take breakfast in the conservatory while we decided on our days out, All in all a lovely relaxing break.
"Had a lovely time at the barn everything you needed was like home from home Very central for the beautiful villages and bays to visit."
Would definitely recommend and love ❤️ to stay again .
"An excellent property that we have had the pleasure of staying in before."
A great base to explore the North Yorkshire coast and moors.Highly recommended and a credit to the owner,Jacky.
"What a lovely cottage, spotless, warm and cosy."
The locals were very friendly and made us feel more than welcome 2 pubs very close had a couple of meals in the badger hounds food was outstanding. Visited most of the coastal areas Runswick bay ,Saltburn , Sandsend ,Robin hoods bay and of course whitby as well as places further inland my wife and I drove most places but saw that there was a regular bus service through the village. After our days out it was a delight to return to barn cottage to relax and unwind. All i can finish with is that Jackie is doing a fantastic job with the cottage and i will most definitely be returning as well as recommending barn cottage to family and friends . Thankyou Jackie for letting us use your lovely cottage.
"What a find!"
Stayed here a couple of weeks ago for a week of switch off and relaxing with my husband and dog, and Barn Cottage was perfect! Such a cosy home from home, perfect after cold dog walks to come back and get snug in front of a film. Kitchen very well equipped, and all communication from Jackie was lovely and very quick. Walking distance to 2 pubs, 15 min walk to the coastal path where you can do a loop back to Hinderwell. Would highly recommend Saltburn for a walk down the beach and chips on the sea (best fish & chips we’ve had in a long time). Whitby was only 10/15 mins to drive to, lots of lovely little shops and a harbour, very dog friendly. Have already told all our friends and family about it! Will absolutely be back in the future. Thank you for such a wonderful week.
"Once again, a warm and generous welcome to this fabulous cottage."
Well appointed, spotless, and ideal location. We have already booked our fourth stay.
"A very comfortable, well equipped cottage in a lovely part of the world."
"Excellent cottage, a real home from home, everything was catered for."
Nice touch with the essentials when we first arrived. Loads of towels, cleaning materials etc. Good position for exploring the coast and adjoining villages, perfect for dog walking. A couple of lovely pubs within walking distance and a cracking fish & chip shop . Would definitely return.
"Jackie's barn conversion cottage' is exceptional."
A home from home in every aspect. From outside the property you sense an overwhelming feeling of peacefulness. On entry your greeted with a sense of home comfort and luxury. The home as everything you could possibly need. I just had my Xmas and new year holiday here and I have never been more comfortable and happier with location and the overwhelming joy of a gorgeous home that suits everyone in your group. I took my best friend and my folks and we have had the best time here. No issues whatsoever because all your needs are met with this stunning home. The owner Jackie is just a phone call or text away and responsive immediately should you need her. Housekeeping is excellent! The whole home is snug and warm when heating is on you have no worries of ever feeling a chill. The beds are so comfy you drift off to sleep so quickly.. never do you hear anything that could disturb you here. Peace and quite is at its absolute best. the conservatory is massive!! My favourite part of the house where I can sit in peace with a cuppa tea enjoying a book or just peacefuness. The view of the hills from the conservatory are just mesmerising.. in the evenings in the garden your met with a lovely darkness .. just look up! The dark sky filled with all the stars you feel like your in space and surrounded by the stars!your met with a feeling so content at Jackie's home you want to leave! I've been home 2 days and I have already rebooked to return in March for another 2 weeks because of how stunning the home and location is.. it's captivating! Hinderwell is a sleepy quite peaceful village. And a stone throw to to your left is the gorgeous coastal village of staithes. A must visit for everyone. Especially the Cod and lobster the food is out of this world. Recommend you book a table as it can get busy due to the top rated location and the food. To your right of hinderwell is The pub The Brown Cow which is less than 100 metres to your right up the small beautiful lane the home is located at is the best pub I have found in the UK because the landlord Mark is just a wonderful gentleman who is so down to earth with his humerus charm and great atmosphere you'll enjoy the cask ales in this free house pub. Continue on and you'll come to Runswick bay another stunning location beach here is just incredible! And the views down to its beach and surrounding cliffs are breathtaking. The little village of hinderwell has a lovely little butchers where you can buy fresh meats aswell as other groceries.. but if you walk upto staithes you'll come across a co-op on the side of road. It has everything!! And a cash machine outfront. Ofc you can get a bus! To Whitby or anywhere tbh. You won't need your car to get around. The bus service is excellent! And the busses are frequent. I would highly recommend Jackie's home to everyone. It's in a perfect location with everything you could possibly need all around you. I'm so excited to be returning in March. Thank You immensely Jackie. I look forward to my return to your stunning home from home.
"We absolutely loved our stay in this warm, cosy and fantastically well equipped cottage."
Hinderwell is a wonderful charming village with first class facilities. The conservatory has fully opening windows which let the afternoon sunshine flood in. A perfect, peaceful haven for a good book and G&T. Dog friendly and the completely enclosed patio garden ensured our dog could roam freely and safely. Little or no noise / disruption from the caravan site which was immaculately kept and provided a lovely little walk right on the doorstep. We would 100% recommend Barn Cottage and can’t wait to return.
"The thoughtful and practical welcome pack, and the overall detailed attention to comfort, greatly added to the holiday spirit."
It was a delight to return to Barn Cottage at the end of each day spent in this fabulous area.
"Barn Cottage is a fantastic property, ideally located, very comfortable and very well equipped."
A home from home!
"All the family absolutely loved our weeks holiday at barn cottage."
Before arrival great communication with Jacky the owner and on arrival a super welcome pack, a real nice touch. It is a beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean, with all the facilities you could wish for and perfectly situated in a lovely village, handy for nice walks along the Cleveland way, in easy striking distance from staithes and runswick bay. We stayed at peak summer holiday season and did not encounter noise or disruption either from neighbours or from the campsite traffic. We all agreed that we would gladly live here and we will definitely be returning in the future.
"Nice, well presented cottage in a pretty village Close to lots of beautiful destinations such as Runswick bay and sandsend."
Having one bathroom between 5 people was a struggle at times , and we found the beds incredibly uncomfortable (the pillows definitely needed replacing). Also, due to the fact that the house is in the heart of a village and next to the entrance of a campsite, it was a little noisy at times ( dogs barking, car alarms, general noise of people walking up and down). It’s also worth noting that the cottage is a semi detached property with a young family living right next door, so if you are after peace and quiet this probably isn’t the place for you. We wouldn’t return to the same property again for the above reasons.
"A lovely house with stunning views."
Very handy for coastal path and walks across the Moors. A few days didn't even take the car out just walked to coastal path. Everything you needed and very comfortable and clean. Lovely welcoming pack. Will definitely return sometime.
"Lovely and unexpected but appreciated welcome pack."
Great place to stay, only down side was the creeky stairs
"This was our second visit to Barn Cottage and hopefully it won't be our last."
It's a lovely comfortable and very clean house in a handy location for the North Yorks Moors and the beautiful beaches of the area.
