“Hinderwell is a lovely village the butchers was very good.”

The one thing that let the old post office down was the pub next door,its smoking area overlooks the small patio at the back we were out every day so not a problem but would not of used it any way as there is no where to sit without being overlooked.

“2 phone calls re my worries after reading bad review of cottage, despite promises to contact me no one did, which I thought was very bad manners.”

Owner contacted me himself as he needed access to cottage and he assured me it would be clean. However all the cooking pans were damaged, to such an extent that we had to scrub them to make sure we were not eating the pan surface. the beds were old no mattress protectors on upstairs bed. The downstairs shower leaked from the hose. The televisions were unable to pick up any BBC programmes and the one in the lounge was so small that it was impossible to read the sub titles, which I always use being slightly deaf. Although the cottage was cleaner than I was expecting I found someone's sock under our bed, so I think the cleaning was superficial, not what I would have expected during a pandemic. I am disappointed both with the cottage and your failure to respond to my phone calls I doubt you will want To publish this as it reflects very badly on you customer service

The property

And later climb the stairs to the cosy sitting room, which offers a U-shaped seating arrangement, Smart TV and adjoining shower room.

These upper floors play host to three more bright and airy bedrooms, with the master boasting an en-suite.

Head up to the second floor, where you will find a hidden gem; a cosy games room for the kids to hide away for an hour or two, while you prepare the family meal or enjoy some quiet time downstairs.

Stroll to the pub for a drink after dinner or if you don't fancy cooking for the evening there is a traditional fish and chip shop close by.

A pleasant 10-minute walk will take you along a lane to the golden beach at Runswick Bay, a family favorite for rock pooling.

You also have the chocolate-box village of Staithes a few miles away, with its higgledy-piggledy houses and winding streets.

Venture out to Whitby for the day, stroll along its historic harbour, take a look in the museum and a variety of shops, and even climb the famous 199 steps to its commanding abbey.

During the late summer and autumn season, enjoy a cruise on a boat from the seafront to see whales, dolphins and seals out on choppy seas.

You also have Robin Hood's Bay, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and The Cleveland Way walking trail.

The Old Post Office is a delightful retreat which you will be longing to return to.
