  • "Cobble Cottage was absolutely lovely."

Clean, cosy, very well presented. Heating was on when we arrived, very grateful for that as it was so cold. Little garden was visited by many birds and 3 squirrels, a joy to watch. Cottage is in a great position for all of Hornseas amenities.

  • "A charming cottage beautifully presented in a gorgeous position just at the edge of the park."

The Cottage just like it's photographs and was immaculate on arrival. It has everything you need for a very warm welcoming stay. The attention to detail with all the comforts of home meant it instantly felt comfortable. A very well stocked kitchen with good quality crockery and utensils for cooking a great meal. Comfy couches, bed and a good space to enjoy being in. We were left a Christmas welcoming gift of choices, biscuits and Prosecco which was a lovely touch by the owners. The centre only a short walk away so easily accessible for bars restaurants, shops and the beach front just 10 mins away. Perfect location and we had a lovely stay. Cobble Cottage is a credit to the owners . We would definately stay here again and we're given a very warm and cozy welcome. It had been beautifully decorated for Christmas for us on arrival . Just perfect . If there is anything I'd change at all, it would be that it had a bath to soak in after a long walk but that's just my personal preference. It's not possible really due to its size upstairs but would be great . We wouldn't hesitate in booking again . It's a cozy, welcoming and beautiful Cottage . HORNSEA is one of our favourite places to stay, very friendly and welcoming to us and our dog . We loved our time there , thank you so much.

The owners left information about the local area, such as walks, places to eat out and the local attractions and walks. The beach, town centre and lots of places to eat out were within walking distance. We had a great time and would definitely go again.

Comfortable beds and furniture. Good park next door for exercising dog. Cottage garden is more of a yard but nice to sit out in to enjoy the sun. I noticed some bird feeders so I bought some seed and filled them, j was rewarded with daily visits from blue tits, robins, wrens, sparrows and finches, so if you like bird watching just fill the feeders.

Being blessed with glorious sunshine we enjoyed breakfast in the sunny courtyard garden. Shops, eateries and takeaways were very close to the cottage, an easy walk across the lovely park behind the cottage provided a pleasant, quiet route to amenities and the beach. Although the cottage is on a road, it is not the main road, we were aware of vehicles, but this did not disturb us. A lovely place to stay with friendly locals and helpful owners.

Very well equipped for a weeks holiday and we enjoyed our stay. Only negative comment was that the 'less than one-third of a toilet roll' provided seemed a bit mean ! Manoeuvring at the bottom of the drive and parking was a little tight for a larger car.

Thankyou for taking the time to leave a review for our Cottage. We agree it is in in an excellent location, the park next door and the seafront and the Mere a 10 minute walk away. We are sorry for your recent struggle with the turnaround. We have a campervan and do use the turnaround area and feel that it is better to have off road parking than parking on the road. Apologies re the toilet rolls our cleaner lady is usually brilliant and must have done an oversight on this occasion. Thanks again for your comments. Best wishes Anita & John Ball owners. The garden/courtyard was great & totally enclosed so safe for dogs. It was also such a sun trap for a morning coffee even in February! Perfect location for holidaying with dogs, with the park 5 minutes stroll if that, the beach and Mere about 10 minutes stroll. North beach is always OK for dogs - usual restrictions May to October on the southern bit. The town itself is lovely with some very old buildings & locals very friendly & helpful. A huge park was directly behind us for dog walking and the beach is just 10 mins walk away. The cottage itself is really nice and clean. On our arrival Anita informed us that the shower screen in the bath was broken and she asked if the plumber could pop in to try and fix, but unfortunately a new screen was required and could not be fixed during our visit. Wasn't a problem, as these things can't be helped and she was very apologetic and did her upmost to sort it out. Facilities were great and the Playstation 3, DVDs, Netflix and board games kept the kids occupied! The little outside area was perfect for our little doggies even though it rained most of our stay. The only small issue we had (and it was small) was that the downstairs, apart from the kitchen, was all carpeted. So everyday we went for walks we had to carry our two little dogs up to the bathroom to wash off from the rain to make sure the carpets stayed clean, as you can imagine how filthy they were! Normally we would have left them outside to dry but it was hammering down with rain most of the time. The kitchen was too small really to house them after a walk as we were in and out of it a lot of the time and it would have got a filthy floor. But we managed ok and had a really nice, relaxing stay even though the weather dampened it slightly - but you can't book the weather!

The bathroom was cramped and awkward to use for taller people, and we had a terrible week's sleep due to the extremely unforgiving mattress on the double bed. We got caught in a downpour on the first day and found we had no facilities to dry clothes, apart from a heated towel rail on the landing which wasn't adequate to dry 5 lots of sodden clothing. A clothes airer or washer/drier is need. Backing out of the drive is quite precarious, as the drive is on a bend. Whilst we were instructed to not park in front of the garages, the neighbours unfortunately did, making turning around impossible. I think this cottage, and Hornsea in general, is most suited to smaller families with young children.

On entering the property the through lounge looked lovely, but unfortunately the smell of wet dog was definitely apparent, we have a pet of our own and love animals.but had to go and purchase several cleaning products to make the smell more pleasant. We love Hornsea and are regular visitors.and the location of Cobble Cottage is excellent but it's very awkward for parking and you have to be particularly careful when pulling out as it's located on a bend. We were very lucky with the weather and for most families it would be an ideal place to stay, but not for us on this occasion.

We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with your recent stay at Cobble Cottage. We were unaware of any problems and we would have done our best to rectify these had we have known. The previous 8 guests gave 100% feedback and following your week another guest rated us 100%. As for your issues regarding small bedroom sizes: Cobble is a 200 year old cottage and our photographs reflect this. On the issue of parking, we are aware that some guests may have slight difficulties on exiting the driveway; so we installed a mirror to view the road fully. It is a slight bend on a 20 MPH with speed bumps. The cottage parking space is limited but we have had guests who travel in large vehicles and successfully parked in the space provided. There is also the option of parking nearby on the road. Property Owner

An even shorter walk was required to the town centre with the basics and some nice places to eat (we'd particularly recommend The Cliff Road Cafe for a quality fresh breakfast and Harper's Fish and Chip restaurant). We were able to easily explore the East coast from Scarborough to Cleethorpes, walking along 6 beaches in as many days. There have been a few cottages I've reviewed and said "we'll be back", but this is the one I really hope we can visit again.

  • "A lovely cottage in an ideal location."

We had a wonderful break and didn’t want to come home. There is a park next door, the beach at one end of the road and the town with lots of shops, pubs eateries etc at the other end of the road. Everything you need. We hope to return.

  • "Our cottage was immaculate very co."

Fortable warm and clean. A very nice welcome pack was left for us. As we have dogs it was the only cottage we've ever stayed where it was kept to a very high standard. Normally we find places that accept dogs are a little tired and lacking in homely touches. This cottage was outstanding. Thank you Jeff

Behind the cottage is Hall garth Park which our dogs loved while walking through to the beach or shops would definately go back again.

  • "This was our second stay in Cobble Cottage so obviously we really like it."

It has everything you need for a comfortable week away and is spotlessly clean. The owners have thought of everything and more. Our dogs had a wonderful week and Garth Hall park is right next door which they loved. Hornsea is a small coastal town with lots of local shops and pubs. A large Tesco is only a short drive away. For shopaholics Beverley is the place to visit having a large shopping mall and picturesque old town. Thank you Anita and John and thank you Sykes for the fantastic cottages we have previously stayed in.

  • "This really is a little hidden gem."

The location is fantastic, with beaches nearby, a beautiful country park at the back of the cottage and lake within walking distance. This really is an exceptional cottage, the owners had thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible, everything was lovingly put together, so much so, that you just didn’t want to leave. It was spotlessly clean, with only the best from the beautiful towels and bedding to all the board games that were provided. We can’t wait to return.
