  • "Lovely cottage in a great location for the mere and the coast."

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped with a sunny garden overlooking the mere in the distance. The next-door neighbours are really friendly too. The only minor quibble would be that there could do with being more logs supplied for short breaks in Winter/Spring as it gets chilly in the evenings but all in all a great cottage to stay in.

  • "The cottage is beautifully and tastefully restored with a mix of original features and modern amenities."

The view of the mere from the peaceful garden and from the single bedroom is stunning, and the location of the cottage very convenient for town, shop (Large Tesco 2 mins away) and beach a 10 minute walk along the Transpennine Way. Parking easy despite busy road at front of the property. The owners couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, as were the neighbours. The lounge could be a bit lighter with lighter paintwork and curtains and the seating isn’t as new or comfortable as we would have ideally liked. But kitchen facilities and bedroom comfort was excellent. The nearby Mere is a gem and the stretch of coast further North (including Flamborough and Bempton Cliffs is stunning. Overall an excellent short break.

  • "A spotlessly clean, warm, cosy cottage in an ideal location."

The bedding and towels had a lovely fresh clean smell. The porch entrance was an added bonus as having a dog we were able to wipe her feet before she entered the kitchen. The kitchen was fully equipped, touchscreen oven controls, (luckily the instruction booklet was available). Fully enclosed garden with a view of the Mere, even sat outside and had lunch one day, not bad for February. A couple of suggestions for the lounge - the lighting could be brighter, maybe a couple of cushions for the sofa also a small rug all these are personal preferences. The master bed was so comfortable, the bathroom/shower was fine. Plus very friendly helpful neighbours. All in all a very well presented property and we would happily stay here again.

  • "We stayed in Fisher Cottage whilst visiting family in 2019, we enjoyed it so much once we decided we’d spend new year visiting our family in Hornsea we knew exactly where we would be staying!"

! The cottage is warm and cosy with the most comfortable bed ever!! The neighbours are lovely and so helpful if you need anything. We were extremely lucky with the weather and got lots of fab walks in, including some of the Trans Pennine trail way, a cliff top walk to Skipsea ( with a chip butty from Sullivans chippy on our return) and a walk around the Mere, the cottage was always a pleasure to come back to and lovely with the log burner going of an evening whilst relaxing with a glass or 2 of wine. We will most definitely return.

  • "Fisher Cottage is obviously the pride and joy of the owners it was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and good quality bedding with an enclosed back garden."

It would make an ideal base for someone in the summer months however we stayed over the Xmas week with our two small dogs. The weather wasn't too good so we spent a fair amount of time indoors because of this we found the lounge area to be somewhat dark and lacking in space this coupled with Sykes doggie restrictions and the fact with no dryer or downstairs radiators there was nowhere to dry coats or dog towels when wet.So sorry but it wasn't our cup of tea.so went home after two days.We would like to say thanks for the cake and milk and we are sure other people will find it fine.

Out back you would not know you were so close to a main road Lovely wildlife in a fabulous setting. My parents came for the day and booked the property for themselves. Very well equipped , cosy cottage feel but to be honest we spent most of our time on the patio. Will definitely go again and highly recommend. Thank you for nice cake, milk and fresh flowers.

We wouldn’t rebook as Hornsea was just a bit further location wise than where we normally go. We also struggled with the road noise early in the morning but that is just because we are not used to it.

We were looking for a base to explore the East coast of Yorkshire. The cottage was very nice shown by the number of repeat bookings in the comments book. The lovely garden was a just a joy to sit in and read or listen to the birds you would not have known you were on a main road. Parking right outside the door was a bonus. • "We had a wonderful time at Fisher Cottage with our dog, Treacle."

The cottage is cosy and warm, extremely well equipped and beautifully clean. It felt like home as soon as we arrived, with lots of nice touches like the flowers, cake and milk. As we had travelled to Hornsea for a family funeral, it was nice to have somewhere that felt so welcoming, particularly the log burning stove which we all enjoyed. For us, the fact that you have a side entrance to the property which leads around to the back door and utility area was great for drying our dog and ourselves. The enclosed secure back garden with spectacular views of the Mere were ideal and the sunsets and wildlife were breathtaking. We had no problems parking at the front of the property and as other reviews have said, the neighbours are so friendly and a pleasure to chat to. We found a wealth of interesting walks from our front door, including the Trans-Pennine Way which starts in Hornsea and goes all the way to Liverpool, you can pick up the route less than 500 yards from the cottage. The large supermarket, just around the corner, is also very useful. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Fisher Cottage and would definitely book to come again - it is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

Nice little touches like Lemon cake, milk and flowers on arrival and a Christmas tree too. Plenty of equipment to be able to cook in and plenty of choices to eat out. The Mere cafe a nice walk away too, will definitely try this cottage again in the summer, as was very impressed with our first visit to Hornsea.

The bed was like lying on a big fluffy cloud. The log burner was so cosy to curl in front each evening and the kitchen was well equipped and laid out, in fact we wanted for nothing during our week there. The owners are lovely and so welcoming and we arrived to fresh flowers, milk, tea bags and THE BEST home made lemon drizzle cake ever !! The location was spot on for what we wanted, the locals were very friendly and the neighbours were extremely welcoming and informative for any days out or trips that we planned. We will definitely return in fact we were worried about putting feedback on as we don't want everyone to book this cottage so that we can't get in :) Fantastic value for money and the interior design and planning of layout etc the owners could show quite a few other holiday cottage owners a thing or two. Thanks for one of the best breaks we've ever had in this country.

We loved the log burner, the huge luxury bed which was so comfortable, constant hot water, underfloor heating, panoramic view of The Mere from the back of the cottage ... We could go on and on. The position was ideal, 10 minutes walk to the dog friendly beach, even a Tesco in walking distance. If I were to be really picky, a hearth rug would have been nice to make the charming living room cosy as the quarry tiles, although entirely in keeping, were a bit utility, but as I say that's being really picky! Thank you to Paul for delivering the logs and to both of you for giving us the privilege of staying in your lovely holiday cottage (sorry about breaking the mug on the quarry tiles!)

Also Fisher cottage is on a busy road so traffic woke us from 6 am each morning that wasn't mentioned either.
