“The peaceful and friendly setting of the cottage was perfect.”

Owner on hand if needed but not intrusive. A lovely, helpful range of welcome gestures.........a rose in each bedroom, milk in the fridge and cake under the cover in the kitchen, blankets and rugs everywhere ! Warm and cosy during very cold autumn weather. ...

Owner on hand if needed but not intrusive. A lovely, helpful range of welcome gestures.........a rose in each bedroom, milk in the fridge and cake under the cover in the kitchen, blankets and rugs everywhere ! Warm and cosy during very cold autumn weather. It's an excellent base for coast, country and town destinations. We walked along Sutton Bank with its panoramic views, visited several spectacular abbeys nearby and drove to the coast at Sandsend for bracing strolls. Helmsley is a few miles up the road with castle, parkland and a myriad of tea shops ! Nunnington Hall is a delightful National Trust property reached within a few minutes of the property which caters for all ages and interests. On the way back to Sheffield, we called into York to round off a holiday of brilliant variety. The village itself has a interesting church with a Saxon Tower and plenty of walks from the property, especially suitable for dogs. There are two excellent places to eat and a delicious bakery ! Hovingham has a quiet and friendly feel to it. We would definitely return in a different season to see the countryside in another aspect but the autumn colours were spectacular !
