“At 92 years of age I have a wealth of experience of holiday cottages and I find it impossible to find fault with Waterside Cottage.”

    ...

Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, spotlessly clean with good parking facilities. Welcome pack of bread, cakes and milk, Altogether a superb little property, The village of Hovingham is truly picturesque. All buildings of mellow, Yorkshire stone with a little stream running through the village. Bakery, local stores, tea rooms and hotels , all within very easy walking distance. A drive of less than 10 miles approx brings you to lovely market towns, eg Pickering, Malton, Helmsley( all with shops, cafes, market stalls, etc.) All well worth a quiet browse. A little farther afield is York and the coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington and Filey. Waterside cottage is an excellent property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The property

A delightful stone-built, semi-detached cottage, nestling close to the beck in the picturesque village of Hovingham.

The cottage has real charm and character, and has been lovingly renovated to provide a very comfortable, cosy retreat.

There is an wood burner in the living room and sloping ceilings in the bedrooms, while outside is a small, enclosed south-facing garden, ideal for relaxing.

Hovingham itself has amenities including an excellent hotel and a village shop.

Surrounded by the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is an ideal location from which to explore the surrounding area.

Excellent walking and cycling opportunities are close by, whilst Nunnington Hall and the stately home and gardens of Castle Howard are just 4 miles away.

The pretty market towns of Malton and Helmsley are both only 8 miles away and well worth visiting.
