  • "This is an extremely lovely property."

The layout excellent, enjoying the lounge, dining and kitchen. We enjoyed our stay, excellent holiday and convenient for all the nearby seaside towns. Would recommend the cottage. A few points: there should be a washing up bowl in the kitchen sink. The bedding on the second double bed was very poor and should be better. The tap in the main bathroom needs attention. Having a tv in all bedrooms was very nice and all very easy to you with all the main services. Just a very nice holiday cottage.

Well presented and met all the family needs.

  • "The property is well equipped and overall is very good only a couple of complaints."

The dish washer could not be used as we could not get the tablet compartment to lock, the lower shelf in the fridge door is broken and the outside rear light did not work.. Cleanliness could be improved throughout the shower in the front bedroom even had black scum all along the bottom of the door. Having said that we had a wonderful time and the cottage is very welcoming and homely and has everything you need.

All essentials and more made our short stay even more enjoyable. Thank you for a great staycation.

  • "Excellent location."

Clean and tidy with all facilities and equipment required. Plenty of space for 4 adults. 2 children and a dog. Fantastic pizza restaurant / bar / takeaway on site that allows dogs in too. Great beach access and walks for the dog. Listing said it was an enclosed garden - it was not which was disappointing as this is a specific area I look for when booking a property. No allocated parking either and found it hard to find a space close to property on a busy bank holiday weekend.

  • "Initially query about cot and high chair was quickly resolved by a telephone call."

Ane enclosed garden area would have been useful to let our pooch out early morning or late at night.

  • "Having left 10 inches of snow to get to the holiday cottage, we were somewhat surprised that the cottage was very cold with no heating on and dust all over the kitchen and glass shards on the floor, right into the hallway."

After speaking to the owner they had had building work done, and there was some break down in communication to get everything cleaned up. They also kindly talked us through the procedure of getting the boiler working. They called the housekeeper, who went above and beyond to come out and clean up all the dust, glass and mess made from the building work. After all that, three generations of our family enjoyed our stay. A big thank you to the owners and their Housekeeper for promptly dealing with out concerns.

  • "It was certainly clean = they were still cleaning it at 4:15pm when we should have had access at 4:00pm."

Apart from that niggle the place was really ace and in a good position for the shop. pub, flower meadows and a good walk to the beach. It was nice to have a small welcome pack to make tea or coffee on arrival, a welcome return after CoViD-19, I hope.

  • "Had a great time (weather helped) from start to finish."

Booking easy, travel to site clearly sign posted, very clean (everywhere around the site and the property). Beach great and dog friendly. Loads of walks round site, from the beach and close to the site. No stress, no fuss. Property great, Skyes were really helpful and so was the property owner who helped greatly also.

  • "Lovely holiday property, had everything we needed and more."

Loved the garden box with things to use for the beach brilliant idea! My only complaint is that it said enclosed garden on the listing which is partly why I booked it as we took our dog and it wasn't enclosed at all, but it didn't ruin the holiday. Thanks for a lovely stay we would definitely return.

  • "Overall the holiday let was very good."

The only criticism is the bed in the 2nd bedroom is far too low. It’s only about 6 inch off the floor. If they’re were older people using it they wouldn’t be able to get in and out of the bed. Also the mattresses on all the beds were cheap and quite uncomfortable. This is false economy as a lot of people spend most of the day out of the house but want a good nights sleep when they get back.

  • "A couple of light bulbs were not working."

The outside light which was not working when we arrived and a shower bulb which may have gone when we were there. No toilet paper in the en suite and the toothbrush mugs had not been washed. The low bed was OK but may not have been suitable for all. Otherwise a good premises with good facilities and we had an enjoyable holiday. Good service from Sykes. Only a 9 because there are other holiday cottage companies out there.

THE BAY - FILEY

Filey 3 miles; Scarborough 10 miles; Bridlington 8 miles.

Located on one of the most naturally beautiful stretches of the Yorkshire Coast, the Bay Filey is fronted by six miles of golden, sandy beach and is an exclusive development of traditional styled holiday cottages, off the A165 Filey to Bridlington road. Filey is a popular choice and is reminiscent of childhood holidays – an elegant and tranquil seaside town boasting a beautiful, award-winning beach, charming shops and plenty of activities for all the family. Filey Beach, with miles of golden, sandy beach nearby – recently voted the UK’s Best Beach in 2018 – there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted. Or try your hand at water sports such as sailing or surfing or just settle down in a deck chair with a good book and enjoy the sunshine. The Coble Landing is lined with boats and kiosks selling coffee, tea, seaside snacks and even those ever-popular bacon sandwiches, The Coble Landing is a must to enjoy the views before a walk along the spacious promenade, dotted with coastal themed sculptures. Discover the Fily Brigg, where you can walk to the tip of this narrow rock peninsular during low tide and maybe see a seal, sunbathing on the rocks. The cliff top above The Brigg forms part of the Country Park, which is popular with picnickers, birdwatchers and hang-gliders and is the start of The Wolds Way. Filey Museum is a past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696, and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive. Dalby Forest is an excellent choice for cyclists, where they can enjoy a challenge at Dalby Forest, or perhaps follow some of the Tour De Yorkshire route and tackle the famous Cote De Harwood Dale or just pedal village to village along the idyllic country roads of the nearby Wolds and admire the views made famous by leading artist David Hockney. Bird lovers will love the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the 250,000 guillemots, gannets and puffins who flock there to raise their young between April and August. It is a haven for birds and animals, including an important colony of great-crested newts and has an interesting Visitor Centre. Scarborough is 20 minutes north of Filey where theatre goers can enjoy the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn plays plus Scarborough Open Air Theatre attracts many world-class artists – recent concerts have included Britney Spears, The Beach Boys, Little Mix and Tom Jones!
