  • "This is our second visit to Seadrift, under the current ownership."

It was clean and well maintained the first time we visited but if anything it was even better the second time. Refurbishment of the bathroom has been very well done and the decor has been kept to a high standard. The Bay, Filey also has good amenities, which is welcome when the weather is not very good, as is the smart tv, sky, netfix and alexa at the property. Look forward to returning.

The house was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had everything that you could possibly want. The lounge felt light and airy and was just right for a quiet night in, with a lovely big telly and all the streaming services you need. We had a great stay and would gladly recommend it.

  • "Lovely cottage on a great site."

Well furnished, clean and everything we needed. The owners were very helpful when we had some issues and responded quickly. I used the postcode to find the property and faced some confusion but the owner has put clear instructions on the site. We were a bit chilly in the evenings but otherwise it was perfect. First time to Filey and we were very impressed.

Many thanks for your nice feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. For future guests I will give them directions to the cottage ahead of their stay and also taken onboard your comments about the temperature. Thankyou for letting us know about these points and we look forward to you returning in the future Property Owner

  • "This was our second visit."

The house was up to standard and introduced a Sky tv and alexa! We again couldn't leave the key in the key fob and had to post the key through the letterbox.(Thickos!) This holiday was a bit of a last minute as my husband had had an operation on his back. The owner says they are replacing the bath with a shower (constantly improving)! so we'll definitely be back!

Thankyou for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. Hoping that you will return again soon Regards Kay Property Owner

The cottage was miss sold it was not habitable. I contacted the owner and also spoke to Sykes to no avail. Sykes refuse compensation and have shuffled me from pillar to post. This is now being put into the hands of people who deal with miss selling and see how Sykes deal with them. Regards Ray

Thank you very much for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you thought the cottage was unhabitable . We found these comments very surprising as we always ensure our property is cleaned before all of our guests check in. An offer to sort reported issues was offered for our cleaner to come back that evening/or for myself to come over the next morning, but that was not accepted by yourselves and you subsequently decided to check out that evening. Reported issues at the cottage have been dealt with . Currently, Sykes have your claim under review and we are awaiting responses from them . Please note that we have been pro-active ourselves with Sykes and followed up with the necessary calls /emails with Sykes Customer Care Agents relating to this matter. Hoping that a fair and satisfactory conclusion for your claim can be agreed soon. Thankyou, Kay Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our week long stay at Seadrift."

The prior contact from the owners a few days before was very useful. The cottage was very clean and tidy, we were comfortable there as a family of 4. Having the smart TV already logged in to a few of the apps was appreciated by us and the children. We would definitely stay again if going to Filey. The bay itself has a lovely pool, which is clean and tidy.

  • "The accommodation was excellent."

It was just very comfortable and a lovely place to return to after a day out. Namely, our own little house, without worrying about a hotel room. Although we did not use the facilities available on site, it was good to know that they were there. A very nice house, and the whole estate is a lovely relaxing setting which is very nicely done. A perfect location to stay, whether you went out each day or not.

  • "Lovely cottage and location."

Freshly painted. Well equiped kitchen, which is great because we love to cook. Very comfortable beds. Wonderful big towels. Clean and comfortable. Good facilities. We would definitely recommend. Also we love the fact you can walk along the long beach to Filey and not have to get in the car. One small thing, that we noticed, that is common in different cottages, is we have to wash some of the kitchen crockery or pans etc, because the previous people haven't washed them very well, or the drainer. Maybe cleaners could check on this?

Thank you for your feedback for Seadrift, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our cottage. We have addressed the issues with the kitchen and we will ensure the pots and pan have been cleaned during the changeover. We hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

It had everything we needed, well decorated, lovely and clean and the beds were really comfy. Also it's not often you find a decent TV in a holiday home, but the TV there is a really nice fire TV which is useful on rainy days when you have kids. The property

This lovely, end-terrace cottage is situated on The Bay, a prestigious holiday village, 3 miles from the traditional seaside town of Filey.

A glorious Blue Flag sandy beach is just a short, enjoyable walk away, providing 5 miles of golden sands to play on, build sandcastles on and to paddle in the sea.

Seadrift is a welcoming home-away-from-home, perfect for couples and families wishing to enjoy the Yorkshire coast and extensive on-site facilities.

The comfortable interior has a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen, a downstairs toilet, and a light and airy lounge/dining room.

Cosy evenings can be spent snuggling up on the sumptuous leather sofa by the bay windows.

The TV and DVD player stand on a cabinet containing local information and equipment instructions.

French doors by the dining area can be opened up to the rear patio, which is an ideal spot to relax with a coffee and watch the world go by.

Upstairs are two peaceful bedrooms, promising a good night’s sleep.

The attractive double bedroom has fitted wardrobes, whereas the second bedroom has double and one single bed.

There is a family bathroom with walk in shower.

Stepping outside the cottage you are greeted by the quaint ‘fishing village’ style houses, set in communal gardens, with meadowland and a lake nearby.

Seadrift is in a quiet location, but benefits from the convenience of being close to the amenities offered by The Bay, such as a pub and pharmacy.

Also close at hand are the heated indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room, sauna and gym (which are free to use for guests at Seadrift using the leisure pass provided.) Other facilities are available at The Bay, for an extra charge, paid locally, including beauty rooms, fitness classes, tennis, archery, scuba diving lessons, fishing and bike hire.

If you can tear yourself away from The Bay holiday village, it is a lovely walk along the beach (tides permitting), to Filey, with its old world charm, where there are quirky shops, places to eat, the promenade, and terraces to sit with views of the sea and the bright flowers in the ornamental gardens.

To the North lies Filey Brigg- why not try a bit of rock pooling here?

Further afield is the busier town of Scarborough where you can embrace more family fun such as the Alpamare Waterpark.

To the south, Bempton RSPB nature reserve is marvellous for bird lovers, with nesting seabirds, including Puffins, on the chalk cliffs.

Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks, and boat trips, leading round to the resort of Bridlington.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
