  • "Where to start!"

We had such a fantastic stay in Filey, staying at the Starfish Shack at The Bay. Everything was as expected from the pictures and description. The apartment is beautiful, so well decorated, has everything you need, and has a real home from home feel. The beds (sofa bed and kingsize bed) were comfy and enough for the 4 of us. Plenty of bedding, pillows and clean towels. We stayed with two children aged 11 and 7. The hob and cooker were both great, and there was everything in the kitchen to be able to cook as you would at home. It's worth noting that the TV is not a smart TV as listed (just incase anyone was expecting Netflix etc), but this was not a problem at all. Their were lots of DVDs to watch, and the TV's both had all the usual freeview channels. The shower was good, and the shack also provided a hairdryer which was great! We made use of the washer/dryer, and dishwasher which were all really easy and handy. The wifi was great and reliable. The shower was fab. Everything was just spot on; it really was faultless! Check in/out was super simple. We did speak to our host whilst here, and she was lovely! A lovely 3 mile walk to Filey Briggs from The Bay, an hour to Whitby, short drive to Scarborough, Flamborough (lots of seals there at the moment), Bridlington. We didn't use the pub on site, but did use the shop and found it quite expensive. We used the tennis court once which was easy to book, aswell as swimming too.

  • "Excellent apartment, everything you could need."

Ideal location, short walk to the beach where you can walk to Filey, short drive to Bridlington and Scarborough. There is also the use of the leisure facilities with swimming pool, gym etc - ideal if it's raining. Couldn't ask for anything more.

The apartment was very well-equipped and comfortable, and was a peaceful and quiet place to stay. The location was perfect, too. Would happily stay there again.

  • "This was a lovely little flat with all we needed."

I would recommend and return. The only one thing was the boiler which kicked in throughout the day and night so it was noisy in the early hours but everything else was perfect

  • "He starfish shack is situated on the Bay development at Filey."

The site is lovely and clean and in easy reach of facilities and lovely coastal walks. There is a shop, restaurant and pub on site, also a swimming pool, gym, beauty treatments, children's area. If you book one of the holiday apartments you can use these facilities and the owner usually leaves a pass for these facilities unfortunately there was no pass avaliable. We arrived on Saturday and all was well. On Monday about 7.30am we wher woken up bu talking and banging and as I looked out the window workmen where setting up scaffolding at the gable end of the property. This scaffolding covered our bedroom window and lounge window. They then started banging and drilling with an electric drill removing all the rendering. We couldn't open our curtains as there was 2 men constantly working there. We went out for the day and when we got back the noise was horrendous. This continued until 6.30pm that day and the same occurred Tue, Wed and Thursday. Are car was covered in cement dust as the company carrying out the work never sheeted up properly. We made a decision to leave on Thursday as a holiday is suppose to be relaxing and this was hell.

  • "Apartment was lovely."

Nice decor and very clean. Bed in bedroom was very comfortable but the sofa bed not so. Also no sheet or duvet cover available for sofa bed. I left a message with the number listed as a contact but received no response. Also no pass for leisure facilities but luckily our family were staying in another cottage which did provide a pass, so we managed to access the facilities using this. Other amenities such as dishwasher and washing machine in apartment were very welcome. Didn’t use either TV so can’t comment on these.

  • "This was our 2nd visit and we were not disappointed."

Warm, comfortable, well equipped with a really comfortable bed and pillows. We stayed over New Year and were very lucky with warm weather which meant we could go in the sea every day and the highlight was New Year’s Eve on the beach. Would thoroughly recommend this as a base especially if you enjoy walking on the beautiful beach.

  • "There was only one thing that I was a bit disappointed by was there were no recycling facilities at the site."

In the refuse areas there was a glass bin and then general bins but nowhere to put recycling. I was very surprised as it is important to so many people these days.
