  • "We had a wonderful Christmas break, and we were all happy with the facilities suiting Grandma, Daughter/Mum and Granddaughter of 2 yrs."

The little things were provided, the communication before arrival date was superb, nothing was too much trouble. Walking into a 'home' environment brought a smile to our faces. The parking was spacious, the accommodation was as stated, the kitchen was well equipped - even down to the salt & pepper, tea & coffee supplies and not forgetting the washing up liquid! Ample books & games for entertainment along with WiFi and TV's. All the small touches were very much appreciated. Loved the information folder, it had everything we required. We will be revisiting in 2022 when we find a suitable date. Thank You :)

  • "This is the 4th time we have been to The Bay but the first time we have stayed in Bay Dream."

The cottage was lovely with everything we needed and the open space at the back was great for early morning and late evening walks with the dog. There is a lot of development work going on at the Bay at the moment especially around the ljke with the new lodges and I hope thay are not going to over develop it, at the weekend it already seemed more crowded than it has previously with queues to get a table at bot the pub abd the cafe. Some of this may be due to Covid restrictions but some maybe just that there are getting to be too many people for the facilities. We were also a little dispaointed in menu and food at the pub the menu was more limited than i thas been previously again not sur eif this is due to Covid or the change in ownership, but also a lot of things on the limited menu were not available. However we did not let it spoil the holiday and ate out more in surrounding pubs abnd restauarants. Overall an excellent break

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at BayDream. The Bay has been busier this year due to the staycation effect & feedback from previous guests are that they love staying at The Bay as a base for exploring the area. The JPJ has paired down its menu as they are concentrating on using more local produce and suppliers which has greatly improved the quality of the food served. Hopefully you will find it easier to get a table if you decide to visit The Bay in the future. Property Owner

  • "Absolutely lovely area, fabulous beach, would definitely return."

The Bay Dream was a lovely house, could of done with a better clean, as there was dust and bits all over the floor. Our other downside was that we had no internet for the whole of our stay, but put this down to openreach for not coming out to fix the problem. Great communication with the owner Amanda, who tried her best to get this sorted. Wouldnt put us off returning though. :)

The dust & bits all over the floor were as a result of a Sky engineer going into the property to carry out work to try to remedy the WiFi not working. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, sky's policy is that nobody is allowed in the room whilst they are in attendance. Therefore it was carried out between our previous guest and next check in but the cleaning of the property had already taken place beforehand. We're sorry that these bits had been missed as a result and thank you for your feedback. We hope that this didn't detract too much from your stay Property Owner

The house was very clean when we arrived and we felt safe there in these troubled times. The house is well decorated and feels spacious and comfortable. The house has everything you need ,very well equipped both with everyday needs but books and games as well. The bay is a clean well maintained well planned site although we did not use the leisure faculties they were there and used by others. The walk to the beach goes thru the park and leads to either a cliff walk or down to the beach both very pleasent. Beach is long flat and a great walk especially if you have a pet Filey is easily teachers a lovely place. All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely go back.

  • "Disappointed that the Meadows area is being developed and coupled with the increase in the beach cabins at and around the archery/ tennis court facilities The Bay is being spoilt."

Have been going there for the last 5 years and feel it is becoming just another large scale development along the coast. More properties are coming on stream yet the facilities and amenities are not keeping pace. Baydream itself was ,as usual, well appointed and clean ,and we felt reassured by the measures taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

  • "This was a return visit to Baydream having been there last year."

Everything about Baydream was excellent as expected. However the fencing off of the Meadows area was disappointing and limited our walking of the dogs . The adjacent grassed area to Baydream had also been given over to resiting of the football pitch and other activities and was much noisier. Why these activities had not been moved to the other side of the entry road to the campus where there would have been less disturbance to holidaymakers beggars belief.

  • "It was really lovely that the property was dog friendly as well as the on site pub."

However it was really upsetting that some dog owners didn't clean up after their pets and one house nearby just opened the door and let their dog out to do his stuff!! I find it such a shame because most dog owners are responsible. The swimming pool was a great bonus and due to the time of year was great because it was so quiet. The pub was also very quiet and just lacked a bit of atmosphere because of this. We ate there several times and the food was good and well presented.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. Gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and minke whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
