  • "Lovely cottage in a great location, fully equipped with everything we needed."

The only critism would be that the cleanliness could have been better. Dirty plates in the cupboard and dirt and dust in some places. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely return.

  • "We arrived early at 2."

30 and it wasn't cleaned so no probs we popped to the beach. Got back 3.30 still hadn't been cleaned. Rang the owner left a voicemail rang the cleaner oh it's not one of mine it's my brother's but I'll get someone there. No apologies. 4.00 they arrived. No apologies again so we left them to it and went to the pub for a drink and to calm down. I have stayed at this property before and it's in an ideal location I just wanted someone to be sorry. It said on the wall there should be a welcome pack well there was no milk no biscuits and 3 tea bags.

We love to visit The Bay and have been going for years. We are quite picky with our accommodation as we have high standards so it’s nice when you find somewhere suitable. When we had a slight issue the owner dealt with it promptly and politely.

  • "Needs attention: front door is difficult to open."

Twin beds are super uncomfortable. Mattress bedding doesn’t fit well. Dish washer needs attention (it doesn’t clean plates). Glasses in cupboard not clean. Freezer compartment needs defrosting. Windows very droughty. Stairs carpet needs a jolly good clean. TV scene really dirty. Signs of water damage in bathroom. Skimpy with toilet rolls. Eating pub is silly expensive. Good service but the food is not great. The good: great heating. Reasonable shower pressure. Comfortable down stairs (living room and dining area) swimming and beauty facilities great. Our week was not terrible. We enjoyed the location. The accommodation was “okay” but felt it was let down by silly things that could easily be fixed.

  • "A lovely place for a holiday and cleaned to a very high standard."

Unfortunately the wooden dining table and chairs out the back of the property had been replaced by a kind of high bar table and chairs and as we had kids that meant we couldn't eat as a family outside. The bathroom could do with a lick of paint and new flooring. But the facilities at The Bay were spot on for our 4 year old.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful holiday home - the best we have stayed in. There was everything we needed - and a very friendly owner phoned us before we went to update us on how to access the accomodation and to see if we had any queries, a lovely touch. Lovely site and area and within easy reach of holiday attractions. We shall definitely be back. Thank you.

Comfortable clean and ideal for dog owners with a dog friendly beach just 5 minutes walk from the property. Owner contacted me prior to arrival just to ensure I had the correct directions and details for my arrival. On arrival it was good to see that the owners had left a carton of milk and some essentials to ensure we did not have to go searching for tea coffee etc. Pub on site is a little pricey for take away food but nothing unexpected on a complex. Supermarkets are in easy reach if you wish to cook for yourself, Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington are in easy driving distance however parking can be a problem. York and Leeds are within 1 hours drive if you wish to travel further afield. Overall a great location to relax in a clean comfortable home away from home. when possible we will return.

So it was a little noisy outside (bedtime hours) and parking was a lottery. There’s no designated parking for that property. The house had mostly everything you could have wanted. Including a washing machine which is very handy! Beaches were beautiful and very close. Animal park in Bridlington was fantastic! Definitely worth a visit to see there birds of prey display! Overall it was a brilliant time to get away after the awful year everyone has had.

    G. Washer and dishwasher tablets, every piece of cutlery and dishes you could ever need, plastic food bags, toy box, books and games. Pleasant and quiet location, centrally located for all the facilities and a pleasant stroll to the beach. A bit hilly coming back up. This is dog friendly, which appeals to most people. We had to roll up the furry rug as it did smell of doggie, but I knew that was a possibility before booking and put up with it. The site was efficiently run and there was always somebody cleaning, tending the gardens or washing windows. The restaurant was extremely busy causing waits of over an hour for food. Pool good for swimming and a small, warm pool for the young children. It would have been nice to see some recycling options for waste. None of these minor negatives would deter me from returning, it is a wonderful, safe and relaxing location in quality homes.

About the location

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and Minke Whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, with donkey rides available on the beach, children’s play areas, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
