“The cottage was not very clean, hovered toe nail clippings off lounge floor.”
The door for the freezer compartment of the fridge was broken, and full of ice so restricted room to store frozen food. The shower head needs replacing.
“Excellent cottage with great local facilities.”
Would recommend this cottage to everybody
“This was a lovely comfortable cottage in a great location, The owner of the property was very helpful and the cottage was well maintained and kitted out with everything we needed for a holiday break.”
This area makes a good base for visiting Filey and other resorts and attractions in the area. Scarborough Bridlington and Flamborough are all only a few miles away and for bird lovers Bempton RSPB is easily accessible. The owner of the cottage had provided lots of information leaflets of places to visit and games, puzzles, books and DVDs for when the weather is bad but we were so lucky when we stayed at the cottage as the sun shone most days and there was only a light shower one afternoon. Our little westie, Dexter, enjoyed his time at the Bay and we all want to come back again soon. It was nice to have an owner who took care of his property and his guests.

Difficult to adjust heating times as pre set and cold weather meant it would have been nice to have it on at other times Otherwise was very nice accommodation
“The lovely dog friendly beach just a few minutes walk away also the on site facilities.”
“A beautiful cottage in a lovely location a real home away from home.”
A well equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare and cook our own meals, with a hungry family a real bonus. The on site restaurants were lovely, and were similarly priced to those found off site.
“The cottage is brilliant and well thought out, Tassimo coffee machine was a hit and super fast fibre , we enjoyed staying in the cottage but cant say the same about the bay, it wasn't good for my kids every activity is for over 8yrs and there isn't many of them either.”
The play area is tired and washed out climbing frame and swimming pool not up to much, we used the cottage more as a base so was lovely holiday. As a couple or family with older kids ideal
“Very enjoyable stay with our 3 grandchildren with comfotablle accomadation plus activities to suit all will come again”
“Lovely cottage well situated on the site.”
Ample parking which is good. Close to all amenities. Overall Very Good.
“Sykes did a good job but its the holiday home that made it great.”
We could clearly see that the owners put a lot of effort into running this business and we enjoyed our stay.
“A great place to relax and enjoy the area”
The property is equipped with all that was needed, lovely and warm during a very cold spell a fab place to come back to.Stunning beach within easy reach and excellent facilities on the site. Look forward to another visit
We've had an amazing few days at this cottage. Clean, comfortable, relaxing. The owners have thought of everything - coffee machine, dvds, books, games, lovely toiletries. Feels like a luxurious home from home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone, and WILL be returning.

About the location
Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.
Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. A real gem on the Yorkshire coast. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. gannets, kittiwakes, puffins, guillimots and razorbills all nest there. Gannets are regularly seen diving for fish in Filey Bay. The Brigg area is an ideal place to watch for common and rarer waders, seabirds and migrating warblers, finches and thrushes. As well as seabirds, seals and other marine life, such as porpoises dolphins and Minke Whales can be seen in the sea around the Brigg. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, with donkey rides available on the beach, children’s play areas, crazy golf and candy floss. Also in Filey there is the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where common and rare waders and wildfowl can be seen as well as autumn gatherings of swallows, sand martins and house martins. Also there is Parish Wood (just off Sycamore Avenue) an unexpected gem that offers a wealth of wildlife. Willow warbler, chiffchaff, blackcap and tree sparrows breed there and a wide variety of other species are regularly seen such as great spotted woodpeckers and sparrow hawks. Parish Wood also provides shelter and food for a wide range of migrant bird species such as goldcrests, pied and spotted flycatchers, warblers, finches, thrushes and woodcocks. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
