"Lovely converted barnhouse, lots of character with exposed beams etc."
Just a few things I'd like to bring up that spoiled the wow factor for us; fridge was filthy and too small for the size of the property, big open crack on bath panel upstairs, you need a degree to work the coffee machine, awful smell coming from the mat at the door in downstairs bedroom, lots of flies and cobwebs even on low beams that are easy to reach, floors hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, chest of drawers in kids bedroom falling apart, wifi not great whereas if one person is using their phone the TV won't work. All in all a nice place, good hot tub, nice garden space for kids/dogs. Just a shame these little problems hadn't been up to scratch to merit the nearly £3000 we spent on our 1 week holiday!

"Lovely place the only downfall was we had our dog with us and the garden was 90% fenced off but unfortunately we couldn’t let our dog out off the lead because of this."
The pictures make it look enclosed which was a shame. Unfortunately our dog can’t be let off the lead as she can be spooked easily and with the cliff nearby. It would of been lovely had that but been fenced off.

"We had a wonderful stay at The Byre."
The place was very clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable and bed linen very good quality ( to the point I’ve just bought the same pillows as they were perfect) The seaview from the hot tub was spectacular and the location of the property was ideal.
The only very small negative is the fridge is on the small size when 6 people are staying for a long weekend. But we managed.
Would definitely return again.

"Excellent property in an idyllic location."
The Byre was decorated to a high standard and spotlessly clean ... we had some initial issues with the hot tub on our arrival and unable to use it the first 2 nights but was sorted by the 3rd night. Some outdoor heating might be an idea in winter as this area was a great social space. A lovely walk into Sandsend took around an hour or a short drive onto Whitby. Logs were provided for the lovely log burner in the living room which made a great focal point.
Would definitely recommend this beautiful barn, sleeps 6 comfortably, large kitchen area and beautiful comfy sofa for warm cosy nights.
Thank you for the feed back and hope to see you back soon Property Owner

"Absolutely lovely converted barn, the views are amazing."
We took our dog with us who going through difficulty with recall so the fact the garden was not enclosed did cause us a issue. The area is beautiful but difficult to get onto dog walks without being on the road. The barn is of a high spec but the heating is set way too high and we struggled to turn it down as the thermostats seemed locked, consequently the boiler comes on during the night which is noisy. Kids loved the hot tub and it was great to have Netflix. All in all a nice break away.

"The Byre is a lovely property and is bigger than the photos suggest."
It is a very peaceful location with no sounds from anything other than the animal neighbours. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a fridge to the utility area, the current one is not quiet big enough if your catering for 6 for a week. But overall a lovely property only 10-15 mins from the lovely Whitby.

"After delaying our family visit in March to celebrate my 50th, we finally made it in October with a smaller party due to lockdown measures."
It was worth the wait.
The accommodation is simply beautiful, incredibly clean under the current Covid circumstances, and the views and scenery simply stunning. To further enhance the experience for all I would make just one recommendation to have a grab rail in the shower as the shower tray gets extremely slippy when wet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. Thank you

It's close to Whitby and a great jumping off spot for the North Yorkshire moors. The Byre itself is beautifully set out with every comfort. Sally, the owner, was very responsive and helpful. Highly recommended - we've already booked next year.

"We had a fantastic week at The Byre."
The location and the cottage itself just couldn't be faulted. the only things that would make it better for me anyway would be to have a selection of pillows ( as the ones provided were just too high for me) and the duvet was too high tog as the cottage is so well insulated. I also think of they installed a larger fridge freezer it would make it easier if you're taking your own food like we did. We managed ok as i had taken a cooler box and cooler bag but would have struggled without them. All in all a fantastic stay though and I would definitely consider booking again.

"The barn was absolutely fantastic, very clean and tidy with good facilities."
The hot tub was fabulous and made even better by the fact you have to build the fire and maintain it, found it quite easy to light and keep a good temperature and made it more enjoyable. Having a really log fire was another plus to barn and it put out some heat. The views from lounge and front patio was off countryside and then out on to the sea, the use of telescope was amazing. The owners where very helpful and when asked about something they would come straight back with an answer or required items, such as wood for hot tub. We enjoyed our holiday and would recommend and return to the barn.

"We arrived and couldn’t get into the key safe so had to ring the owner."
Then the TV couldn’t access the normal 4 channels BBC etc. The cottage itself was amazing with no expense spared on the interior decor. I think a meet and greet just to explain how some of the appliances worked - handle-less pans was just one example
The hot tub even though we had a fire going for 2 days remained less than tepid and to be honest the water needed changing.
Lovely welcome pack and cottage but needs attention to finer detail

Perfect for what we needed. Great facilities.
Only downside for us was cleanliness! - a few of the towels had stains on, the hot tub was quite dirty and the plates had dried food all over. But dont let this put you off.. a fab place in a beautiful setting, just a little improvement needed on house keeping!

"We had a brilliant 3 nights at the Byre and were impressed by the quality of the accommodation & facilities."
The location is hard to locate when arriving at the property for the 1st time as the turn off whilst it has a sign is off the road so missed by 2 of our 3 drivers which meant driving around country lane to find.
The hot tub whilst a lovely addition is hard to maintain if you are out and about during the day so needs to be stocked up with wood to keep warm and then would be later in the evening that you can use.
The lay out worked really well for us with our 2 adult children who one had twin bedded room and the other the upstairs double room and then we were downstairs in double room, the underfloor heating was great and could be boosted as you wished.
The fittings in the house were great and lots of care and attention has been made to make sure they are great standards, loved it.
We took a trip into Whitby for the day on the Saturday and had a good walk around and spent time on the beach, ate at the famous Magpie fish & chip shop and then walked from Sandsend to Whitby and back on the Sunday finishing off with a great meal at the White House Inn which allows dogs.
Lovely part of the world and highly recommend the Byre for people to stay.
