The property

An individually-designed, stone-built, Grade II listed former school house situated on the main street of the popular village of Hutton-le-Hole, in the heart of the North York Moors.

This delightful property is an ideal retreat for an action-packed family holiday.

Complete with the original distinctive bell tower, this first floor apartment overlooks the village green and offers beautiful views of the moors beyond.

Creatively renovated, this quaint old school house craftily combines character features with modern amenities.

All on one floor, there is a spacious open plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area which has exposed beams and multiple views of the classic 'Heartbeat' village and countryside beyond.

There are also three comfortable bedrooms, one double bedroom, one single and one single with a pull-out stacker bed, which offers flexible sleeping accommodation, together with a family shower room.

To the rear of this attractive apartment is a quiet, private, gravelled courtyard where you can relax and plan your day whilst enjoying your morning coffee.

The village has an excellent inn and the apartment lies above a country café, whilst a general store is within a five minute walk.

Sheep are free to graze wherever the fancy takes them.

The ever-popular and attractive market towns of Pickering and Kirkbymoorside are a short drive away, whilst Helmsley with its historic castle ruins overlooking the market square, lies nine miles to the west.

Be sure to take a trip to nearby Rievaulx Abbey which can be accessed by car, or a picturesque, easy walk along the valley from Helmsley.

The Ryedale Folk Museum is also well worth a visit.

Take a trip on the famous North York Moors steam railway from Pickering and, once alighting in Grosmont, explore the engine sheds and pretty station which still retains its original gantry and charm.

The popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Filey, with their impressive, sweeping sands, are also within easy driving distance.

A delightful apartment from which to explore this lovely part of the country.

About the location

HUTTON-LE-HOLE

Kirkbymoorside 3.5 miles; Pickering 8 miles.

Situated in the heart of the North York Moors National Park and handily placed for touring both Moors and Coast, the idyllic little village of Hutton-le-Hole is widely accepted as the prettiest in the area. Charming stone built cottages cluster around undulating village greens, with a stream (Hutton Beck) passing through. It's the perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by - but don't be surprised to find sheep grazing next to you! The village is home to the Ryedale Folk Museum, a 'hands on' museum of local life and tradition, which includes a reconstructed Elizabethan Manor House, farm buildings and craft shops. The village also has a complex of craft shops, workshops, tea rooms and gift shops. Nearby the attractive old market town of Kirkbymoorside lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in between the towns of Helmsley and Pickering. It's a charming place with a slightly 'old fashioned feel' and visitors will find plenty to keep them occupied in the many shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. There is even an 18 hole course for golf enthusiasts and Pickering is the base of the North York Moors Steam Railway - a 'must do' day out for all visitors to the area. Both the City of York and the Yorkshire Coast are within easy driving distance.
