  • "Great little cottage."

Very well kitted out kitchen. Ideal for sorting you own food in. Would definitely look to stay again next time we’re in the area.

  • "A lovely holiday home with a welcoming goodie tray."

We have been to Yorkshire for over twenty years and stayed in many holiday cottages and this is one of the best. The photos don't do it justice and for me and my husband it was great to come away and have a good night's sleep! Thank you.

  • "What a fabulous family stay in a charming and characterful cottage!"

A lovely welcome gift on arrival, scrupulously clean cottage, which was well equipped, with everything we needed, and very helpful owners with any questions about the local area and amenities. A great location from which to explore the Moors and North Yorkshire coastline. The perfect combination for our family half term holiday. We loved our stay!

All the properties that we have stayed in have been first class, together with the local villagers superb friendliness we could not have enjoyed our holiday more. Even the weather was on our side........See you next year.

Very clean and close to the shops and pubs in kirkbymoorside. Own parking was great and a lovely walk from the doorstep. The only thing that would have made it even more perfect for us was a Smart TV.

  • "We had a great week and found the cottage comfortable, well equipped and clean."

We didn't find the bed very comfortable but maybe personal taste as other reviewers said they did. The little patio area and communal garden were an added benefit especially as we had good weather. Loved the location as close to all the amenities of the town but quiet. Neighbours and locals were very friendly. We hope to return!

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful week in this cottage as a family of four."

The property is kept in good condition, very clean and with helpful information in the property binder. The nature photographs dotted about the property were a lovely touch, the owner has some talent with a camera! There is a lovely little communal garden out the front and we sat out on the patio to have a fish supper one evening. The neighbours were very friendly and it's so well situated just a short walk from all the shops, cafes and restuarants on the market place. Kirkbymoorside makes a great base to explore this part of North Yorkshire we found that we had plenty to occupy us during our stay and wish we could have stayed for longer.

  • "Perfect cottage, so quiet and peaceful despite having the main high street just round the corner."

Cleanliness was excellent which is one of the biggest things for us. Kitchen well stocked with equipment. Lovely welcome hamper much appreciated. Great having the off road parking, garage and private patio area. It was wonderful to look out at the communal garden and the birds on the feeding table whilst listening to the church bells ringing out in the distance. Neighbours were all very friendly and respectful of distancing due to us shielding. The High Street had an amazing array of shops and places to eat - great to have so much choice on the doorstep. Great location for exploring this area of the country. We would love to return and hopefully next time make use of all the high street has to offer!

  • "The accommodation was first class, with everything we needed."

The patio was a real bonus as it was a very warm few days and it was lovely to be able to sit out in a secluded garden. We met the neighbours and some local people and they were all very friendly. It was good to have off road parking as the Main Street could get busy. I would fully recommend this accommodation, and intend to return myself with friends and family.

  • "We enjoyed our stay , however it seemed the oven did not work."

We only discovered this after buying and preparing an evening meal. ingredients wasted and had to go out for a late evening meal. We had to eat out more times than we had budgeted for ! May have been more economic to stay in a hotel

Thank you for your feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. The owner has advised that she checks the oven during every changeover and noted that the fan and light came on so assumed it was working. Had you let her know there was a problem during your stay, she would have addressed this immediately. Upon finding your note on departure, she ordered a new oven which was fitted the same day after she realised the heating element had gone on the bottom oven (the top oven was still working). ! I may be getting on in years but I am not that stupid, I am absolutely certain I had booked for 2019 as otherwise I would have had to move the indicator on the website on a year as well as setting the correct month. I telephoned immediately but was charged £30 initially for amending the booking. I did eventually have this refunded but I wonder if frankly this is not an isolated occurrence and other people have just accepted the situation - very unsatisfactory, if we do visit The Old Potting shed again, rest assured we would use another booking agent!!!

  • "A wonderful cottage in the perfect location for exploring the moors and vale of Pickering."

The hosts had anticipated everything you would need for a holiday home from home. The beds were amazing! We all slept so well after long days walking the countryside using the information books and maps we found in the cottage. We had brought our own, but needn’t have bothered and managed to clock up 20 to 30,000 steps/day, hardly meeting a soul....but we did meet lots of lovely lambs and ewes. Kirkbymoorside has wonderful shops, so you do not need to load up with food beforehand. Try the butcher, the baker, we didn’t find the candlestick maker but there are local craft shops, and very well stocked Coop and Spar, plus other independent retailers. All within a few minutes walk from the cottage. Lastly parking, as all historic towns, having somewhere to park is invaluable! We loved it :)
