.. We must thank Lisa, the owner, who went above and beyond to help us, I can't recall any of the previous holiday properties we have stayed in when we have been contacted by the actual owner...and certainly not in an intrusive way, but just to say by text that we could have use of the cottage before the actual check in time, and to help us over another matter that wasn't property related... Certainly if we choose to stay in that area again, Maplebeck would be my first choice... Our dog settled very well there aswell...

Lots of wildlife. The cottage had outdoor seating, and a balcony to make the most of the views. It was utterly relaxing! The cottage was comfortable, well equipped, and was perfect for us. The bonus was the viaduct, a lovely place to walk the dog, and timing it right we got to see the steam train going under the viaduct. We had a fantastic stay.

This was our 5th visit to the area and it was the best property we've stayed in. The cottage itself was thoughtfully equipped with all visitors would require, from umbrellas, torches and dog bowls to a good stock of kitchen and tableware, towels and comfortable outdoor furnishings. The surroundings were peaceful with lovely views of the river. The owner Lisa, obviously values and cares for her visitors' comfort and enjoyment. Many thanks, Lisa for a wonderful stay.

The welcome basket was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Comfortable cottage in a lovely quiet location. We was sad to leave. Loved the decor .Watching the wildlife coming and going was wonderful, we saw seals, kingfishers, rabbits and bats in the evening. The very friendly ducks visited often , we counted 34 at one point. Great to see the steam trains running across the other side of the river. Walk into Whitby along the cinder track took us about 25 - 30 minutes. We will definitely return. It’s a short walk into Whitby across the viaduct or you can follow the track to Robin Hood’s Bay or further to Ravenscar or even Scarborough. We enjoyed our stay so much, we are going to return next year. • "The third time we have stayed here but the cleanliness is now an issue."

Black mould on tiles in shower, between the shower tray and the glass isn’t clean again mould and lime scale. The bottom of the door frame in the bathroom needs repairing and painting. Radio didn’t work even though tested label said it worked in June. All of the skirting boards need a good wipe and the glass on both sets of french doors need a clean (definitely ruined the lovely views). Even though we were happy with the price we paid this year I certainly would not be happy with the £400 increase for the same week next year. A shame for the poor up keep and the price changing dramatically, therefore will not be returning for the forth year.

Sorry for this feedback and I am very surprised. Brought this property last June and spent a considerable amount of money due to how bad it was before. The price increase is due to more refurb being done. I hope you enjoyed the 3 bottles of wine left and the welcome basket. Hope you find somewhere a lot better. Regards Lisa Property Owner
