  • "Beckside Lodge was clean and comfortable."

We really enjoyed our stay there. The Welcome pack exceeded our expectations, Bread, butter, milk, eggs, tomatoes, Prosecco and Beer, even some lovely Brownies to have with a cuppa. Nothing was too much trouble for our Hosts, Gary and Jennifer, they both made us feel at home, but didn't intrude on our privacy. We were lucky to sit out on the veranda a few times, although it was October. Convenient for the village pub, and plenty of places to visit, without travelling too far. Eden Camp, Yorkshire Arboretum, Scampston Hall and Gardens, York also Scarborough, and Bridlington within easy reach.

The cabin itself is very welcoming, very clean and cosy, Gary's knowledge of surrounding areas helped us to find a lovely restaurant, at the The Stone Trough Inn Gary even rang and reserved us a table, the food was lovely there. At the local pub The Jolly Farmer, literally a two minute walk! the staff were very friendly along with the locals, and the food was amazing ... We loved our stay and visited lots of places, The cabin is fully equipped for what you need, there was a book on local walks defiantly worth trying.. we will definitely be returning, Thank you Gary for making us feel very welcomed in your tranquil village.

  • "We had a fantastic week at this cottage, everything was very clean and comfortable."

Gary was a great host, he was very helpful with things to do and places to go and the amount of goodies he leaves for you when you arrive is second to none. The location is a great base to explore the surrounding area and the coast and there’s a great pub just up the road as well. If you get chance go to Figaro’s Italian in Pickering it’s fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.

The lodge was the perfect place with everything available for my needs. It was near to a variety of venues and I made the most of visiting as much as I could. Set in a lovely village on the edge of the spectacular Wolds I was met on arrival by the owner Gary who was most helpful in showing everything I needed to know. He provided a welcome pack of delicious food and drink which was a superb bonus to my stay. Excellent.

The lodge is spotlessly clean and comfortable and it's so peaceful. In a very quiet place but easy enough to get to Malton, but if you arrived with no shopping, the welcome pack in the lodge is one of the best ever we have had .We will certainly be back , hopefully when the weather is better to use the verandah. A great touch is the fact there is everything you need, extra towels, blankets if it’s a bit chilly why you sit outside, fruit, fresh bread, butter, milk, wine and beer and toiletries. All lovely little touches to get you started. It’s a great base to explore the coast or inland and the Moors.

  • "From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a fantastic weekend."

The lodge is an absolute hidden gem, set in some of the most stunning scenery around, set in a beautiful little village. The village has a fantastic welcoming pub, with some hearty food to feast on. Each of the neighbouring villages also has its own pub, all within easy reach, making sure that you have plenty of choice in the area. The host, Gary was just brilliant. He could not do enough for us and met us with the warmest of welcomes. The food parcel there on arrival was an added bonus and contained some lovely fresh produce which we enjoyed greatly. The lodge has everything you need, so if you want an easy night in with something cooked there, it has all you need to achieve this. This is despite the smaller kitchen as seen in the photos, it really doesn't do it justice just how well equipped you are here. Everything else is incredibly comfortable and homely, from the bed to the sofa; to the chairs on the decking outside, where you can sit and chill with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down. Thank you to Gary for your help and being such a fabulous host; we'll definitely be back again.
