  • "I'm so pleased that I chose to stay at Leeming methodist church."

The conversation is really high end and no expense spared. Everything has been well thought through and beautifully presented. I had a lovely stay. A lovely treat to myself.

  • "To stay in this accommodation you have to appreciate the attention to detail and the quality of the refurbishment."

It is an excellent building and we enjoyed reading about the history and they have managed to keep the heart of the original building with lots of beautiful features. As it outlined in the listing is not so suitable for small children or old age pension due to the stairs , but outside of that one of the best places we have stayed in over the past 20 years.

Wow! Superb! Thank you so much for incredible feedback, to say the church is one of the best places you’ve stayed in over the past 20 years is a truly rich compliment – Thank you! We are so glad you appreciated the history of the church and loved all the original features. We are so grateful for your kind words! It’s really appreciated – Thank you for your stay! • "The first thing I would like to say is, this is an amazing place and so quirky."

We enjoyed our stay here and there are lots of lovely places to visit. However, there are a few quirks which people should be aware of. The outside of the property is not secure / enclosed. So, if your dog is in the yard, they could easily escape onto the road if they so desired because of very low walls at the side of the property. The two identical bedrooms upstairs are lovely and comfortable but the beds are very low (only about 12 inches off the ground). If you have mobility problems or have a bad back, for example, you are going to struggle to get in and out of the bed. The head of the bed is also against the sloping roof of the church which doesn't leave a lot of room above your head when lying flat. There are no proper cupboards or drawers in the bedrooms for clothes so you have to hang them off hangers affixed to the beams. The two copper baths in the upstairs bedrooms are beautiful but they are so deep, and mounted on a step. Yet again, you may well struggle to get out of the bath. You would be better off using the downstairs bedroom bathroom which has a lovely walk-in shower. The stairs, which are made out of the original pews, are beautifully made. The door to the secret downstairs bedroom is so heavy that my wife had to leave it open all the time as she couldn't manage to push/pull it closed. The bedroom downstairs is very dark and the bed is difficult to get in and out of, as once you turn the light off at night, the room is pitch black and the light switch is out of reach once in/on the bed. The fixtures and fittings are top quality and having an altar in the living room is a great focal point. The kitchen is huge with a lovely central island and is very well equipped for a home from home stay. The patio area at the back of the property is nice and private and not overlooked however the patio set comprises a small table and only 3 chairs so is not suitable for accommodating 6 guests. Prior to your arrival the owner will send an information pack about the property which includes a lot of rules to follow. With the list of rules and the fact that your are in a church/home you do feel like you are in a museum and not a home. This is only my opinion and appreciate everyone is different. It is beautiful and different but because of the things I have listed above, I would not return

Thank you so much for describing the church as amazing - That's really appreciated. We recognise a few of your comments are related to mobility, the conversation is designed as a statement property in all aspects - So it's probably not the best choice for someone with mobility requirements. In relation to the information pack, all guests receive this due to the property being a recognised historic home and being a little more complex than other properties - And as our role as custodians to the building, we are keen to ensure the building is protected for future generations. • "We loved the property and definitely would recommend."

But the low down beds upstairs were a downside for us and mattresses a bit too soft. As a Couple in our mid forties we value a comfy bed so much more than when we were younger and we did both wake with back ache. The spacious kitchen was very well equipped except for an iron and ironing board. Which we couldn’t find. The hot water was scary, but our children were old enough to understand so this was fine. There are some lovely village pubs and eating places nearby and people in the village including the neighbours are really friendly, Our 9 year old daughter loved the secret cupboard bedroom and her special en-suite bathroom which was her little chill out space. Only final comment would be for there to be more seating outside and perhaps a couple of comfy lounging chairs or additional seating. As it would have been nice to maybe have a drink or eat outside. Especially if you are wanting to listen to or see the RAF planes flying overhead. Many thanks

Thank you for your feedback and saying you would definitely recommend the property - That's really appreciated. In relation to the mattresses, interestingly they are mattresses designed as hotel grade for maximum comfort - But we recognise they could be a little different to what you might have at home. We are delighted you were able to explore the local area, pubs and nearby villages - The surrounding area is beautiful! Our two favourite local attractions are the UNESCO-listed Fountains Abbey and the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle - Then of course, the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors! Thank you for your stay! • "It was a privilege to stay at this historic and sympathetically restored property."

We felt like we were custodians as well as guests at the chapel, and we appreciated the trust placed in visitors shown by the high quality of fittings and furnishings provided. While the location might not seem special when viewed on a map, in fact it is fantastic for getting around a wide area easily. We went to the coast at Saltburn, the local towns of Northallerton and Thirsk, to York and Leeds further south and Barnard Castle heading north. We also loved being in the space itself and felt no need to go out if we wanted a quieter time. We were there in the summer but it would also make a special winter retreat. The only heads-up is that the water is very hot, to which the owners draw clear attention at the property. This was not a problem for us but parents of young children need to be attentive. Cannot recommend this fabulous place highly enough.

Amazing! Thank you so much for this incredible feedback! We are truly delighted you loved your stay and you felt privileged to stay at the church. We are so glad you were able to explore the beautiful surrounding areas too! Thank you again, greatly appreciated. Property Owner

  • "What a beautiful place to escape on holiday."

We had a lovely break. The converted church is simply stunning, immaculately clean with wonderful high end furnishings. The two baths got plenty of use with a great supply of hot water at any time of day. We feel really lucky to have come across this haven just as it became available to rent. Will definitely be returning, though we imagine it will become very popular, so suggest anyone wanting to stay gets it booked up soon!

Thank you so much for the incredible feedback. We are delighted you had such an amazing time and you loved the church so much! Thank you again! Property Owner
