  • "We loved it, the hot tub was our personal favourite thing, as well as the bed; it was so comfy!"

My partner is over 6ft so he had to get used to the sloping ceilings but once he got used to it we were fine lol. Absolutely spotless inside and out, we loved the apple juice left by the owners, so tasty! Nice location only 10 minutes from the beach. Cottage was quite close to a road which got a bit noisy in the morning with the window being open, that’s the only thing we could fault, other than that it was lovely!

Lovely bed. I slept so well which I generally don't whilst I am away. Great to have a secure garden for our dog who was quite happy doing zoomies whilst we relaxed in the hot tub. Location fantastic too. The local golf club is very welcoming and dog friendly and do breakfast and lunch, the coast and Beverley are within easy reach by car or bus and there are lots of public footpaths for long dog walks. Add to all this shops and pubs in Leven and Brandesburton and you have everything you could want for a relaxing break. Thank you.

On arrival to see the property all lit up for Christmas was truly magical. The place was spotless. Hosts really thought about all the little extras that really make a big difference - good quality bed linen, selection of pillows, sweet treat in the fridge with homemade apple juice, fluffy towels and proper toilet paper (not the thin cheap stuff). Beautiful setting. Beautiful house. Amazing hot tub. Perfect retreat and will definitely be coming back. Literally not a bad word to say. 10/10.

Thank you so much for your outstanding review. We like to think we go the extra mile, so it's lovely to have our efforts appreciated. Looking forward to, hopefully, welcoming you back again to stay. Property Owner

  • "We stayed for our first wedding anniversary."

Upon searching for a place to stay I chose here because it had a hot tub, was pet friendly and looked and sounded amazing. We then decided not to take our dog as it would restrict us going out to restaurants. So at this point I was a bit worried what it might be like since it was pet friendly. But my fears cleared as soon as we arrived. It was so clean and tidy and well looked after. The whole place smelt fresh and the bed was so comfy. The owners really do look after the place and all personal touches like the homemade apple juice, art work by their daughter etc, just made it that bit more special. The hot tub was amazing, and the area the lodge is situated is lovely and quiet. We can’t wait to go back. Thanks so much Ali & John.

The garden was dog friendly and Joey didn't find a way of escaping!! He loved it :) The cottage is close to the local amenities - about 15/20 min walk to the next, 'towns.' We walked to Leven and then on to the canal which looped us back to Leven which was 7 miles which was nice to do. Stopped on the way, 'home' at the local butchers for a sausage roll - highly recommend. Walking the opposite way towards Brandsburton, 'town' we booked on to mini golf and then had a bite to eat at Berts which was great. Really nice place in a beautiful part of the world, we can't wait to book to come back!

Sunset View was very well laid out, comfortable and the views from the large window were tremendous. The garden was totally dog safe other than the external steps which we had to barricade as they were difficult for a small dog to get up and down safely, but this is a very minor point and did not detract from the holiday at all. We loved the hot tub and it was the icing on the cake to the whole experience. It is clear that the owners had given a great deal of thought and time into the lodge and this shone through in all parts of it. We could not have enjoyed our stay any more and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

There is plenty of space for 2 in the cottage and feels really cosy. The cottage is I between 2 small villages, both have a shop and pubs. We walked to the new Inn pub at leven for some lunch, it was really nice and dog friendly so perfect when walking the dog. Food was lovely and not expensive either. The hot tub in the garden was amazing after a day of walking, it really did complete the package. We also visited fraisthorpe Beach which was about 15 minutes drive from the cottage, I highly recommend visiting if you have a dog it's beautiful and quiet and dog friendly. All in all we had the best few days away relaxing away from bust life at home. We will definitely be back again. Thank you!

  • "This was a wonderful little cottage, built to a good standard, impeccably clean, furnished well and presented impeccably."

It had a hot tub in a private secluded garden and was very dog friendly with no doggy after smells in the cottage. Bed was large and comfortable, shower was wonderful and the kitchen was spacious and had everything for the keen self caterer. The owner was available and friendly without being intrusive and was even flexible with the arrival and departure times. If you are interested in feedback then the only few things that I can think of that somebody might want to complain about are the following, but I stress this did not spoil our four night stay whatsoever. The settee and chair have seen better days and are now coming in to the realms of 'shabby chic'. Although the cottage is not on a main road even with windows closed there is some traffic noise perhaps more noticeable due to the scarcity of traffic rather than a background buzz. Obviously this cannot be changed. All in all an excellent experience throughout.

  • "The accommodation itself was basic and adequate for what we needed to use as a base to explore not only the surrounding areas but to go further afield to York & Harrogate for example."

The welcome pack of tea, milk & biscuits was nice to have and the owner Ali was very welcoming. The property location was a bit of a surprise, in that it is situated just off a very busy road and not set further back into its own grounds. Consequently, the noise of the passing traffic (cars, buses & lorries) was a bit of a distraction when in the accommodation itself and even more so when sitting in the lovely secluded garden outside, enjoying the lovely weather that we were fortunate to have. A real plus, was that the hot tub was especially a delight to use and located away from the noise of the road at the far end of the garden. Unfortunately, there was also some noise distractions from a neighbours dog barking early morning/evening and some DIY sporadic work going on nearby, which on occasion was quite loud. All in all, we had a great holiday, but the end of the day return 'back to base' for total peace and tranquillity, to be able to unwind was simply just not possible. We will use Sykes again I am sure but we would not return to this particular property.

The accommodation was perfect just what we were looking for and it was central to all the places we wanted to go. The beach at Fraisethorpe was the best for doggies, our loves if and the "Cow shed" café/restaurant had great food and refreshments and was very close to the beach. From the accommodation in the evening we did see some great sunsets, but most special was the Barn Owl, as we sat in the evening looking over the countryside, just about dusk every night the ghostly appearance of the Owl against the fading light of the field and trees was spectacular as it searched for its next vole. The garden was very secure for even the smallest dog which was very comforting as our dog is tiny and an escape artist. All found this was a great venue and a great location, I would happily recommend this to anyone looking to explore the Yorkshire Wolds.
