Welcomed by Sandra, then Bill the owners, it was obvious nothing was too much trouble. Bill gave us some good tips of where the best dog friendly walks were nearby. The cottage was warm, fairly spacious and ideal for our needs. A large field to the rear gave us a safe place for doggy needs. Wifi was very reliable and a good speed. TV was free view but excellent signal. Due to directions prior to arriving we found the property very easily. If you want peace then come here. Only a short walk to amenities like shops, the best fish & chips ever at Stonehouses and a regular bus service stops nearby. Excellent base for this area of the North East. Will come again

  • "Only two observations and not really complaints."

Shower operation was a little difficult (we got there in the end) and the TV seemed to have a mind of its own. Also, the kitchen knives need some attention. The proprietors were superb people who were very helpful with eg local knowledge .and we had no complaints at all. Definitely on the cards for another visit.

  • "Booked this cottage as we wanted to take my wheelchair bound mother back to this area to visit her brother."

Ideal for a disabled person and whilst a little more basic than some of the luxury cottages we have stayed in was perfect for what we wanted and spotlessly clean. Bill was always around if needed and helped us out a couple of times with additional items we needed. Overall I would 100% recommend and it's highly likely we'll book again for future visits to this area.

Personally I found the toilet a bit low ,I asked if there was a raised seat I could borrow, the owner Bill brought one round within a few minutes. The owners were available if we needed anything but didn't intrude. The cottage was a credit to the owners, it was spotless & well aired, (no musty holiday cottage smell !) Hope to return in the future when everything is back to normal after covid restrictions lifted

There was plenty of parking, the holiday cottage was very clean and well kept. Sandra had welcomed my daughter who was joining me at the cottage the night before I arrived and made her welcome. Nice outside patio to sit on a night and watch the rabbits in the field. The location is ideal to access the North Yorkshire Moors, Saltburn & Whitby etc. I had forgotten how green the area was after living aboard for 8 years. I would not hesitate to stay here again and hopefully will stop again next year. Thank you Bill & Sandra.

Rubber Mats are available to counter this but my wife who is very unsteady on her feet still struggled when moving off them . access to the main bedroom was also a problem, with considerable manoeuvring required to get a scooter to the side of the bed.The rest of the facilities were fine.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment with the cowbyre . I feel on this occasion I should reply. It is advertised of been disable friendly with easy access , wet room with wash chair and grab rails for the toilet, walking frame is available if requested. We sorry but wouldn't expect anyone to try and drive a mobile scooter Property Owner

  • "The grounds were immaculate and wonderful for our two spaniels especially the field out back, and the beaches and woodland walks were fantastic."

The owners were very friendly and helpful but we always maintained our privacy. Just a few things to note were that there were no recycling facilities at the premises that we were aware of. Also, the fridge was very noisy which was ok if the television was on but we were aware of it quite often. Perhaps it was no louder than any other fridge but we noticed it being as the lounge and kitchen were all in one room. We also struggled with the limited amount of available cupboard space in the kitchen for our groceries. Although these were all very minor things and we still managed very well and had a relaxing holiday. Saltburn and the coastline is a great place and extremely close and we visited places all along the coast from Robins Hood’s Bay to Runswick Bay and can’t recommend the North Yorkshire Moors area highly enough for a holiday destination.

Helpful and friendly owners on site. Just really needs the local pub in Lingdale to complete refurbishment then it would be perfect. Fairly easy to walk direct from the front door but note that OS map footpaths may not be completely accurate.....but that is just part of the fun of walking a new area. Family and dog enjoyed the week. The "robust" mattresses, whilst comfortable enough, encouraged perspiration during a wonderfully warm and humid week but I am sure are ideal for the other 51 weeks of the year. Would like to return for mountain biking next time.
