The owner was very friendly without being intrusive. It was a little chilly but an extra heater and electric blanket were provided to help take care of that. There was everything you could need in the cottage, a beautiful clean shower room, a big comfortable bed, the kitchen was really well equipped and the living room area was lovely and comfortable. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean. Highly recommend

We would be happy to stay here again. The adjoining stable was empty, but I don’t think we would have been disturbed anyway. The area is very pretty, with plenty to do, even, as we found, in the rain!

“Picture of property did include stable but the details made no reference to the stable being occupied by a mare and foal, and the close proximity of horses.”

Sound proofing is not a key consideration in stable design hence the noise of hooves clattering on floors and movement in the stables was clearly heard over the TV and the first 3 nights I woke every 1-2 hours by noises from the stable as I wake up when hearing unexpected sounds. The boiler was also exceptionally noisy and also woke me up. Although it concerned me less the early morning starts; 6.30am starting on the horses did not allow for a catch up in sleep either. So although it met my needs of a lovely quiet location and was geographically sited where I wanted to be the holiday was spoilt by the internal noise in the property. I certainly won't be staying at this property again and would advise anybody wanting total quiet to avoid this property.

D modern equipment. The owners were on site if needed and were very friendly and informative. The rear outdoor area is excellent for sitting out on a night, this overlooked an enclosed paddock with 2 gorgeous friendly horses who loved the attention of being stroked and fussed and took a fancy to our apples. Overall this is an ideal away from it all peaceful cottage but close enough for all the local places of interest and there are many to choose from We would recommend this cottage very highly

“Country retreat”

An ideal country retreat for two people up a dead end lane. Comfortable conditions (upside down with lounge upstairs).Everything you need, plenty of parking, only drawback we thought was lack of any extended views but never the less a good base for the area of Ryedale and N Yorks Moors.

“Cosy retreat”

This is an unusual place to stay (a converted tack room)set down a lane in beautiful countryside. The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs and the kitchen/dining area and lounge are upstairs. The accommodation had recently been converted, so all the fittings and furniture were new and of a high standard. The owners were on site at the farm, and were very helpful, but you still retained privacy. The accommodation was well heated and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area. It was well located and Helmsley is a lovely market town only a few minutes drive away.

The property

Nawton 1 mile.

A cosy stone-built detached cottage, situated just outside the pretty village of Nawton, 4 miles from Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside.

Originally a stone barn, the property has been lovingly restored and provides upside down accommodation to take advantage of the southern aspect.

The characterful open plan living area has beamed, sloping ceilings and french doors opening to a Juliet balcony.

Comfortably furnished and decorated, Little Manor Farm Cottage offers the perfect, romantic retreat at any time of the year.

The market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering are all close by, and offer an excellent selection of tea rooms, restaurants, inns and good museums.

The ancient fishing port of Whitby and the seaside town of Scarborough are just a short drive away and the stunning scenery of the North York Moors is on the doorstep.

Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard, Duncombe Park in Helmsley and Nunnington Hall are all very close by.

This property makes a great base.

The small, pretty village of Nawton lies three miles from the historic market and castle towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. The main village street is lined with stone built cottages, and has an excellent pub serving food, a fish and chip shop and a pub converted into an Indian restaurant. Surrounded by the stunning countryside of the North York Moors, it is ideally situated for great walking opportunities. Nearby, picturesque Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside are a delight to explore, with quaint tea rooms, individual shops, galleries and good restaurants. The market town of Pickering, ten miles away, is well worth a visit with the North York Moors Steam Railway and Pickering Castle. There are a wealth of places to visit in the area including the stately homes and gardens of Castle Howard and Duncombe House & Park, Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall and the historic City of York with its famous minster, viking dig and city walls.
