The views across to Scarborough are Fantastic. James is a wonderful host and his barn conversion is a home from home, it’s so warm and cosy. There is everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. Comfortable bed and lovely hot shower. Plenty of good walks in the area and great pubs to have a drink and enjoy a meal. In a good location for driving to Whitby, Scarborough and surrounding areas. We will return again.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Dovecote Cottage."

Everything was as it should be and the bathroom was exeptional with a large shower aand hot water piped in from the heating system so reliably hot. The only slight drawback for us was that we had not realised the location was as remote as it was, ie being too far out to take a walk out in the evening and maybe called in at a local hostelry! We also had a couple of evenings where the TV reception was dire but were given to understand that it was due to the high pressure. Not complaining because it meant we had good weather!

There is everything you could need for a comfortable stay. A bit remote for us as we have limited mobility and had to take the car everywhere. Listing says pub is 0.2 miles away, the drive to the main road is more than that and the road to the pub is very steep. Pub food amazing. The listing also says the shop is 0.4 miles away, however the nearest shop is a couple of miles away. The farm shop is no longer there.

Booking Dovecote Cottage was easy on the website with a clear explanation of the layout and facilities within the cottage and surroundings Arrival was easy with instructions and key code entry The cottage was exactly as described and is perfect if you are looking for a cosy Base for two in order to explore the area - we intended to spend our time walking both the Cleveland Way and Cinder Path both of which were accessible from the cottage within minutes Although the weather was cold we were lucky to have dawn to dusk sun and as a result found the walks varied with stunning views of the Coast - the lovely tea rooms at Ravenscar were particularly welcome since all the local pubs were only opening their gardens for outside drinking and eating at weekends - a shame as our booking was Monday to Friday - and we would have loved to try them - as a result we binged on the very welcome Netflix in the evenings The cottage is renovated to a good standard and keeps some of its original properties and is well equipped - personally I would much prefer a dishwasher to washing machine but I appreciate not everyone would agree James the owner popped by on the first evening to welcome us and gave us some useful info regarding the area and when we met him subsequently around the farm he was always lovely and helpful - it was a fantastic break and we look forward to returning in the future - possibly into his new property
