  • "Fantastic location, very cosy, clean and well maintained cottage."

Melissa left a bottle of milk in the fridge and a lovely cake for our arrival, which was very welcome after our long drive. Located just a few minutes from the Designer Outlet park and ride into York £3.60 return pp running every 15 mins. Would advise if sightseeing in York to buy a York Pass, can be bought online or you can buy a 1, 2, or 3 days pass from the Tourist Information in York, highly recommended to save money if you want to see all the sights. The cottage has everything you need. Large rooms, comfortable bed, with lots of storage, bathroom has a shower cubicle and a bath. Just 2 slight negatives (but didn't spoil our stay) the sofa is very low and there is no full length mirror. Strawberry Fields Café just a few mins away serve a lovely breakfast. Costcutter shop just up the road in Wheldrake and the Wenlock Arms serve lovely food. Will definable be back.

Lots of room but also very cozy, especially with the log burner. We found a treat from the hosts on arrival which was very lovely of them and we enjoyed our stay very much! It was also perfect location to explore York with the park and ride just down the road, it couldn't have been easier! We would definitely stay again!

Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Loads of storage space and nice big rooms to spend quality time in when the weather is a bit inclement as it was when we stayed in October. We highly recommend and look forward to a sunnier return! Thank you.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Stables."

The property was very clean and well equipped. The gift of milk and Victoria sponge on arrival was very welcome. Situated on a golf course, the area is quiet and, given the excellent weather we enjoyed, it was a pleasure to sit outside and enjoy the environment. The cottage is local to a Designer Outlet where it is possible to use the free to park and Park + Ride facility to travel easily into central York for sightseeing and the inevitable shopping. Also local is The Wheldrake Arms, a pub serving an excellent Sunday carvery. Can recommend the property as a base for exploring York and environs.

We did have an issue with the Wi-Fi when we first arrived which was quickly sorted by Melissa. Overall a lovely property with a spacious feel and a comfortable bed. It was a short drive to the Designer Outlet and Park and Ride and if the weather was fine, lovely walks from the door in the woods. I would definitely recommend and certainly return.

Excellent woodland walks on the doorstep, and brilliant parking facilities yards from the property. Will certainly go back again and highly recommended.

Extremely clean and comfortable. I brought t -towels etc with me but they had been provided. There was nothing I had to provide apart ftom toiletries and food. There was even a pint of milk in the fridge along with a salted caramel cake for us what a lovely gesture. A very quiet place to chill out and enjoy the surroundings.

  • "The cottage was well presented, nice and clean and ticked all the boxes for a relaxing holiday."

The owners were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We thought the bedroom had a king size bed so we were slightly disappointed that it seemed like a normal size double. This could be down to the mattress being a bit small for the bed frame. All in all though an excellent holiday cottage with a beautiful setting near the forest with sightings of deer and other wildlife. Look forward to returning in the future.

The property is excellent and is located in a quiet area on the outskirts of York but very close to the Park and Ride stop that takes you quickly into the centre of York. It is an ideal spot for exploring the city of York which has so much to offer. We cannot thank Melissa too much for making our stay such a joy. We recommend this property very highly.

It is comfortable but smart. It is always warm and the owners leave very clear instructions as to how to alter the radiators, so you can have the whole cottage at a temperature that suits you. It is always spotlessly clean and they had taken on board a feedback I left the time before. The owners are always around if you need tham but keep out of your way and give you space. We have all our holidays in holiday cottages and this one is up there with the best of them.

Both are excellent. The Christmas tree was up and the fire laid which were lovely touches. They are very quiet a peaceful but very near York and shops. The cottage is very warm and comfortable and has a very good level of equipment in the kitchen. Everything is good quality and very clean. My only very small niggle is that perhaps there could have been more pillows or plumber pillows, they were very flat and the quilt could have been a little warmed for the cold nights. But I can't wait to go back in January. Thank you so much for a wonderful place to stay.
