The cottage was very central, within easy walking distance of lovely interesting independent shops. The weather was idyllic and we enjoyed visiting local attractions, Yorkshire Lavender and Rivieux Abbey were favourites. Found beautiful foodie gifts. The cottage was comfortable, spotless and well equipped. Thank you so much for your comments. So well equipped with everything we could possibly want and more and lovely welcome pack left. Very comfortable beds and not disturbed by traffic noise despite being on the road - very few cars seemed to go past overnight, or maybe we just slept really well! Owners were very helpful both before and during stay. Malton is a lovely town and so nice just to be able to walk in for shops and meals. Easy to get to York, The Moors and Whitby. Thank you so much, hope to return one day. Reviewed by LizNov 2021 "Second stay at this premises and matched previous expectations." Only two of us staying here (should have been three but circumstances prevented third person joining us) so felt very spacious. Might seem a little too cosy if 4 adults there together - although more than well equipped for four. Excellent contact with owners who left very generous welcome pack. The house is very cosy and centrally placed in Malton to allow easy access to bars, restaurants and shops plus the train station is a short walk away for trains to York. We enjoyed several walks in the Wolds with the added comfort of being able to return to the log fire afterwards. The owners are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive - thank you so much for the generous welcome pack. We will definitely be returning. Reviewed by DawnDec 2019 "This is a very pleasant comfortable well furnished cottage." It would be wonderful for a spring and summer holiday. It has a very nice garden. We were staying in the cottage the week before Christmas, there is central heating and a log burner but perhaps we chose a particularly cold week it seemed rather chill. Just one or two points to mention. It is in the middle of a busy small town, this has pluses and minuses. Being where it is it is good for eating out and exploring. Traffic noise is possible on busy days. Malton is a lovely town everywhere we went shop staff and restaurant owners could not have been nicer. The owners of the cottage are a very nice couple who took the trouble to contact us before we left home, to pass on information. Over all we would recommend the Pipe House. Well equipped home, had everything we needed and the welcome pack and milk in the fridge was a very kind gesture. Owners very hospitable and made sure all was well. We thank them for having some toys and games available, it kept our four year old entertained and out of mischief. Yes there was traffic but it really didn’t bother us compared to other reviewers. In fact, we very much liked being central in a busy town and for those occasions you didn’t want to drive there was a train station close by. There was a local music festival on during our stay and we enjoyed it sitting with a G&T in the garden! We would very much recommend. Reviewed by NicolaJul 2019 "Beautiful house,in perfect position." Reviewed by HarrietJul 2019 "The house is ideally situated for exploring Malton on foot." The Sainsbury’s Local is very close and great for those extras needed after the main shops have closed, which seemed a little earlier than we are used to. Lots of wonderful food and antiques shops in the town. The garden at the house is lovely - a real sun trap and the summer house is an ideal place in which to chill after a day out and about. Plenty of garden furniture and cushions! The accommodation was fine. The main bedroom is very spacious; the twin-bedded room a little on the small side when two adults are in residence but not a problem. Sitting room and kitchen/dining room were ideal. The owner was very helpful and responded quickly to all our questions/comments both before and during our visit. There was a slight issue with the door of the twin-bedded room which did not latch properly and tended to swing open if not wedged from behind but the owner is aware of this and hoped to get it repaired. Reviewed by JenniferMay 2019 "Had a great stay at the Old Pipe House." The house is homely and extremely well equipped for both human and canine visitors. The garden is lovely and private which gives the feel of being in the country whilst in the town. Parking is Brilliant and the garden secure and surprisingly peaceful. Sadly the single glazed windows don’t cut out the sound of the surprising amount of large traffic that goes past in the early mornings - where do they all go?? But that said it didnt disturb us too much we were just surprised by the volume of traffic. The kitchen was well stocked so it was easy to cook a meal there if you didnt want to go out and try the superb eateries around Malton. We did miss having a dishwasher but we had plenty of time to do the little bit of washing up we made. We all loved the garden and little summerhouse, the twinkly solar lights added a nice touch, Ive ordered some for my garden. As has been mentioned before the double bed isn’t the comfiest if you’re used to a nice firm mattress, but overall that was the only negative in our weeks stay. There is so much to see and do in this little town and this house is in a great position to explore.
