    Friendly service from the owner, and some lovely welcoming touches upon arrival. Shops and pub nearby, so no real need to leave the house, if you want to relax with friends or laze in the hot tub. Nice garden to lounge and play games, with chairs for 8... all in all a great experience!

    The house was spotless and had everything you would need, plus the hot tub was lovely. The owners were pleasant and helpful and made the check-in process simple. The location is fab with a shop literally next door and we visited the Dog and Duck pub for Sunday lunch which was delicious!

    It’s on the main road so the front bedrooms get some traffic noise though this didn’t bother us. It’s very spacious and even though there was 8 of us we didn’t feel on top of each other. Loads of storage space in the bedrooms and the kitchen is very well equipped. We had a small issue and the owner came out to sort quickly. Communication was very good. Would recommend and will be back!

  • "We had a lovely holiday in a beautiful house, lovely and clean with great facilities and a good location although the road outside is noisy in the mornings."

    The hot tub was great and the owner came in every afternoon to test the chemical levels. Not intrusive as we arranged a time when we would be out and she didn't come through the house. The house is easy to keep tidy and not full of personal nik naks, just a few nice pictures and ornaments. The beds were comfortable and the wardrobes and cupboards were spacious. The shower in the main bedroom was really hot though and we couldn't get it to turn down so we used the other one, not a problem but something to be aware of. The local shop is only 2 doors down and very well stocked, the daily pies and scotch eggs were delicious. All in all a really nice place to spend a holiday and we would recommend it to anyone.

    Everything we needed was available extra cleaning facilities were on hand including hand sanitisers in every room. The hot tub was clean and hot for when we arrived. Booklet containing recommendations of where to eat and places to visit was very helpful. Would definitely book The Cheviot again.

The property

This large detached house rests in the little village of Walkington, found in the East Riding of Yorkshire nearby the historic market town of Beverley, it offers a beautifully-presented holiday home.

Suited to a larger group of eight, this property enjoys a large garden with a hot tub, and good access to neighbouring towns and attractions.

Within the heart of the house is the open-plan living space, where earthy colours and simple décor collide to create a harmonious sitting area, with a large leather corner sofa offering a perfect spot to relax in.

Step over the soft rug to the kitchen area and gather around the island, you can perch on one of the breakfast bar stools to watch dinner cooking, with a pre-dinner glass of wine.

The kitchen holds a great range of appliances within the muted grey fittings beneath sleek spotlights above.

With a seat for all, sit at the dining table which enjoys views out of the glass patio doors to the pretty garden, a lovely backdrop to your evening meal.

In summer head outside to relax on the lawn, or play some games with the children before taking a dip in the bubbling hot tub, providing ultimate relaxation.

Upstairs you can choose from four bedrooms, including two king-size bedrooms and two twins, with two of them benefiting from en-suite bathrooms, they all enjoy an air of luxury with carefully chosen quality bedding and furnishings, you will happily retreat to these tranquil spots at the end of the day.

Freshen up in the main bathroom which has a bath and a shower, so you can enjoy a long soak for a peaceful moment to yourself.

The village itself holds several pubs for you to sample some tasty pub grub and ales, while the shop offers somewhere to get last minute ingredients for a delicious dish.

Head into the neighbouring town of Beverley for a larger selection in treats, or plan a day at the races at Beverley Racecourse before choosing from the many restaurants within the town to delight in an evening off from cooking!

Travel up to Bridlington for a day at the seaside, with a long stretch of beach perfect for setting up camp on a sunny day, you can get some fish and chips and eat them by the harbour, or just a little further up is Sewerby Hall and Gardens and Bridlington Links Golf Course.

Going south brings you to the bustling university town of Hull, set upon the Humber estuary it holds several attractions and things to do amidst the local history.

Cheviot will be a wonderful host to a family holiday, offering a quiet village location within easy reach of popular towns, you will see the best of East Yorkshire.

Set just northwest of the city of Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, is the village of Walkington, a small and pretty spot offering a community environment. This area makes for a wonderful base from which to visit and see many popular areas of Yorkshire, such as York and Hull, as well as the seaside town of Bridlington and Yorkshire's east coast. The village itself is home to a convenience store, a Post Office, three pubs and a village hall and a church, so all you need for a lovey self-catered stay is at hand, while the neighbouring market town of Beverley offers a wider array of shopping and eateries, as well as Beverley Racecourse, a cinema, and some parks. Visit Bridlington Spa for a day out at the seaside, taking a stroll along The Spa Promenade before stopping in one of the several harbour cafés for some fish and chips, or if you've got sunny weather then head straight to the beach and soak up the sun while you can.
