  • "Benjamin Cottage was lovely and in a fantastic location."

It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. It was within walking distance to the beach and shops etc in Marske-by-the-sea and in a perfect location for exploring the surrounding towns and villages.

  • "A gem in Marske by the sea."

It is such a lovely well kept cottage that is very quiet, central to shops, seaside, train station, and buses. As soon as I walked through the door I felt at home. Rachel goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and keeps her property at a 5 star level. Bed is very comfortable, soaker tub after a long day at the seaside is perfect and the kitchen is large and well stocked to cook and bake. Livingroom is cozy and comfortable, especially in front of the wood burner. I enjoyed it so much, I have booked another extended stay.

Beach easily accessible for walks to Saltburn or Redcar. Cottage worked well for us and was well equipped. Car parking is outside the property with additional parking if needed in car park behind property. Short walk to train station. Very nice to have plenty of logs provided for the log burner but the property is very warm even without this. The owner, Rachael, was very helpful and accommodating. All in all, very good.

Fabulous kitchen and bathroom and the bedding and towels were luxurious and fresh which you don’t always get. I loved the area too, some great bars and places to eat locally as well as in nearly Saltburn (try 19 Saltburn for a treat) Beach really is a gem, we walked our legs off. Rachael was there for anything we needed and replied straight away if I had questions. Lovely also to be somewhere where there aren’t house rules everywhere, made it much more homely. Overall very professionally run and fantastically maintained.

We had a delightful stay, the cottage was brilliant in terms of comfort and location. Marske by the Sea is not an area we were familiar with but is just lovely. Beautiful long sandy beach, great walks locally and a short drive to Sandsend, where we walked along the beach to Whitby. Roseberry Toping was a short drive and a cracking walk. The area of Marske by the Sea has good local shops and pubs and a exceptional greengrocer. Very friendly place and a lovely cottage.

I have only marked the property down for 2 reasons, the main one being the lack of a downstairs bathroom for a toilet and washbasin that would fit in an under stairs space. There isn’t any suitable space for an outside sitting area that would have been appreciated. Several shops Inc co-op and sainsburies in v short walking distance and several bars and restaurants far enough down the road not to cause noise. Some stunning walks if fit, along beach to Redcar or Saltburn or to Errington woods but all within a few minutes drive if less active. Benjamin cottage is beautiful, much nicer presentation than most dog friendly places I have used and just about everything you need to self cater. Great bath and shower, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher and all utensils you might need inc good quality pans. Absolutely spotless when we arrived, very good value for money. If you do have a dog the back yard area is shared and not secure so to be aware but that wasn't a problem for us, my dog and my friend and I were out walking several times a day rain or shine.
