  • "We loved the cottage."

Rooms were a great size. Kitchen was very well equipped. Whole cottage was spotlessly clean. Beds very comfortable. The heating was highly effective and kept the whole cottage lovely and warm. Welcome tray was a very nice touch, especially the dog biscuits. We would highly recommend this cottage.

If you want a base to visit Ripon & North Yorkshire then this is ideal being close to the A1m. Lovely open views to fields at rear and on a quiet road. Well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge, large dining room and 3 excellent bedrooms. Handy utility room for taking off walking shoes & cleaning the dogs feet. Off road parking at rear. We could not fault this accomodation & would love to return again for a peaceful break. Friendly owner who contacted us ahead of visit. Thoroughly recommend.

We ended up at the Bull Inn, West Tanfield several times which is very dog friendly and all meals are great. Really enjoyed Thirsk, especially the Upstairs/Downstairs cafe! The property perfectly suited our needs and we would be keen to return in the future.

The driveway was very tight for our VW Golf - we needed to fold in our wing mirrors to negotiate it. The cottage was more spacious than expected and had all that we needed for an enjoyable stay.

  • "Enjoyed our stay, great place for families."

Spacious, very comfortable and a great base for many nearby attractions. Our boys particularly enjoyed Newby Hall and Lightwater Valley. Some confusion on our final day, when the guy came to collect bedding etc at 8.30. It was ready for him but he didn’t have anything to put it in so didn’t take it. Some initial problems with oven, but quickly resolved. Vincent very helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We arrived to find tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, the perfect welcome after our drive. Comfy beds and sofas encouraged us to relax and unwind, and there was enough warmth in the evening to sit in the pretty garden and watch the sheep! Vincent and Stephen are wonderful hosts and they provided great recommendations for walks, trips out and where to book for lunch/dinner. We had a wonderful stay.

No shop in the village but Ripon only 4 miles away. Great friendly pub just around the corner which we visited on a couple of occasions enjoying a good home cook meal on the one visit. The cottage itself has 3 great sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. Big bathroom with a great shower although there was a certain knack to flushing the toilet, which could do with looking at. Great living room with comfortable sofa's, separate dining room with big table we could all sit round and eat at. Kitchen a nice size and well equipped although we did go out and buy our own wine glasses as wine glasses in the cottage were very small and could do with updating for those who enjoy a nice glass of wine. The back garden is lovely and as we had good weather it was a great place to sit out and our springer enjoyed the space, also great view and fab to see the lambs out the back. we had a fab week at West View and the best recommendation i can give is that we have rebooked for later on in the year

The cottage is well laid out with all the necessary facilities, which made our stay happy and relaxing, despite the variable weather that week. Our party consisted of father, daughter, two teenage granddaughters and for the first time, our small poodle. There was plenty of room for everyone and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Many thanks to Vincent, the owner, for keeping in touch and helping to make our stay memorable. We fully intend returning in the future.

  • "The cottage is beautiful."

Really stylish but very homely and welcoming. We arrived with a lovely welcome tray and fresh milk and a tin of yummy dog biscuits for our dog. The beds are very comfortable and so are the pillows. The house was spotless, well equipped and plenty big enough for four adults, a toddler and a dog. The garden is beautiful especially seeing the little lambs in the field behind. The village is in a great location, just 10 minutes to Ripon and 25 to Harrogate. The village pub does great food with a friendly service. We got a local sainsburys to deliver a shop as we arrived, as there is no village shop you need to be prepared but you’re so close to other places it’s not a problem. The hosts were really friendly, kind and informative. We loved our stay here and are definitely rebooking to go back.

Thank you so much for such wonderful feedback. We are truly grateful for your kind words and support. I am sure that others will find your comments very useful, too, to help them make their decisions. We are so relieved that you found the accommodation comfortable and there's room for your family and Gertrude. We hope that she's managed to meet a few of other dogs in the village - it's a very dog friendly village. Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any queries about your plans for returning to West View.. We look forward to welcoming you back. Many thanks again Property Owner
