  • "The location of Pear Tree Court is pretty much unbeatable, it's right up against the jewbury wall and just metres from Goodrumgate a fantastic street leading straight to the Minster full of excellent shops and restaurants/cafés."

Moreover my family gave it some of their highest praise: "like a home away from home". We loved all the homely touches like coasters exactly where we wanted to put our drinks down and the provision of tea, coffee, biscuits, milk and even fresh flowers! We loved this place and if we were coming back to York would be delighted to stay again.

  • "We loved staying here."

It’s lovely and clean, with a homey feel to it. The conservatory is a great addition and as you sit there you look at the old Roman wall! The house is close enough to walk everywhere within the York City walls. Our only complaint is it wasn’t clear how anywhere to put the garbage between pickups, but we figured it out eventually. A great place to stay and reasonably priced.

  • "An great house in York with an excellent location within the Walls."

All of the York attractions are within a 10/15 minute walk. A parking place was invaluable. The house was well equipped although we ate out every night and comfortable after a day out sightseeing. Access to main routes out of town were good although I would advise not travelling through the centre as there are a few restrictions!! We did the usual visits.... York Castle Museum, Jorvik, the Walls, the Minster/Cathedral, a guide walk around some of the hidden historic spots and also drove out to Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks and Whitby. Our host was in touch before and after we arrived and we felt that if there were any questions re the house we could ask. A great house in a wonderful city.... thanks again.

  • "We stayed in this beautiful town house for a short break as we have a four year old and wanted a bit more flexibility than a hotel offered (not disturbing other guests and space to help entertain our “full of beans” son!"

). We were so pleased with this pleasant house set over three floors with a place to park the car directly outside the front door. This was invaluable for our stay within the historic walls (literally next to the back door!). We only used the car once to go for dinner at the York shopping designer outlet which was a direct and short car ride away (about 15 mins by car). It was brilliant for access to the city with the beautiful Shambles literally just a few minutes walk away and amenities (Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose all within walking distance). We also walked to the National Railway museum, however, there are regular bus rides, including the “Hop On, Hop Off” tour bus or the miniature train that picks you up at the Minster and drops you at the museum. We managed to walk each day. The house was tidy and clean and the owners were friendly and welcoming phoning us on arrival to make sure everything was ok leaving us tea and biscuits after our long journey which was very much appreciated. We would love to return to this little gem again hopefully in the future. If you want a break away in the gorgeous city of York, immersing yourself within the history, with parking and home comforts then this is the perfect place for you.

  • "We had a really lovely week in this excellently placed property."

So nice to be able to park and leave the car as everything we needed was within walking distance. The owner also was extremely helpful to us in assisting to reunite us with items we left in the property on departure day!

  • "The cottage was great for a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 teenagers."

To have a place to stay so close to the centre of York, with the added bonus of parking was great. The car moved twice in the whole week - once to venture out to Fountains Abbey and once to do the shopping, everything else was in easy walking distance. The owner was great about everything and very easy to contact should something unexpected occur. Would thoroughly recommend if you want a city centre location with the added bonus of parking.

  • "Lovely little cottage with great view of the wall."

Very convenient, safe location only a 5 minute walk to most everything. Cottage well supplied with welcome package of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Perfect place to celebrate the arrival of new year at the cathedral. Would go again.

  • "This home is in a great location."

Very quiet and Only minutes into the main area of the old city and minster, shopping and eateries . . The parking for a car was a bonus . The house was clean and comfortable and we had a very good stay. If going with anyone elderly or who struggles with stairs the house bedrooms are over two floors second and third as a watch out . We would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Summer and winter, there is something to fascinate the whole family.
