    “Quirky and different”

We had a great week in the chicken shed ...

We had a great week in the chicken shed. Don’t go expecting 5 star luxury, but if your looking for something a bit different and enjoy ‘Glamping’ then this has almost everything you need..and was a great value break. It was really quirky and had lots of old bits and pieces, which gave it an authentic feel, not full of new stuff made to look old. The place was really clean and everything basic was provided, bedding, towels, tea/coffee, washing up liquid etc. We had a glorious week weather wise, so can’t comment on the heating arrangements as we didn’t use them. The gas fire is under one side of the bed, but you can lift up the bed and run it safely, you just wouldn’t attempt to do it with the bed down, so if the weather had been cold and wet, this might have been an issue( no more so than if you were camping though). Again, it is just posh camping so we didn’t expect central heating and we were warm enough even at night, as I always take an extension cable, we were able to run chargers, hair dryer etc safely with no problem. Basic cooking on the stove on the veranda was fine. The fridge is really small as only 12v, so don’t expect to store much more than milk and butter and we found the the lighting a bit challenging but we had torches so were fine. The tv worked ok, but we didn’t use it so can’t comment on how long it lasted. The shower and toilet were fine and clean, again don’t expect a power shower, but it was hot and manageable if a little compact. Carrie the owner met us on arrival and we chatted several times during our stay, she was really friendly and helpful. What really made it for us was the setting, beautiful open countryside views, sunrise and sunsets were stunning, we even had a storm and stood on the veranda watching the lightning flash across the sky. A great enclosed field for our dog to run around in was a great bonus. It is within easy driving distance of Whitby, Robin hoods bay and surrounding attractions.
