  • "We all enjoyed our stay very much and wished we were staying for longer."

The cottage is very comfortable with good quality furnishings and fittings especially the beds. I reported that one of the blinds in the top bedroom was broken off so I hope that was fixed. I didn’t need it doing during our short stay. The little welcome pack was appreciated.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at Harebell. Property Owner

  • "We use s/catering a lot plus are HPB bondholders, so enjoy good quality accommodation."

Harebell was excellent. So lovely to have things like a hand towel in each bathroom, additional to the towels supplied, kitchen roll, washing up liquid, soap etc. There were a few small maintenance issues which we try to fix or reported, one I forgot was the toilet seat in the ensuite is going wonky and needs a proper fit before it breaks. Seen the next question, happy for you to publish the first paragraph.

Hello, and thanks for your excellent feedback and scoring! On the smaller issues I will certainly have a look into these. Property Owner

  • "Fabulous property, really well equipped and comfortable, great location and brilliant instructions on everything."

Whilst we enjoyed good weather, we would have loved the house even if it had been poor weather. The goodie bag on arrival was great - an unexpected treat. Highly recommend - and is added to our 'favourites' list.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments! We hope to see you again at Harebell. Property Owner

  • "The weather was very hot and the property was too warm for sleep Fortunately maintenance provided a fan for one room but a fan in the bedrooms is really needed."

The floor in en-suite bathroom and one of lower bedrooms was warm even with heating off. Not sure why The blinds were fiddly A parasol for garden would have been really useful Also one of the cafetières had cracked glass base and not practical with granite worktop The other one was protected by a base Overall a fabulous house and we loved it!!

Thank you for all your feedback, we are pleased that you loved the house and we will certainly look into all the points you raise. Last week we had weather warnings due to the heat so it was generally difficult to sleep, but I am aware that maintenance bought a fan when you reported the issue. I will check all the blinds are in good working order when I stay this week, however just for the information of future guests the upstairs rooms each have a main blind, a daytime privacy blind and a blackout blind to suit all personal preferences. Thanks for booking Harebell and we hope to see you again! Property Owner

  • "The house was top notch with everything you could wish for , except neibours."

. Out of maybe twelve cottages only 2 were in use , I know this is nothing the company can control but for us it was too quiet. We also found the steps a problem at our age. Some one younger would have no problem but maybe a little warning for us oldies.accessing the house when walking was a slow climb for my wife . I am sorry if I sound super critical but I think this needs s more warning. On the plus side the surrounding gardens were magnificent.

Thank you for getting in touch. We’re pleased to hear that you liked the house and gardens. We are situated in ‘The Valley’… a heritage part of Sandsend village. It is a very picturesque, peaceful conservation area with houses set into the hillside either side of the beck, so there are steps up to the house from sea level. We have shown some of the steps in our listing photos, and we have also added a note to the listing to ensure this is clear. The Valley is predominantly popular holiday lets with some second homes which are quieter. We hope you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

  • "As mentioned in our email to you."

We had to wash plates and hand plates, oven trays before we could use , on arrival. In the en-suite bathroom on the third floor., a persons medication ( expiry date Autumn 2023) has been left in the cupboard , we had to clean the toothpaste of the side of the sink unit. Chocolate spots on pillow cases also noted. Other items only got higher scores due to us being regular visitors over many years to Harebell. Your cleaning team need some re-training , if being polite .

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and letting us know about these issues... repeat guests such as yourself are so valuable to us and the local area. We are very sorry to hear about your stay this time. I checked the bathroom cupboards were clear when I stayed last month, so I believe the medication has been left by a recent guest and, unfortunately, been missed by the housekeeping team. Our housekeepers / cleanliness normally attract 100% positive guest feedback, and our high quality bed linen is professionally laundered, pressed and freshly laid for each guest. We hope your experience won't deter you from visiting us again in the future. Property Owner

Only two things which would make it even better 1) If you could split one of the beds into a twin 2) Better instructions of where to put the rubbish Other than that fabulous

  • "Really pleased with the holiday cottage."

Comfortable and clean, plenty of room for 2 teenagers, 2 parents and a dog. We’re very familiar with the area and really pleased with the location. We timed it when high tides and high swells occurred which was fantastic to walk down and watch the waves crashing over the road, we monitored the tide timetable to ensure we could get out and about safely. We had a great holiday, in a great location in a great property. Couldn’t fault it.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, we're pleased you had a great holiday. Also, you may be interested to know that we now have new living room furniture and the whole house will be re-decorated over the winter. We hope to see you again soon at Harebell. Property Owner

We feel the pricing is very expensive for the size of the downstairs accommodation and the fact that for such a lovely cottage it is beginning to look a little tired in places.

  • "Beautiful and well appointed property in fabulous location."

Modern building and very well equipped &comfortable. Fitted in well with the rest of Sandsend village Great for beach and walking on N Yorkshire coast. Patio area was warm and sunny in early April. Lovely walk from the back of the property to Sandsend beach. We only had one issue with the bed on 2nd floor and wondered if it had been put together properly. It was just not very comfortable. Apart from that we loved the property and would definitely book again.

Thank you, we're pleased to hear you would book again. The patio is certainly a sun trap! We've fixed some extra slats to the super king bed as there were a couple missing. Thanks for getting in touch about this. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic stay lovely property so clean and so nice to have a decent hoover and appliances!"

Only issues we had - kettle doesn’t switch off - washer dryer broken (we did ring and inform) - underfloor heating in top floor bathroom doesn’t seem to be switching off - water incredibly hot in kitchen almost scolding coming out of tap Finally the only thing that would have made it perfect for us is twin beds in one of the king sized rooms. The kids didn’t get on so well with sharing a bed and there’s so much space in there it would make the house just that little more versatile for families staying together

We are really pleased you had a fantastic stay and thank you for all the comments. Arrangements have been made to replace the washing machine and kettle very shortly - apologies for any inconvenience this caused. We will certainly look into the other issues as well. Property Owner

About the location

SANDSEND

Whitby 2.5 miles.

Lying on Yorkshire's spectacular Heritage Coastline, Sandsend is the ideal place for a family holiday with its award winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. Indeed this part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here. Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon - great (and safe) for paddling and boating! For the more energetic the village sits on the lovely long distance Cleveland Way Trail, which offers great off-road cycling along the disused coastal railway as well as breathtaking clifftop walks. The National Trust now own the nearby headland, Sandsend Ness, where there is a delightful nature trail in the old quarry pits. A special place offering something for everyone!
